    This is off-roader one of a near extinct branch, it is not a proper motorway road car. It is make to take you nearly everywhere slowly but non-stop. So SUViors do not get it. It is for proper off-roaders.

    Firstly, I love my Jimny. It goes everywhere I want to go, camping, off road around the farm and it's also doing highway drive absolutely fine. It's a 4x4 funster. Park it anywhere, fuel consumption is fine and I can get a fully grown malamute and a great dane in the back at the same time with the seats down, what more could you want. :)

      Hello Sir, thank you for your comment. I wanted to seek your advise on that highway driving experience, would you rate 7/10 for the ride quality compared to a say a compact hatchback car just for compararision sake... I just need that view as I am looking forward to the 5 door version recently launched. So that ballpark score (say a days long drive of 400kms .. compared to a cheap hatchback car.. ) your feedback will be helpful. Many Thanks. Most of mu driving will be city (60%), highway (30%) and rare offroad (almost nil) buy still want to own Jimny... so a score > 5/10 on highway will be worth considering

      @Ktheodoss 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Maybe there’s different terms in different countries. In the USA, this is exactly what is meant as a SUV. SUV stands for sport utility vehicle, which is built on a ladder frame, much like a truck would be, and is 4WD equipped. Its purpose is to combine the needs of an everyday driving car with the ability to traverse rugged terrain for “sporting” activities. Therefore vehicles such as Toyota 4Runner, Jeep Wranglers, and the Suzuki Jimny are SUVs. On the other hand, AWD vehicles that are built from typical car frames are called Crossovers or CUVs. Examples would be Subaru Forester, Honda CRV, Toyota Rav4, Jeep Cherokee.

    for goodness sakes, it's not an SUV, it's an off-roader 4x4 - Why on earth are so many european reviewers labeling this as an SUV?
    SUV's can't take on foot deep mud bogs, deep ruts or climb rock faces. And generally, neither do they have low range gears.

    • @bingobongo1615
      @bingobongo1615 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      SaibaKeiosu While I agree with you, I would also like every American/Canadian etc here to keep in mind that in most European countries you cannot legally and easily go off-road. My grandpa owns a big forest so he goes off-road with a reason but for just fun off-road drives there are only a few off-road parks availlable

      Sigh. So completely wrong. The Toyota Landcruiser, one of the most respected off-road vehicles of all time and with low range gears, locking diffs etc etc is described *by Toyota* AS AN SUV. Toyota's revenue was US$260 billion last year, you don't think they'd get it right? Same applies for other classic old fashioned off-roaders with low range gears like the Wrangler, Patrol, Shogun, etc etc.

    I’ve had a 2004 Jimny for nearly 10 yrs now. No, it’s not that refined on the highway or motorway, but it comes into it’s own when you leave the blacktop behind. It will get into tracks and narrow lanes that Range Rover drivers would tremble at taking their shiny status symbols into. Give me the choice of a R Rover or one of these affordable REAL 4x4s I’d take the Jimny everytime. Can’t wait till they start coming on to the 2nd hand market after a bit of depreciation has taken place.

    100hp for a 44 this size is great. I had a 1981 Toyota Hilux short bed truck and it had 100hp, i put a camperett on it and good tires climbed like a billy goat. In 1986 the chev 6.2 diesel only had 140 hp then the chev 6.5 had 160, and the 6.5 turbo had 180. The 1986 dodge and ford diesels had 160hp and the 1988 ford and dodge diesels had 180hp. Now everything has 200-500hp, i wish commentators remembered or understood that o-60 is not the way to drive and that driving from point a to be used to be enjoyable and not a race.

    • @server1ok

      HP shows the output at high rev. The older engines tolerate more abuse, rev lower for the same output and last longer. Big engines are however impossible to get, or have to be direct imported by a private person, if you live anywhere outside of the US. For offroad, displacement matters, for all of the above reasons and because you can't ( or shouldn't ) rev in mud. Today, you can't get the standard Jimny in the EU. The 1.5 l engine is considered "too big". So you are absolutely wrong. People want decent engines, the Gov. makes it impossible, and the Gov. ( after blocking the good engines ) is fooling the consumer with turbos and high pressure engines that should have been installed in a moped or a MC

  • @waclosh
    @waclosh 6 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    Actually this car has everything it needs to outlast any of its "competition". You needn't worry about subframes, bushings, control arms, sway bar links, turbos, high pressure pumps and direct injectors, sludge build-up on intake valves, cv-joints... if you drive this on road, it has all the stuff to outlast any recent compact car, any recent citySUV and any recent budget family car.

    • @dposcuro
      @dposcuro 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      ...What are you talking about? The Jimny has bushings, control arms, sway bars, and cv joints. The axles are connected to the vehicle by links, or control arms, which have bushings at both ends. Also, which is worse? When a sub frame rusts away, or when the frame rusts away?

    • @clooperman3745
      @clooperman3745 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dposcuro The Jimny's cv joints are inside the axle housing so no rubber boot to worry about, all the suspension bushes are easily replaced without having to dismantle anything else first (same setup on my Defender Td5 and I replaced all of them on my drive) subframes have a nasty habit of their mountings rusting away quite quickly, certainly more so than a chassis frame, lets hope the new Defender is better protected!!!!

    It's always amusing when reviewers criticise a tiny car for not having much interior space. Yes it is small on the inside. That's because it's small on the outside. You can fit 4 adults in no problem and I think interior space is on a par with similar sized cars (Fiat 500 etc)

    I have had many different off road cars. I recently sold my Nice Wrangler, and I now drive a Jimny. It is a fantastic small car, and I really like it, because it does what the more posh cars do without bragging about it. This New Jimny looks really impressive. One thing is, they have gone back to a leaver to engage 4x4, instead of the stupid Electric switch that was put there because the silly Magazines said they needed. Way to go Suzuki, this is what Jeep and Land Rover originally were all about.

