I was SHOCKED by how much I loved cyborg in this. There's not a crumb of him in the original version

What’s up with these guys? Some of the review was good, but some of their takes are just weird.
Joker wasn’t AS bad as Suicide Squad, but he was still pretty rough. I am firmly in the Batman should not kill camp, but hearing Batman tell Leto’s Joker, “and I will fucking kill you” definitely made me chuckle.
Honestly the worst part about that scene isn't even let's shitty acting its the fact that this batman is a mass murderer and has no reason to keep joker alive what is gonna do kill Darkseid with his gun cx of all the people he should kill its joker who actually deserves it though I also belive batman should never kill
@@dandyman2182 joker says in that scene that Batman needs him for something, not sure what that is but it seemed pretty obvious that’s why Batman hasn’t killed him yet, not from some sense of morality.

Fun fact: if you play all the slow mo scenes at normal speed, the movie is only 2 hours long.
I like the slow mo scenes when used appropriately but Snyder overuses it and it got annoying. Especially when Barry Saved Iris which goes on for 30 mins lol

That Joker scene was actually filmed on a studio lot, not Synders back yard. He was just joking.
Every slow motion shot takes a drink can't remember much after that first hour👍
As far as they know there were no reshoots for this cut. The only new footage filmed was of course the dream scene at the end
I believe they did one reshoot with Diana.
This. And the martian manhunter stuff including the martha reveal and Bruce Wayne inserts when he's talking to him at his house; you'll notice because he's a lot skinnier in certain shot. It was originally supposed to be two Green Lanterns but was replaced with MM so they had to reshoot some of Ben's dialogue
Honestly liked the two first hours more. Maybe that’s because I haven’t seen the 2017 Justice League, but the setup for all the characters made so much sense and everything was really balanced
I know Zack wants to do Injustice, but I think they would do a lot better adapting the animated movie Apokolips War, they set themselves up for it almost perfectly.
Also introduce John Constantine and bring in the macabre element that the DC magic universe has.

I heard that was the plan but due to everything that happened. The animated universe used elements from that draft and put it into the Apokolips War movie. Unfortunate, but its WB
This was much better than the theatrical release but would never be a theatrical release itself without some major editing
Agreed, but I wouldn't mind longer than normal cuts of movies available via streaming since you can add your own breaks at home.
If it was a theatrical release, it would have definitely been cut down to like 3 hours. Because it was hbo max release, he obviously decided to throw everything he had shot in to it for the fans lol.
I completely disagree, Joss took a hacksaw to the film but also added a bunch of crap. You could trim an hour off this movie by just snipping a bit in loads of places, make a few of the actions scenes take a few less beats, speed up some shots. A theatrical Synder cut is totally possible. I think considering Joss cut 2 hours out and added stuff in its crazy to say this couldn't have one hour taken out yet retain its core.

@@jewsco I guess I'm quibbling over the term 'major', I kind of see it like the Lord Of The Rings vs extended version.
I like the extended version but its often got bad pacing and tonal inconsistencies, I wouldn't call it major editing to cut what they did but it shaves off like an hour. I think the same is true here, some smart editing here and there and you'll easily get to the 3 hour mark without any major stuff left on the cutting room floor.
my favorite line from the Josstice cut was "you won't let me live, you won't let me die." That's how I feel most of the time.
Martha isn't Lois's dead mother in law. She's literally alive.
Zack has never seen the other Justice League. Everything we see here that was the same as the other film was zacks stuff.

This absolutely should be taught in flim classes. The music and editing choices alone greatly affected what otherwise are the same scenes in both versions.
This movie needed the extra time since we didn't know Cyborg's and Flash's back stories. They could have made an "episode" of a Justice League series going over the back stories and then had a cut of the movie where it is assumed you had watched that episode. The movie wouldn't have hit as hard without that information, but it didn't necessarily need to be in the movie and this could have helped with any pacing issues people have in the first hour and a half.

