Like button smashed! If only you posted this a year ago before I got fished in on the all the Chemical Guys hype on the "new and improved formula with 12 months of protection". As well as some strategically placed fan boys. Bottom line, the only thing they sell that is halfway decent are the soaps(after you navigate the 4323 different kinds). I have tried Pete's, Blacklight and Jetseal. Blacklight is OK (5 out of 10). P21S lasts longer than all that CG has to offer and that is a very short term wax. Thank you Jimbo for cutting though the hype.
Why? Just apply the Meguiars Ceramic Wax - that will last longer because it's not stuck on a "foundation of sand", you'll save a bunch of time by not applying Jetseal and, although it's a bit late now , you'll save yourself 40 bucks!
I've used Jet Seal on my black 2014 Vette and I had the same results as you did Jimbo. I did top it off though with Butter wax . Needless to say I'll being using something else from now on.
johnny ringo only chemical guys product i still use, only use it for tires though, holds pretty well for a water based tire dressing. Gives just the right amount of shine for my liking I now use mostly carpro products but still prefer the vrp over the pearl for tire applications
I own a lot of CG products, I'm satisfied with majority of them, but taking into account the price, JetSeal has been the biggest dissapointment in my arsenal. I used it a few times, doesn't last a month. Enough said.
It never was the standard. It was always hype that many experienced people just refused to buy into. Majority of these "boutique" products are trash with many over the counter products surpassing them in performance by far. Well, stupid ass chemical guys is OTC now too these days.
I think the torture test would be better if you didn’t throw wheel cleaner (that’s not for the paint) on a product like that and instead just washed which is what people are gonna do
It's a shame the chemicals guys sealant stuff doesn't work that well. As all of the shampoos/ detailers/trim gels and glass cleaners are great and easy to work with.
I agree, they're not all bad. They have some solid products. But their paint care line specifically is basically outdated garbage now. Their V line of compounds and polishes are some of the worst I've ever used. Weak cut, dusts easily, flashes instantly, etc. Why they don't update or replace all of them with modern chemistry is beyond me, it's not like they lack the resources.. If they devoted themselves to streamlining and improving the products they already have, and focused on the basics, instead of putting out even *more* mediocre products that nobody asked for, they could get somewhere..
The only products I like from CG are a couple different acrylic glazes and some air fresheners. All their correction and protection products are just so sub-par. Literally, almost any retail Meguiar's and Turtle Wax product will give you such better performance at a much better price.
I noticed on the CG site they suggest using this, and layer it with their Butter wet wax. Has anyone tried that. I actually like and have used the Butter wet wax, it’s easy and looks good but does not last. One other product that I’ve used is Turtle Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray. Is not expensive and lasts, but the shine is not great. I would rather use any product that I can use my orbital polisher but that’s me.
So what are the products that you'd recommend that are better than JetSeal? I just got a new car and live in South Florida, so I want a good weather protection for it. I applied the JetSeal hoping this helps protect. What are your thoughts?
The results don't surprise me after looking at the Jet Seal SDS. Water: equal or less than 30%, Dimethyl Siloxane (where the shine enhancement is coming from, silione oil) equal or less than 5%, Carnauba (which I was surprised by with marketing claims as a synthetic sealant) equal or less than 28%, Diatomaceous Earth (thickening agent?) equal or less than 4%, Aluminum Oxide (mild polishing agent?) equal or less than 20%, Isokanes (by my research, looks like a chemical binder or solvent carrier?) equal or less than 30%, Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE, Teflon. Here's our synthetic nano-sealant!) equal or less than 20%. All other ingredients are so low in concentration it really doesn't matter in terms of volume by weight.

when I wrote and asked why Jet Seal, EZ Creme, Wet mirror, Black Light Hybrid Glaze have an identical composition, they just began to delete my comments from everywhere
So much damn product, how different can you get from product to product? The market is so saturated. Makes you wonder how many products are the same exact thing with a different label
Chemical Guys aren’t all that bad, just like many company’s they have some really good stuff, some really bad stuff, and some decent stuff. I always research, and shop around for the best of things that I need without tying myself down to one specific line of products. I’ve recently used chemical guys white light on my pearl white 2019 Kia, and it looks smooth as glass and the white metallic paint just pops, then I topped it with meguiar’s hybrid ceramic liquid wax, and my suv is glossy wet, and very well protected with some crazy water beading.
