    Just tried your instruction video, ignition off I can just (only just) get full weight on stand pedal, but no margin left. Weigh 168lb so also need to lift and pull backwards to make sure. Switch ignition on and stand is a lot easier, why? Did wonder if setting suspension button onto 'high' instead of Auto would make this even easier?

    • @TheWrittleRider
      @TheWrittleRider วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Kevin, thanks for watching and for sharing your experience. Very interesting to hear that it’s easier to get the bike onto the centre stand with the engine running. The suspension settings will slightly decrease or increase the height the bike suspension sits at so I do agree that this is going to make a difference. Thanks again and do let us know how you get on with the higher setting. I’ll also try this out next time I’m out with the bike. Thanks and all the best…

    Watching the video (excellent by the way) when using this technique, once on the stand the rear wheel on my '22 R1250R is at least 30mm off the floor. Putting her on the stand is only just within capability even hauling upwards hard on the rear passenger rails, so it seems either my centre stand is high or the bike suspension lower than yours?

      Hi Kevin, thanks for viewing and for your kind praise. I would like to think that all models would be set up in the same way from the factory with regards to the dimensions and how the side stand works. If you are struggling I would suggest you pop into your local BMW dealer (or wherever you bought the bike from) to demonstrate the issue. Do let me know how you get on. Thanks again for viewing and when you are out next ride safe!

      Hi and thanks for your question. You can of course plug your lead in and leave the door of the cubbyhole open. You may want to think about ways to keep the door from flapping around speed though as it does click close and having a wire coming out will mean that the door is not secure.

      Well, I think it’s definitely a bike that is not mentioned that much. When I bought mine in 2020 there were literally no videos on TH-cam on the R1250R and it was one of the reasons I started my channel to share information about the bike. It’s a bike that can do everything, it can move you emotionally, it can do all the boring stuff well, it’s comfortable yet quick, and it’s made so well and i personally love how the bike looks. I don’t really think there is a naked bike out there that does everything as well in one package. It’s not as shouty as a Superduke or a Ducati Monster and more refined than any Japanese or English made pretender. I am biased, I own one, I love the bike and I honestly would not swap her out for anything currently on the market. Thansk for watching and Ride Safe!

    I have a GSA and have about 1100 miles on my MXR now. Definitely not as comfortable as my GS, but compared to my old HP4, Its really comfortable. That being said. 2nd time i rode it, i easily did a 500 mile ride on it. Also i bought all the stuff for a s1000XR so i can run the hard bags. Its all very simple.

      Hi Marshall, Thansk very much for viewing and for sharing your experience. I definitely can see that this bike will open up the possibility for anyone wanting a super sport who cannot deal with sitting in a sporty position. Thanks for advising on the hard cases also. You own two amazing bikes so I am very jealous! I absolutely loved my time with the MXR. All the best and when your out next Ride Safe.

    But why tho?

    • @TheWrittleRider
      @TheWrittleRider 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Bob, I can only assume you are asking why on the title of the video? I’ll be honest and say I don’t ride many sports bikes so in total honesty I would not know enough to begin saying if this was the best sports bike ever. It was more about having a catchy title to get people to click. That said it must be there as the most comfortable and multi dimensional sports bike out there as it is giving access to sports bike riding to more than only people who can sit in that sporty ride position which does inevitably end in aching wrists, knees and back for taller, less supple riders!

    • @bobritter7197
      @bobritter7197 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheWrittleRider thanks for the reply. My question was more one of bewilderment at the whole... sticking that much hp in a tall touring bike, but your video (& reply) explain it very nicely. I've been away from proper biking so long, that bike is maybe a bit beyond my comprehension, a series of slightly insane concepts, if you like. I think I might be a bit of a "less is more" type of bloke. Maybe one day I'll ride one and I might actually get it. 😄 Loved the video though, & thanks again for taking the time to reply. 👍

      Hi Chris, thanks for viewing and taking the time to comment. Glad you liked the video. While I was on the bike, I didn’t think it was uncomfortable, but then I got on a GS afterwards. let’s just say it was like getting onto a comfortable sofa after sitting on a wooden chair😁… don’t get me wrong, by Sports bike standards it’s a very comfortable bike… but not as comfortable as a GS or your R1250 R for sure. I would recommend you at least take one for a spin though as it’s a wonderful bike… you just need to try and not lose your license though as it’s so easy to go very very very quick! All the best and when you are out next… Ride Safe.

