Literally. He mowed the lawn at his church for free, the pastor said Gary could do the community service in that way, and the pastor immediately signed his service as done, and so did the probation officer.
When he neared the end of his life Gary was interviewed one last time after his stroke, and was asked as the final question "Would you do it again" to which he responded with a clear "hell yes".

I needed this video today. I am a fulltime single dad, and about 30 mins ago I was told by my 6 year old daughter (who was the victim of molestation with a weapon) by her ex step father, that she would rather live with her mother. Her mother hasn't done ANYTHING in the past three years to help me or my daughter. No money, no cloths, and hardly gets her ever. I almost lost my cool, and am now bawling my eyes out because I feel like I can't ever do enough to be respected or admired. I am a good father, and I've sacrificed sooooo much to make sure my daughter is safe and well taken care of. Thank you brandon, because this video made my day a little better.
I learned from my friends who adopted two young kids from an abusive situation that small children often transpose the bad thing that happened to the current adults in their life. It's just how the child's mind processes things, and they have no idea it wasn't you who did it. Later in life, she'll figure it out, but in the meantime, all you can do is show her love.
Yeah is wild hearing “why Gary why” as the cops reacted, because they thought Gary Plauche was going to jail for killing this POS instead of being absolved. Good on the Baton Rouge DA!
I'm not sure a jury today would willingly convict him, much less back in 1984, so the DA probably saw the writing and possibly pedo brain matter on the wall, though he might have also agreed with him.
That case was very sad. It seemed that Marianne, after enduring a crappy life of her own, was finally finding her feet. Then to have her daughter taken that way....
That was in an airport... I couldn't understand when it happened, but now a father of an 11 year old son, oh boy ... that protective instinct is very alive ..

That cop though.
"Why, Gary? Why?"
And the Oscar for cop who totally didn't know it was gonna happen goes to...
Its because the cops knew gary well and wanted him to just get his son back and not be hurt anymore.
They never expected him to kill the guy, let alone infront of them which, while the judge was excellent could easily have been a murder charge.

Yup. And best director goes to the cameraman who called Gary and told him the exact time to be at the airport.
Judge: "you get community service" Gary: "already done bro"
For real though he took care of a literal demon.
Literally. He mowed the lawn at his church for free, the pastor said Gary could do the community service in that way, and the pastor immediately signed his service as done, and so did the probation officer.

The main difference is that the original was a moving target, which exponentially increases the difficulty of that shot.
Making it all the more incredible that Gary aired him out first try
It really doesn’t especially if you’re looking from the side like he was, Gary was already tracking him before taking the shot
I also think they were closer. I'm also surprised they were not more concerned with the pressure escaping around the cylinder.
gary: i shoot better when my target is moving
When he neared the end of his life Gary was interviewed one last time after his stroke, and was asked as the final question "Would you do it again" to which he responded with a clear "hell yes".
even better because the interviewer had to censure the answer (and i think he was also just shocked with how quickly he answered) by saying to the camera "Oh yes?"
For those who are curious, there was a documentary that featured his now adult son and his mother going into great detail about the before and aftermath.