Thank you very much Just had a reply from Chemical guys. They are claiming that their glaze Glossworkz Ultimate e glaze super Finnish with jetseal over it will last 6 months . There are no review on that Glaze showings it's filling capabilities. Wonder if that glaze will fill better than ordinary paste wax , like Fuso coat which doesn't fill much ...... After your review on Jetseal I would rather put Fuso coat over Glaze works in hope that it will truly last 6 months and have good water reppelancy , or even 2 coats of Fuso over that glaze. Could you please kindly make a video testing that glaze for filling capabilities
Great video! I watched the Chemical Guys on applying this product. They applied the butter wet wax over the jet seal. Not sure if that makes a difference. Looks like the wax would act as a barrier over the seal, making it last longer if cleaned and taken care of right. What’s your thoughts?
Chemical guys = over priced joke! Only thing I use of theirs is VRP and Mr.Pink. (Only cause they were super cheap and thought why not). It’s funny all the people who rave about their products cause the brand name, but don’t do research and watch videos like this. They do a good job marketing, for sure lol. Another great video for us DYI’ers Jimbo! Great job!
I mean to be fair, we're not going to be driving through a storm of tire cleaner so even though it was removed easily, that's kind of a good thing i would think. The school of thought when washing a car is to get the old off and prepped for the new product. That would be hard to do if hidden blotches of sealant and wax are all over the paint. That would in theory cause the new sealants not to work to the best of their ability.
I enjoyed your video, it was very informative and spot on. I personal have a lot of CG products in my arsenal. And in my opinion, I believe that their products are designed to work best if you layer them with their products. For instance you can combine the mirror wash glaze, seal it with jet seat ant top it of with wet butter wax and the en result looks great. And I believe it will offer the protection it does if you do it that way. Now I do think, they should state that in the instructions and not just generalize them like they do
It also says give it a 12hr cure time 🤷🏼♂️ .. I put 3 chemical guys products on my car recently. White light ( let cure for 24hrs ) Jet Seal ( let cute 24hrs ) Butter Wet Wax ( let cure for 24hrs ) then I used their cherry scented speed wipe ..
Yes my experience was the same...did not bead very well and sheeting was limited. Only used it once and moved to a different product all together. Failing grade from me as well.
What is the best product to use then? I used to use chemical guys until they started filtering out their negative reviews on their website. I need a good product to protect my Santa Fe sport.
Hi Jim question about your opinion about it a couple of different products nothing on this video. Do you think turtle wax seal and shine is more durable than the turtle wax Ceramic spray coating. I think the seal and shine is definitely more durable. I think next year turtle wax will probably refine the ceramic spray coating and make it more durable
Go for seal and shine cost only 9.00 got mine for 6.99 and top it off with colinnite it’s been six months nothing stick bird bombs just fly off with just water
This is entertaining and all , but obviously these videos are targeting people who know nothing about detailing or detailing products. These tests are ridiculous and prove nothing lol.. Applying a sealer & wax then soaking it with a solvent and acting surprised it stripped it off? WTF ... lol... these videos are just as gimmicky as chemical guys labels SMH..
Typical Chemical Guys product. It's all marketing of products that dont perform well and are way overpriced. I went to my local store in in socal and the staff was a joke. No customer service at all. I will not be back. Much better products on the market for less money that actually work. Thanks Jimbo!
Adam's Car Shampoo (can sit in the sun without damaging as much as others), any brand iron remover (I use meguiars; eagle one is a cheaper alternative or I would probably use Adam's), turtle wax's seal n shine wax and turtle wax's hybrid wet ceramic wax (usually as drying aide), I use Meguiar's detail spray as a clay lube; not sure if there is something better out there, and for tires I would probably say p&s brake buster. I don't have any interior cleaning solutions...usually just use armour all wipes, baby wipes, or just water. Any suggestions would be appreciated as well.
Hey Jim I have a question. Want to take a fairly fresh ceramic spray coating it’s about a month old. And I want to try something else. I really don’t want to buff or break out the orbital buffer to get the stuff off. Do you thing going All over the car like I was prepping it with 70% rubbing alcohol would take the ceramic coating off it’s a spray ceramic coating.
@@autodetailingpodcast Hey im searching for a good ceramic top sealer or something like that. I have seen all these products get destroyed and end up washing off and they are always super expensive. Do you personally have any recommendations ?
Can you PLEASE do a video review on sprayway sio2 ceramic wax. Have only seen one video. I really would like to see what you think thanks Jim have a great day
I have not had this experience with Jet Seal + Butter Wax. Of course the wheel cleaner will take it off. I have uses Jet Seal + Butter Wax with much better results. I think this is an unfair test of Jet Seal.
