This group to me was such a bust in terms of what was released and also the price tag they launched it at, it has a price tag of a mid level road bike that comes with sram rival 12 speed group for 5400 usd.... and the look of group literally looks like a 1st generation fi2 10 speed.

Laughed so hard when this groupset dropped all over youtube. Campy has always been way behind the others with electronics, even gen1 di2 wasnt that chunky and @2500gm!!! Havent they listened to consumer feedback regarding the paddle size in cold weather especially using thick gloves?? Honestly this entire gruppo looks like something feom Shanghai trade show. They have gone backwards since hydro disc era.

Important: Shifters have no satellite buttons like Shimano di2....meaning that we can't use them to navigate gps units, or change gears when holding on aero position. That's sort of a deal breaker for many people

The thumb pusher had its place in a mechanical groupset because it was Campagnolo's solution to integrate the brake/shifting mechanism into the levers....For the electronic group, the Sram/Shimano solution is better and more ergonomic, being able to raise and lower gear with 3-4 fingers of the hand...whether it is gripped on the levers above (where you go many times) or in the lower part from the handlebar ... as much as you like to operate from there with the thumb

  • @charlesmansplaining

A lot of the innovations the bike industry is forcing on consumers and the pricing is driving people away. Eventually if this trend keeps up people will only consider comfort bikes for exercise and recreation. The cool factor of being inspired by the Pro racing scene and riding cool bikes like they ride will go out the door, also having the implications that people will no longer even be interested in the sport and spending their money towards it. I used to be Campy only fanboy until I went electronic. I was waiting for Campagnolo to come out with something electronic in line with Ultegra Di2 pricing and thought about converting back. But with this release, I will never own Campagnolo again. Cycling Weekly said they were very disappointed in the performance of this group and I would bet that is the very same reason the Pro Teams that were using Campagnolo switched to Shimano. If this is what Patents do to innovation then maybe there needs to be another way because there are such limited ways to shift gears on a bicycle.

Campy used to maintain it's loyal user base with thumb shifter, for the people who like thumb shifter Campy is the one to go. But they losing sales in newer cyclist. Almost 10/10 cyclist around me age group 20-30 think campy design is outdated and thumb shifter is ugly. Now they remove the thumb shifter trying to compete with SRAM and Shimano but at the same time putting a much higher price tag gonna be a huge problem. There is definitely nothing to justify why you should go for SR wireless instead of RED or DURA-ACE. I just don't think the name "Campagnolo" is worth that much anymore in 2023.

Campagnolo really wanted to have the most expensive groupset no matter what. Which is kinda awkward when it's mostly just a Sram copy, just not as good. I am so fed up with ultra premium products with absurd pricetags, I'd rather have something reasonably priced and I'm glad most people think the same by now. Otherwise, I think it's pretty good, actually. Really lightweight compared to Sram. I think gear ratios are also fine, if I lived somewhere hilly I'd love the 45-29 crankset :D they need some wider range cassettes though.

I'm older and wiser these days. I wish someone had dropped this wisdom-bomb on me back when I was young. If you aren't getting paid to ride, you don't need the top-o-the-line equipment. The best of the best of the best equipment can only ever save you seconds on the hour (at best). So if you aren't withing 'seconds' of winning whatever you are competing in, it's wasted money. Let's look at real life example. The Rocky Mountain elements comes in several 'grades'. Let's look at the C50 vs the C90. There is a $4,000 difference in prices. Near as I can tell, you will save 2lbs with the C90. Otherwise the bike will ride virtually the same. Why spend the extra $4,000?!?!? You shouldn't. You'll have the exact same amount of fun, and get the exact same results on the less expensive bike.

Not aimed at ultra cyclists: 750 km battery limit, is seriously limiting. I don’t get a 10 teeth cog either as the gear jumps increase, making a practically unusable gear on the flat, only for downhill and maybe sprinting in a bunch. So, overall, it doesn’t add meaningful features not already tried & done by SRAM or Shimano, it introduces features from said groupsets, which those already back-tracked, has limited gearing & tire options and it’s not backwards compatible like most tech usually is.
However wel constructed it might seem, this isn’t what innovation is about and it looses its iconic looks to boot.

While I don't like 10T cog, that gear is very usable together with the smaller front rings. With regards to battery life: if you're an ultra cyclist, just stay away from electronic anyway. And 750K is what most would consider enough to charge max. once a week, while you're pumping your tires anyway. The trap with longer lasting batteries is that you often forget to charge them as they will last close to a month, so you forget more easily to charge them.

It would have been better to turn that into a benefit like offering different tier of battery, like one that lasts an hour for hill climbs, another that is for casuals and another for pro racing and then offer them all in the absurd price point package. First off.....Italian manufacturing and electrical reliability don't go together. On a serious note though, the front and rear derailleur batteries are different. That's ridiculous IMO. The best part of SRAM AXS is that if either the rear or front battery fail on a ride, you can simply swap them...maybe even carry just one spare. With Campy, you couldn't swap the front battery into the rear derailleur if that one fails and you'd have to carry 2 separate and distinct backup batteries. Campy missed the mark massively on this.

Hi guys! Nice video and I like the fact it is an opinion. My take: capagnalo has been around for a long time and the craftsmanship is by far top notch. Keep in mind campy is one of the leading companies when it comes adding carbon to the drive train system. I do believe change is sometimes scary for us and for those who has seem campy for a long time! Keep in mind that campy is hand made in Italy and the craftsmanship is from serious engineering. I do agree the derailleur might be big but let’s see the performance. As you all know if you have own campy ( I have for 18+years) and shimano campy has to my opinion outperform shimano. Note; I have own super record and record. In regard to not been compatible, you can say the same for SRAM between AXS XX1 and the new sram t-type. To end, if you are a competitive cyclist, you will never run a tire larger than a 30mm rear tire. Also, I know it is hard to drop 5k but this is for the few! The select. I would buy 3 sets but now I am retired from cycling 😊. Only time will tell but sometimes change is good (or bad) 😊.

Campy could have licensed the interchangeable batteries from SRAM. But it looks like they don’t want to pay.
Shimano licensed the Look Keo cleat design when they released their SPD-SL pedal. So it’s not like this never happened before.

I'm definitely a Campagnolo fan, but I have to agree with you, that's one ugly group set. Definitely wouldn't shell out that kinda money for a group set period, let alone when it isn't even aesthetically pleasing, and as you said, Campy is essentially jewelry for your bicycle.

Diehard Campy guy. Glad I got a mechanical Record 12 groupo last year for reasonable money. Why no 13 or 14 speed? Why no 53/39? I ride AXS on my mtb’s but a road bike has an beauty about it that can’t be described. Give me mechanical rim brakes and no batteries on my road bike all day long. Disc brakes are ugly, batteries on a road bike are ugly, and this Super Record is just gross looking. No thumb shifting…why? Hey Campy you will never get Shimano or SRAM guys to switch so why ditch the thumb shifter?????????
