  • Hi Everyone!
Thanks very much for tuning in and viewing!
This is my next new bike review for 2022 and this time I'm out on the - Brand New 2022 Triumph 1200 GT PRO
This is an amazing bike, really enjoyed the time I spent with this machine!
I mention it several times in the video, but its very much like the KTM 1290 Super Adventure.
Just some comments that I think are relevant.
    1. Cruise Control does not set unless you are in 3rd Gear and going at least 29mph.
    2. The Bike does not start unless you depress the clutch - I think this is same on all Triumphs.
    3. I did struggle to change from one riding mode to another (lack of basic knowledge on the Triumph TFT functionality on my part)
    4. The Switch Gear is Backlit - BRILLIANT!
I hope you enjoy the review and of course if you have any comments or questions or then please do let me know.
Big thanks to LINGS TRIUMPH in Great Dunmow once again for letting me take this bike out.
If your Essex based and interested in this bike make sure you get down to Lings for a test ride.

The regular road mode on the bike is not set in the default setup for damping or throttle map in your demo. Someone has changed the throttle map to sport and damping to maximum. There was a much more comfy ride to be had. The little picture of a helmet on the rider mode on the dash denotes the rider mode has been customised, in this case by the throttle map. The dealer should make sure the rider modes are reset to default before letting the bike out. I can see it on the front end as you ride along. The Daytime running light switch is not on/off. That is to toggle between DRL only and combined dimmed DRL and low beam headlight.

I purchased an ex demo last week sub 14k less than a thousand miles less than a year old (just) , mint condition, negotiated lower & upper crash bars and a heated seat plus an additional years warranty. Right place right time, should be a step up from my 18 V Strom 1000 which provided faultless service over the 4 years of ownership also an ex demo (only 250 miles on the clock when I bought it).

Hi Andrew, I’ve never got onto a V Strom before but have only ever heard good things, especially for the money. Sounds like you got a great deal from triumph and I think ex demos are normally best value so very happy for you as this is an awesome bike! Thanks for viewing and sharing your experience and of course many thanks for subscribing… really appreciate it!
All the best and while you are out on your amazing new bike please do… Ride Safe.

Thank you for your review on this bike. I'm from The Netherlands and I just purchased a new 1200 GT Pro and have been comparing it to the Multistrada V2S (I know that's hard to compare, but because of it's price) and the KTM 1290 Super Adventure. The Tiger is the one for me. I won't get it until January and I've ordered the low seat with heating (not for the pillion, because I always ride solo) and a lot of other stuff. I now own a Yamaha Tracer 900 GT, which also has a smooth 3 cylinder engine that I really love, but the testride on the Tiger 1200 made me smile a lot 🙂What a bike! I now know why they call it a tiger 🐯

      Hi Linda,
Thanks for viewing and taking the time to comment. This is one of my favourite bikes without question and it does make you smile a lot! You’ve made an excellent choice and I really hope you have thousands of miles of fun filled rides. I know Netherlands shares very similar weather to the UK 🇬🇧 and the Tiger will be a great all weather bike for you.
All the best and ride safe now and in Jan when your new toy arrives!

@@TheWrittleRider Thank you. It will probably be quite cold here in January, but I won't be riding long distances then. Just some nice rides until the weather gets better and before I'll leave for at least one trip to the Black Forest in Germany in May with my son. I'd love to go and ride in England one day.

      Hi Linda,
Yes I am sure it will be very cold in January. I really get out when it’s that cold!
Hope you have a great trip to Germany when the weather warms up!
Many great rides here in the UK also of course but the weather here makes or breaks your day unfortunately!
All the best & Ride Safe.

I have the GT Explorer. It is the most comfortable bike I have ever ridden, and my last bike was a 2019 Goldwing. Sport mode with Grip puppies keeps the vibrations to a minimum, you actually get used to it. I love the GS and the Multistrada and chose this over both. 2023 early production GS's will not come with the LED headlight, and they don't know which brakes may come on the bike. Next fall the new GS will arrive so if the Tiger doesn't work out I can trade in for that. It took me a full week to decide between the Multistrada and the Tiger. Dealer network, better brakes , longer range and shaft drive pushed me to the Tiger. So far I love it, but I do have a short attention span lol.

Hi Dave, Thanks for watching and taking the time to give your comments. Shaft drive is a big plus for me. I’ve not been on a multistrada yet but looks wise I think I prefer the triumph. I’m sure you won’t regret your choice but as you say, if you fancy a change later it’s not a problem 😁.

No heated seats on the GT Pro, the Explorer models have heated seats front and rear but pretty sure they are two position.

Cheers Terry and thanks for watching, just a first ride video and I don’t necessarily have every single detail about the bike. All I can tell you is that this bike is amazing… I loved it.

Be interested in what you would consider best, GS TE or 1200 GT Pro, lots of country road travelling and the very occasional tour?

    • @TheWrittleRider
      @TheWrittleRider  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Paul,
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Firstly, both bikes would be excellent and would give you a really top end experience in comfort, capability, safety and of course pure riding joy.
The pricing of both bikes would be quite similar also.
Ultimately it would come down to personal preferences such as which engine you preferred, the look of the bike, the comfort for you (I found both bikes equally comfy as a 6’3 rider).
Running costs I expect would be similar and of course both are shaft drive.
If I really had to choose right now, having owned a BMW for some time I may well be tempted to go with the Triumph simply as it’s a totally revised machine and it’s offering something different.
The only thing i prefer on the BMW is the screen and switch gear, cruise on the BMW’s is the best on the market also in my opinion.
I would strongly recommend you test ride both (back to back same day if possible) to see what you personally prefer.
Not sure where you reside but hopefully you can find BMW and Triumph dealers close enough to you to achieve this.
Thanks once again and when your out next… Ride Safe!

@@TheWrittleRider Many thanks for your input, live near Nottingham where we have both BMW & Triumph dealers within half a mile of each other, sadly the BMW dealer have just sold their demos as they are struggling to get new stock, i will have to wait until they get more on their fleet. I currently have a Tiger 900 but feel it needs another gear and hoping the 1200 doesn’t vibrate as much!

    • @TheWrittleRider
      @TheWrittleRider  2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@paulchambers2296 Hi Paul, vibrations are noticeable but not too bad I would say. Didn’t feel excessive or to a point where it would detract from the pleasure of riding the amazing Tiger 1200 GT Pro.
It’s much much better than I remember the old Tiger 1200 to be.
As for the BMW I understand the stock issue, it’s a real pain recently even trying to get out on bikes for reviews!
Good luck with getting out on both bikes and of course your eventual choice.
      All the best…