I've used this on my track motorcycle and topped up with Meguiars Ultimate Liquid Wax afterward. It looks great but I do doubt it'll last a year (I keep the bike in my workshop year round and it sees daylight a handful of times a year). I'll see how well it lasts. I admit, I kinda fell for the hype surrounding the product and I realise now that they are kings of the marketing game. I'm pretty much Bilt Hamber, Gyeon, Autoglym and Carpro now
Is any of the CGs stuff worth the $$? I am planning to buy one of their All Season Arsenal Builder kit, on sale & a 20% discount. Is it worth it? Seems that for the price it is. Reading the comments, their higher end waxes, sealants & coatings aren't that special?
@@jp2421 I used their dedicated strip wash (clean slate) at about 3x concentration and it didn't do much. It isn't very lubricating either so I could feel the microfiber dragging. Not pleasant.
CG waterless wash is legit as hell, along with VRP for engine and plastics detailing. Other than that I don’t feel like they’re the benchmark in detailing as they once were a few years ago. They need a grand-slam product and they don’t really have one that came out recently. I still turn to their videos for “How-to’s” but other than that I don’t purchase many CG products.
THANK YOU for doing this. I have the jet seal and I've been wondering what benefit would the hydro slick offer over this and if it was worth getting if I already had jet seal
Hi Jim was watching a older video of yours. You may stop Maguires hybrid ceramic spray versus Maguires hybrid ceramic liquid wax. And personally I like the spray wax better absolutely you’re right the technology has come far enough where you can get plenty of protection in a spray. But once in a while I like to use a paste wax. But for me it must be easy to apply and easy to remove I don’t want to break my arm removing it. What I like is. S100 paste wax it’s carnauba . I’m sure you know that. I like to use Maguires ultimate paste wax easy on easy off. And another paste wax I like to use is poor boys world. Natty’s paste wax . All three of them are very easy on easy off. If I want really long durability but it is a little harder to remove. In the beginning of the spring I’ll put on Fusso 99.That’s just a short take on the wax is I like.
Nobody has made this video of ethos Ceramic wax Pro versus McGuire’s liquid ceramic wax. You know the stuff in the green bottle. Can you please make that video it would be great and you would be the first one to have it.
I have got Jet Seal Matte, just as there are not many products for Matte paint that are not professional ceramic coatings, can you suggest any alternatives for Matte paintwork? I really like their Matte detailer, that's great and the Matte wash is great because I can guarantee no gloss enhancers in it, and it is nice and slick.
God damn it. I just bought this stuff for 40 plus tax at Canadian tire. I'm going to return it. I normally just buy the $10 mother's but wanted a sealer because people say they last longer. For this price I might switch it for the meguiars ultimate, that is awesome stuff
LOL CG is one of those marketing brands that I can say I will never purchase again. I have their car soap which is, OK I guess but V07 and butter wet wax, neither of which i would bother touching again
So ......Hypothetically ! If my car gets hit by a MAC TRUCK and fuel starts pouring out and my car catches on fire .... CAN I SEE THE FLAMES BEAD OFF OF THE PAINT ? JUST ASKING FOR A FRIEND... LOL ..
Wow! OK here is the deal. If you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing its stupid. If you judge a paint sealant by its ability to withstand harsh wheel cleaning chemicals, it will make it look as if its no better than spitting on your hood and rinsing it off with a garden hose in 30 seconds lol. Point being, this may not be a good product at all, but the test was not exactly fair to the sealant. The bottle said it was this and that but it does not claim it will not be affect by a wheel cleaner. This is why companies are forced to add warning labels that read something like, "DONT EAT THIS. ITS RAT POISON". Because people will eat it and then say we'll it didn't say not to lolol. OK jokes aside I won't be buying this product hahahahaha. But still. Put it up against some other ones its not likely that many would last very long against wheel cleaner. Lol. I've used many chemical guys products and I like them. But I take really good care of my car and I can't sat I've ever tested them against brake cleaner lol. Anyway thanks for the vid anyway but would love to see how this one does against other products.
They have always gone in hard with advertising and really trying to make Jet Seal sound like a miracle wax........it's not and never has been. I'd sooner use their butter wet wax.

Jet Seal definitely use to be a standard but has definitely fallen short as we saw in this video. Great video as always brother!