    Thank you for posting. I cannot afford one of these, but out of interest tried to get an insurance quote. My current bike is a BMWR1250R which I have been riding for over 3 years (4th summer), and my insurance cost me £260 in June (full comp. + trimmings). My bike before that was a Suzuki GXR750R. My current status is: Employed in an innocuous job. Full no claims on a bike. Full no claims in a car. Zero points on licence. No health impediments. No convictions. Keep bike, along with son's bike, covered in a locked compound at my home. Have datatool and a heavy duty chain lock. Live in Rural Norfolk (not exactly a crime crentre) Just want social use cover (use car to get to work). However..... On compare websites, got no quotes for this bike??? What do they want ? To have my home surrounded by a shark infested moat, with 24/7 manned machine gun towers and barbed wire fencing surrounding my bikes? If I run into money, will have to give this bike a miss. Not a moan, just FYI. Not sure if BMW are aware of this. However did get quotes for an H2 and a ZX10, but a lot of money (ca £1200) plus not interested in the bikes.

    • @TheWrittleRider

      Hi Malcolm, thanks for watching and for your most amusing comments. Sounds ridiculous that you were not even offered any quotes. I know bike theft in the UK is a big problem (I had a bike stolen a few years back from my driveway) but based on your statement of facts it’s very surprising! Oh well, when you do win the lottery you’ll have to move to another country and then buy the bike 😁. All the best and Ride Safe!

      Hi and thanks for watching. There is a calculation dependant on your weight for this and it’s explained on page 108 of the bikes manual. To start, turn the adjuster as far as it will go counter clockwise and then act as follows depending on your weight: 75kgs - turn adjuster clockwise 3.5 turns 85kgs - 5 Turns clockwise 95kgs - 7 Turns clockwise 105kgs - 8 Turns clockwise For two up riding it’s 18.5 Turns clockwise. Hope this helps… all the best and Ride Safe!

      Hi Alex, thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment. I would say it not worth Paying thousands more if you can find a low mileage 1200. Even if you test ride both bikes back to back it would be hard to really notice much of a difference. I loved my R1200 also and ride wise it’s almost identical. Good luck with your decision!

    • @TheWrittleRider
      @TheWrittleRider 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Darren, I understand what you mean but I am not sure how much this would affect your premium. You would need to go through the quote process and click the options of driveway / Garage etc. I’m not sure this is a specific option on insurance quote so you may need to speak to a broker in person. If you can get the floor anchor into the tin also then I cannot see what more you can do and it should be cheaper than saying it’s just left on your driveway or on the road for example.

      @@TheWrittleRider hi thanks for the reply mate I have checked insurance based off a new bike I was looking at buying & for driveway even with anchor & chain they wanted £6k for insurance & with a garage £800 so was just wandering but I will give the brokers a ring, I was just checking & I think Bennett’s class them as garages

      Hi Again, glad to hear there may be a more sensible price available. A side point away from the insurance. The metal does tend to make the cold worse on the battery in the winter so do bare that in mind if you get one. Trickle charge definitely needed as opposed to brick garages that give a bit more warmth over the winter months. All the best with it…

    Does your model have dynamic or just road mode?

      @TheWrittleRider 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi There Again, my own R1250R has Rain, Road, Dynamic and Dynamic Pro (I don’t really use this). Normally I keep her in Dynamic pro with the suspension damping set to Road or Dynamic. I’ve had my bike for 4 years now and still only just starting to push up into 6000 revs and above to enjoy the maximum torque 😁

      @@AmenCornerRider well, I’ve done a review on the R9T and it looks like the R12 still has the 1200 engine. It’s a beautiful bike to look at but the reverb and rumble always left me tired after not too long. I’ll maybe pop by BMW and see how the new R12 feels but personally I prefer the 1200 and 1250 R to the only 9T. I understand the attraction, beautiful machines and well made, but not so sure on the way they ride 😁. I’ll be sticking with my R1250 until they put the 1300 Into that model and then I might think about changing ! All the best with it and Ride Safe…

    • @TheWrittleRider
      @TheWrittleRider 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Wouter, the dealers had to tinker around with it to get it working properly. I only took the bike out for one day. Typically after a few 000’ miles these parts will loosen up and work better, typically after the 2nd service as the first one comes after only a few hundred miles…

    Hi. Are you pressing a button on the keyless at the same time as the start power button? I have a fully loaded 2023 RS that I cannot find anything in the menu to setup the alarm. The alarm is not listed as an available option on the configuration page either. It looks like you might be pressing the button on the fob?