Snyder didn’t edit whedon things out, Snyder only kept the things he shot. Whedons 2017 was a combo of Snyder and then extensive reshoots 2021 JL is all Snyder no whedon in sight with the only additional photography being the final epilogue scene with joker and batman, and ofc Martian manhunter was imposed over two green lanterns

The black suit was kind of wasted, it was from the comics after he was killed by Doomsday. It helped him recover. They kind of wasted it when they easily could have used a few minutes of the four hours on that instead of Flash staring during a song foreverrr, lol.
That song was on the nose - "Song to The Siren" as Barry Allen pockets a hot dog? That's just silly.
WB did not allow Snyder to use the black suit when first making the movie (2017). Snyder wanted to but couldn't, so everything was filmed using the blue suit. Now that is a waste not even using the suit at all especially where it made sense.
Now when ZSJL was coming out they color corrected the blue suit to black but never filmed any scenes explained why because it wasn't allowed in 2017. Cavill wasn't available for reshoots for ZSJL.
Just how things worked out unfortunately 😕
@@amon__7187 that’s not true. Snyder showed them versions of the black suit that he filmed and color corrected anyway back in 2017. They had over a year to film anything they wanted. They could have even used voiceover of someone like Jor-El to explain it while Cavill walked out staring at all the suits. Snyder is just lazy and lame.

I don't think with the pandemic and how much money WB already put into making the ZS cut they would offer more to get those people. He did what he could with what he had. @@amon__7187 throwing shade? It was a 4hr waste of time. He uses slowmo more than Bay uses explosions. I literally fell asleep watching it. They promised no reused scenes and they still used them. No, I’m not in agreement. They were given over 70mil and had over a year, the excuses are endless. It was garbage. Not to mention the blatant rip-off of Avengers scenes that have been shown side-by-side all over the internet.
Honestly, I like how things are explained that were weird in the original release. If the world of Man, Themiscyra, and Atlantis got the boxes why didn't they warn each other once the boxes were lit up? But Diana talking to Arthur about not being in contact because of bad blood made more sense why Hippolyta sent the warming to Man and not their mystic art equivalent.
Man had Diana nearby someone she could trust. She was not on speaking terms with Atlantis and just took her chances with the box of Man being protected by Diana.
i was wondering as well why nobody even tried to help them. the age of heroes may be over but the atlantians and the amazonians are still there and have armies.

The temple going into the water during the Amazon battle helped. They lost a good 200 (including the buff door guards). I don't trust the CGI crowd population model as fact. There is no way there are that many Amazons after the Betrayal and Separation.
Themiscyra lost many people in one swoop. They would need to rest and grieve.
Russian distributor for HBO Max reported 400K Snyder Cut views in the first day. As far as I know HBO didn’t release its numbers yet but 400 thousand views seems a lot to me

They introduced Darkseid wrong tho. The first time we see him he got his ass whooped - it creates the problem that he isn't intimidating and u just go like, oh it's that bad evil villian guy that got his ass beating in his first scene whatever
In all fairness it was a young Darkseid. It took every bit of manpower on Earth to hold him back. But yeah, I get what you mean.

The real Justice League (ZSJL) is a beautiful movie on so many levels. The connection that Zack Snyder has to the characters of DC goes beyond being a fan/storyteller. These characters are heroes because of the tragedy that they overcome. Being an adoptive parent like Zack Snyder ties him spiritually to the plight of orphans and children who have lost parents. Like Superman, Batman, Flash, Cyborg, Aquaman, etc. In many ways, it makes Zack's loss of Autumn all the more tragic. I can't think of a more perfect director than Snyder to tell this story.

Here's the thing it wasn't so much as added rather brought back as this was supposedly what we were promised back then but alas it was WB poor management for both Whedon and Snyder that led to how choppy the theatrical release was if only WB took the time to a make a better story structure so that Zack didn't have have to create a 4 hr movie which was needed for new characters to develop and old ones to progress the movie would've probably made it 2 to less than 3 hr film so that we didn't a lot of exposition, backstory, and better character arcs.
Justice League is like the Lakers back in the day. Batman is the Derek Fisher, hitting the tough shots and keeping it together, while Kobe (Superman) tears shit up.
This was miles greater than the Josstice League. I dare say a masterpiece.