CG (chemical guys) = colored gel 😂
Colored Gel/colored water and smell
The only CG product i do like and use is their ceramic suds n wash and the blacklight.
Agreed
Chemical Gay boys
I like several of their cleaners and car washes like citrus wash and gloss and fabric clean, but their waxes (all of them) suck hard!
I have a bottle of this stuff that's labeled 2011, with the old style label. Little bit goes a long way. Used on a bunch of cars
I got the same result, so applied turtle wax ceramic spray after Ipa wipe. It seems like turtle wax ceramic spray works much better
Thing is they say to use the hydro then top it with her seal then a wax.
The only products I like from CG are a couple different acrylic glazes and some air fresheners. All their correction and protection products are just so sub-par. Literally, almost any retail Meguiar's and Turtle Wax product will give you such better performance at a much better price.
Why did you add so little product?
Good to see you found the Bowden's Own products to test. Like to see more of those please
I noticed on the CG site they suggest using this, and layer it with their Butter wet wax. Has anyone tried that. I actually like and have used the Butter wet wax, it’s easy and looks good but does not last.

The results don't surprise me after looking at the Jet Seal SDS. @@henryfreeman6113 or turtle wax seal and shine for ease of use!
Dave S. True!
Someone should test Wowo's Crystal Sealant. It's a beast, it's the longest lasting non proper coating product I know.
Nah
CG isn't all that impressive. The only two things I've ever used and liked were the VRP and their waterless wash. Everything else is beyond meh.
Glossworkz is pretty decent too in fairness
I like the vrp from them
Their soaps are fine lol
Kyle Feilmeier their citrus wash is great when you use it at 3x concentration as a strip wash but very ordinary otherwise
@@jp2421 I used their dedicated strip wash (clean slate) at about 3x concentration and it didn't do much. It isn't very lubricating either so I could feel the microfiber dragging. Not pleasant.
Test WoWo's crystal sealant! See if it holds up to its 9-12 month durability claim.
Review on Adams h2o guard and gloss please 😁
What did he use to kill it
CG waterless wash is legit as hell, along with VRP for engine and plastics detailing. Other than that I don’t feel like they’re the benchmark in detailing as they once were a few years ago. They need a grand-slam product and they don’t really have one that came out recently. I still turn to their videos for “How-to’s” but other than that I don’t purchase many CG products.
Aloha Jimbo! Love the channel! Can u do a torture test on TLC Version 2 vs TLC Black ice!
Can you a comparison of turtle wax ceramic vs hydroslick!
THANK YOU for doing this. I have the jet seal and I've been wondering what benefit would the hydro slick offer over this and if it was worth getting if I already had jet seal
It says "Leave car dry for 12 hours until water."
For the price, go get PolySeal from Xtreme Solutions.
should do vo7 quick detailer
I've never used Jet Seal as a top coat.
I like hydro line this matte take longer and dull my matte
Ouch. I have Jet Seal. But I also have Turtle wax seal n shine.
Jetseal= no protection = a waste of $40
Jet seal is an awesome product...works wonders....Walmart and Walgreens and napa need to carry this product!!!!! Send more to hawaii!!!
still using good old 845....
Collinite is awesome stuff
Hell yea! Me too!
Nobody has made this video of ethos Ceramic wax Pro versus McGuire’s liquid ceramic wax. You know the stuff in the green bottle. Can you please make that video it would be great and you would be the first one to have it.
Can you try Blazin Banana Spray Wax
Update: Watch this Chemical Guy video starting at 5:15 forward for use of JetSeal th-cam.com/video/Pil__WM5ef0/w-d-xo.html
Gyeon and dr. Beasleys
I thought jet seal was supposed to be used for like headlights and rims, and glass lmao i wouldnt use on car paint.
You didn't even apply it evenly or the right way
Hahaha
He is such a hack
So ......Hypothetically ! If my car gets hit by a MAC TRUCK and fuel starts pouring out and my car catches on fire .... CAN I SEE THE FLAMES BEAD OFF OF THE PAINT ? JUST ASKING FOR A FRIEND... LOL ..
Needs to sit on the paint longer than 20 mins
Ive put this on my tacoma tailgate and it does not even last a week
It’s amazing cg has made it this far. Too many idiots giving them their money
What's better then Jet Seal today?
Literally anything.
@@autodetailingpodcastCollinite?
They have always gone in hard with advertising and really trying to make Jet Seal sound like a miracle wax........it's not and never has been. I'd sooner use their butter wet wax.