    • @TheWrittleRider
      @TheWrittleRider 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Keweenawbee, if your bike has an alarm it will be on the menu as I have shown in the video. If there is no option then I assume you don’t have one. The key fob will also allow you to arm and disarm the alarm manually by pressing the buttons.

    I think i'd prefer the RT1250...But I'll stick to my RS1250. I never understood the market for this beast of a bike in the UK, USA/Australia would be it best market. I think you will find if you look at the back of the brakes they say Brembo (some deal with BMW front and Brembo on the rear).

    One thing I find useful is being able to change the suspension settings from Road to Dynamic and vice versa independent of the Mode function. To do this choose the Mode 1st, then set the suspension on the LH switchgear like you've shown. As an example this allows you to choose dynamic/dynamic pro mode on the RH handlebar grip, then change the suspension from Dynamic to Road on the LH grip if the road surface conditions change etc leaving everything else in dynamic. You can also put it in Road mode and change the suspension to dynamic if say you come to a really nice smooth bit of tarmac (though that will probably not happen in the UK 😂)

    • @TheWrittleRider
      @TheWrittleRider 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Bazz, thanks for viewing and commenting. I agree and also contrary to what I said on my video short the Damping can be adjusted while the bike is moving. Only the preload has to be set while stationary. It’s a really odd feeling as the suspension rises and falls! All the best and yes, not too many smooth roads here in the uk… mostly full Of holes these days 😁

  • @Pyrrho_
    @Pyrrho_ 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    A thing not mentioned about the ride modes and suspension settings is that on the left-hand handlebar is a suspension button. Pressing it cycles between road and dynamic. Leave the throttle in dynamic by setting it in ride mode, and use the suspension button as road conditions change.

    • @TheWrittleRider
      @TheWrittleRider 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Pyrrho, thanks for watching and for your comment. You are quite right. The button can set the suspension to different modes. Engine has to be running but bike stationary for it to function. Missed it out on this particular video so thanks for pointing this out. All the best and Ride Safe…

      Hi Tomislav, as a hobbyist vlogger I don’t always get the edit done as well as I may like! Thansk for mentioning but to be honest perhaps not a major concern! I am happy that the video was useful to you and yes, without the boxes you can filter very easily on this bike… with the boxes it’s a bit trickier but that’s standard on most bikes. Good luck with your hunting for a suitable commuter bike… although if it’s just a cheap commuter you are after I would check out the the XSR 700 or even a Suzuki sv650…

    Have you had any issues with when you are connected to a group intercom the music goes mute? Done the same connection procedure as you by the way on my R1250GS with, Sena 20 Evo, mobile cradle and a android phone. I can see the song is playing on the TFT screen and I can pause it and start it again but the music does not come through the speakers in to the helmet. If I leave the group intercom, I then can control my music via the TFT and hear it again. Would be nice to acually have both as it did work when I don`t connect to the TFT sceen and only pair the Sena to the phone. Thanks for the video!

      @TheWrittleRider 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi KJ, Thansk for watching and for your comments. Honestly I have not tried to listen to music as I like to stay focused when I ride and I may get too into the music! I do have connection issues though. For example when I start the bike and then start my senna the bike may connect to my phone and not the head set and then I need to go into settings and select the headset so there are definite gremlins in the systems. Making sure you have the most up to date firm ware is always recommended so this may help if you’re not up to date. Otherwise Senna support or your local BMW dealer may be able to assist. Wish you all the best with it and thanks again for watching.

    Thank you for showing this. I ride mine in Dynamic all the time. The only difference I notice is I do not have to open the throttle so far, which is kind on the wrist. Once when one is used to the bike one just uses care in wet weather. As for pro, I think that is where one can set the bike up, but the stock bike is fine for me, a guy of average height and weight.
