Very interesting podcast guys! I myself, feel very sad about the current trend of detailing on social media. Since we detail as a business our way of detailing and showing our methods don’t jive with the Status Quo of detailing, but what we do is real….social media and TH-cam push what’s fake or what sells, even though people want “real” it’s actually hard to find now. Great job guys, loved to watching it.

Great episode Jimbo, we didn’t know how much we needed to hear this. Hearing JB tell his experience of working with other detailers in the industry definitely leave me flustered that something could be handled so poorly. There’s so much happening behind closed doors we really have to be careful who we get in bed with when it comes to business. Just because some of us might see it as a hobby doesn’t mean we can’t be taken advantage of. More people need to follow the golden rule, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Thanks for sharing your story JB.

Im just a newby enthusiast in this world, but I like a lot of consumers are guilty of buying into the hype and are probably suckers for buying the products of these “influencers”. Very eye opening to hear the behind the scenes and the difference between what they want you to see and what they really are. The majority of social media is filtered fake bs but even knowing that, its easy for consumers to buy into whatever is being said by the guy who is literally trying to make your money, his money.

In E & J’s situation, they seem to have been offered a life changing deal. It’s unfortunate they have to play with Pan.
Just remember, the enthusiast market is big, it’s never about the guy with the crunched up fingers, and bad back.
I think there is a real grimey side to all of this. Some don’t want to see, while others, just can’t miss all the coincidentals. Those who can’t help but notice, are called “Haters”. Shitty editing and also I got really annoyed and angry that he was disrespecting you as I know your product was in the infancy stage.

Some people might say its a dog act to go behind your friends back . But dogs are loyal. So i have to change it to snakes. I unsubscribed to a few channels over the past few months and will not watch any of their content. I had one major content creator jump on one of my comments/queries when i asked a legitimate question about similarities in features to another brand's product. Stating they "will not tolerate" etc etc and talking to me like im a naughty child. Some of these guys think their shit doesnt stink.
Now i see other detailing channels that i like, linking up with some of these people to do podcasts. So i guess I'll be unsubbing to them too.
Ill just spend my spare time watching people i feel i can trust and those that seem loyal to those around them.

It's been going on for ages in every industry, but the clearest example in the age of online detailing was when DPC spent years hounding other creators and bashing products, building up a rabid fanbase of aggressively-skeptical detailers who wanted "the truth"...until one day, when he revealed that he was going to carry a whole line of towels, chemicals and more, cashing-in on a base of people who, through his manipulations and narrative-building, had become self-selecting marks for his game.
That was the clearest example of the playbook I had ever seen, but plenty of others have followed a similar path with varying degrees of success.
To truly be effective, the manipulator needs to, (on some level) believe the story they're weaving is true. (This almost always starts as little white lies, but by the end they're high on their own supply and don't even realize it anymore)

I will say I was turned off by those guys by the way they treated you Jimbo. I stopped watching them at that point. At the time I took it as jealousy but there was more to it. I felt that once both channels started reviewing and having the same people on each month it lost a lot of credibility.
Keep up the video podcast jimbo. I’ve enjoyed the last two.

Really great podcast guys. JB you are a wonderfully humble man and kudos to you for not turning what must have been a hurtful experience into a bitter one.
I’m in the UK and I maybe naive in saying this but we don’t really have the same “ detailing culture” that you describe here but what you describe sounds like what happens in many business fields. Having worked in HR (don’t hate me 😂) and leadership roles what I hear from this interview and what I see from THOR (full disclosure I do follow them on social media) is huge naivety on their part and a massive lack of communication (the source of most problems in relationships of any kind whether business or personal). If they were bound by a NDA then obviously that makes it difficult for them to communicate what they were doing but it sounds like whoever is bankrolling THOR (and clearly it was never Eddie and Jamie, there is no way would have that sort of up front cash, there would need to be investors) wanted professional detailers (probably why you weren’t asked JB) who would be “all in” and brought with them already popular detailing channels ready for marketing the products that were going to be distributed. It sounds like they got swept up in what for them was and is a very exciting venture and sadly you and Alex were collateral damage. I suspect E&J didn’t for one second think “gosh how with JB and Alex feel about this and how do we beat communicate this to them so they understand and don’t feel hurt by it” because it just never occurred to them - not because they are horrible people but because they just didn’t think. Again, this is very normal in many start ups, mergers, splits etc. I’m sure they are learning this as they go along but it’s a huge learning curve going from small a self-employed detailer to being part of a new and quickly established large company.
    Thanks for the content again!

Jimbo was a huge hypocrit. He doesnt want drama, yet there he was pulling it out of JB. He could have left it alone because, like he said, no one really cares, and he still chose to dig in.
If nobody cares, then don't bring it up and keep it moving.
There was way too much negativity being thrown around without hearing the other side.
Even though it wasn't Jimbos intention, this turned into a hit piece against Jamie and Eddie.

@BrillianceAutoSpa I'm curious, do you know what a "podcast" is?? It's a talk show format, a place to get the "rest of the story". We heard the "other side" on a video the other side posted. Sorry you missed it. It was the best BS you could've watched. JB DESERVED to tell his story! Don't for one second you are allowed to take that away. You're problem with Jimbo is very obvious btw.

He's not a hypocrite. In an interview you can't just ignore the issue. It's part of JBs story. Jimbo spent just the right amount of time. Most of the interview was about other things. Don't worry about Jamie and Eddie...there's no such thing as bad publicity.
