    Great project well executed. For what it is worth one of your statements in the video rung a bell in my own head. I use the Pferd .030 cutting disks exclusively. The thinner kerf greatly reduces the sparks and accumulated hot metal bits on your arm, and I have found that I can cut within thousandths on one side of a scribe line with no guide clamped in place. Just my $.02.

    I definitely want to do this to my 68 El Camino. I want to put 2 batteries,an electric power steering pump and an electric a/c compressor! Nice work and love the instrument panel!

    Sweet! Outstanding job! I am a Ranchero nut I know Ford anyway I got my first one in 1980 or so 1973 Ranchero GT They all have the shape in the floor I used hood pins to hold mine down so it was just a pull off hatch, But always wanted to do something like this and after seeing your Build I am going to do it! Thank you Sir for doing all the hard work and posting it for us, Also Love what you did with the Dash!

    Trick engineering/execution on the "trunk". Bed turned out awesome.

    Great work. I may do that to my 79 El Camino. It has a much larger "smuggler" compartment that goes across almost the whole width of the bed and much deeper leading towards the back. It has no natural door access from the top but If I do this, I will have to cut open an access door. Thanks for filming the steps to your project.

    Hello Dean! What year Nissan Max did you get those hinges from? Do you know the part number? You did an awesome job! The best video I’ve seen on this subject by far! I want to do the exact thing to my 68 el Camino.

    Good engineering but if it like mine you need to make sure you park up hill- that is gonna get flooded 😮. Drain hole one🤔

      It has drains in the bottom. And I don't envision this car sitting out in the weather much :)

    How did you waterproof the trunk lid?

    • @TheDeanjenkins
      @TheDeanjenkins  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I guess I threw people off when I called it a "trunk," and that created the image of a car trunk that is watertight.
      I never intended for this "rear storage compartment" to be waterproof and it is not. The only thing in there is the battery and maybe I'll throw in some jumper cable, a jack and a lug wrench. All of which can get wet.
      I did cover and seal the original "smugglers box" opening to the cab, so that part is water tight.

    Why did they make that access panel in the bed to begin with? Why didn't they extend the bed floor end to end?

      I can only guess . . .