    I’m very interested in this car. Early reports were that this car would start at £13k here in the uk which I felt was a fair price. But now, I’m hearing it’s actually going to be starting at £17k. If that’s the case, then I think Suzuki have shot themselves in the foot. I mean you can get a great spec Dacia Duster with all the extras you need for £13k.

    • @sbomorse
      @sbomorse 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The £17K is going to be for the top spec SZ5. I doubt it'll start any less than about £15-£16K in the UK though.
      Suzuki are going a bit mad with pricing right now - the new Swift Sport is £18K! Still £17K for the top spec Jimny is great value considering what it will do and the hardware it's packing, not to mention it's stuffed with kit the Dacia Duster doesn't even get as options: full led headlights, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian protection and keyless entry.

    The Jimny better suited to our country - with the constant 'rough' highway/city roads and floods during the rainy season and unpredictable road conditions during the summer season . The high ground clearance is a necessity... 4WD capability is a bonus... Might look at the last version model because of its small engine size might make more affordable to run given the weekly increase in the fuel prices here.

    This... is EXACTLY what I'm looking for!!! I don't want all leather interior, pretty glued on baubles and a car that 'drives itself' in city traffic. I want a car that will get me through the commute to and from work so I can GTFO and go off-road on the weekend without having to worry about scratching the paintwork or getting bogged so bad I miss work on Monday. A 4WD is not supposed to feel like you're driving on a cloud, it's supposed to keep you driving safely where road cars can't.
    As long as it's SAFE on the city roads, I don't care about the aesthetics. And it has Jesus bars all over the place!! I didn't think I'd ever see a car like this again. Can't wait to test drive this one :D

    i'd say it's the perfect offroader, light, great angles, proper suspension and japanese reliability. apart from the fact that it doesn't have something like crawl control to get itself unstuck when in deep sand, it can shame anything from a hummer to a land cruiser off road.

    I own a 03 Jimny and it's still going strong today. Passes the NCT each year with no problems and I have it serviced every 10k miles. I don't take it off road as often as i'd like and it turns on a dime so town and city driving is a doddle.

  • @drnh4444
    @drnh4444 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This is a serious off road vehicle. The Jimny has always been under estimated for its off road performance. It will more than keep up to any off road vehicle. If you want a great car and most of your use is off road then why would you spend 4 times the price on a Land Rover? Besides... This looks way cooler than a Discovery. Personally I really do like this. Not in this colour, but overall its a great value and capable car.

    O my why o why do you car reviewers constantly go on about things that im sure the buyer has already thought about and is fine thats why they bought the car yet you reviewers just winge about it !
    it doesnt like corners ! if i wanted a car that corners at uk max A road speeds 60mph i would go buy a ST/RS they apparantly go round corners as tho they are on rails as thats what they were/are designed to do ! the Jimny is not so why harp on about it ! and it ONLY does 90mph ! you see that as a problem aswell lol the max speed limit in the UK is 70 so how is it a problem !
    You wine on about the boot space ! how many cars and this includes the Jimny will constantly have rear passengers err 98% empty more than likely, think iv had 3 rear passengers in the last 5 years ! so rear boot space is not going to be a issue as the seats will be down 98% time giving a huge boot space !
    The Jimny is targeted at folks who need/want a very capable off roader that can also be used on the road and it is just that, i have already ordered mine last month and cannot wait for the phone to ring and say its ready to be collected, what made me buy it ! well i drive a lot of off road game keeper farm activities i have had all the land rovers over the years and have been driving shoguns for the last 12 years but the 1st sight of this new Jimny was WOW it looks so retro its sick and NO it does not look remorely like a land rover, a G wagon yes but not a land rover.
    Im assuming if you were to review the latest Land Rover vogue you would be singing its praises as an ideal off roader because it cost over 100k lmao my Daughter has one and im sick of dragging it out of muddy holes with a 10 year old Shogun ! its off road capabilities are aweful period. A Jimny would run rings around it.

      I replaced my aging Land Rover 90" Td5 with a new Jimny, it is quieter, more refined and more economical, it will probably be more reliable not that my Td5 had many problems, I don't need either the carrying capacity or huge towing ability of the Td5 but I do need proper offroad ability and the Jimny is perfect for me, my girlfriend and our 3 dogs. Defenders don't like going round a corner at 60mph and can they even get to 90mph!!!!!!!

    This would make a fine commuter SUV for those who live in areas with heavy snow fall and want to have some weekend off road fun, if they have a second car for road trips. I use to have a 1988 Suzuki Samurai and it was great in the snow, but not on the highway. I've made the compromise from SUV to CUV and now drive a Subaru Forester and love it. I don't do heavy off roading anymore, but still have the capability of going through deep snow and light off roading. #Subaru

    the company projected sales of the vehicle is only 6500 a year. suzuki is not making money on this, even it’s going to double the projection this year. people who are going to actually purchase these are people who are just so grateful that suzuki is making this. and they are so happy about this model saying it’s the best one of all. it’s too bad the reviewer didn’t understand that there are so many places on this earth that only this car can reach. being made so well in such a small package at this price is just so unique existence that no one else did this for entire life of this model which is over twenty years.
    the reviewer didn’t look super capable and he didn’t exceed his appearance. a typical youtube pollutant, because it’s a smash hit in japanese market and he failed to show any of the great improvements suzuki made for this new model.