Yah she says her parents were killed in this movie, yet her father (Dolph Lundgren) is major character in Aquaman. They should have explained that in Aquaman. I believe she says that in 2017 version too.
Yeah I noticed a couple funny things that would get retconned as the movies went mostly with the Atlanteans. Like how a random guard could breath oxygen and how they kept making stupid air bubbles to talk to each other when they are an aquatic race that should just talk

I had an elderly lady tell me she was watching it with her grandkids this weekend. She said she didn't understand why another movie but said it looked better. I had already seen it and told her I loved it more than the 1st. I truly favored this movie vs the initial one.

Edit: I watched the snyder cut and really enjoyed it! I especially loved cyborg, he was the frodo of the crew and I loved the way they visualized his powers. I have no intention of seeing the original movie now if it's just going to be a worse version of this.

What Beau said about dropping 30 minutes by cutting some of the slo-mo... I thought the same thing when I was thinking about how to cut time out of ZSJL in order to make it a theatrical release.
I rewatched MoS and BvS for this. I still don’t like MoS, but the Ultimate Edition of BvS was much better than the theatrical cut. Still not my jam, but better.
I have to admit, ZS JL is probably the best DCEU film and was Snyder successfully doing what he was trying to do with MoS and BvS.
The Cyborg stuff was so great, especially him going from “fuck the world” to “I’m not broken, and I’m not alone” which is exactly the inspiring thing I love to see in a super hero movie.
I gotta say that this movie is basically what the Ultimate Edition was to BvS. Certain stuff that was cut out like the Steffenwolf and Cyborg scenes are put back in and make the story more cohesive but the overall narrative is still the same.
Take away the hype and the story isnt all that great and is very bloated. Having seen what Snyder originally wanted I think definitively cements the notion that the DCEU at that point was a mess and that all the characters, except for Cyborg, should've had solo movies. They all have to be introduced here which is why the first two hours are slow build up which should've been told in other movies. The only two characters that should've been introduced and focused on here were, as I stated earlier, Steffenwolf and Cyborg.
So overall the movie I think is definitely better than the theatrical version but is still bogged down by many many extra pieces of fluff and exposition. Compare that to Infinity who didnt have to worry about setting anything up except for Thanos' character. I give this movie a 7 out of 10

I'm so confused by how positively this is being reviewed, felt like I've watched a different film to everyone else.
It's 4 hours of Zack Snyder-slow motion, saturated blues, clumsy dialogue that sometimes is quotable, loud music, lots of style/less substance. Not bad per se, but not the second coming of Christ that the people clamoring for the "Zack Snyder Cut" have been acting like it would be for like 4 years. I have enjoyed Zack Snyder films, but he's not a Kubrick or Hitchcock. I also really enjoyed "The Rock" but I ain't going to get all excited about a "Michael Bay Cut" of some movie.

What's Alfred's salary... He must make...10 million/yr. The weakness of every version of Batman is that 1 person does so much. He's as much an expert in everything as Batman is. There needs to be a team Batman, experts in every field that help him. Its one of the things that takes me out of the story.
He's clearly just streamlining things that scientist in Wayne corp invented.
I think, for the first time, I disagree with Beau about the first half of this movie. This movie was good throughout. I enjoyed it and was into it like it was completely new. I would rank it up with an avengers level movie. I will watch it again. When I get time lol. Great vid as always guys.

I loved that scene where Bruce Wayne met Aquaman, the awesome and hilarious fact that none of them actually needed anyone to translate. 😎 It was a great power play and reveal of character.

I wasn't a fan of Batfleck for years because BvS was just so bland and then 2017 JL was incomprehensible. But my partner and I watched the Snyder cut and were discussing it after and I straight up said "This is my favourite live action Batman now."
And Jeremy Irons is just the perfect Alfred.

Regarding the part about Zack Snyder in the editing room, removing Whedon's comedy, he actually hasn't seen Whedon's cut. I have seen him respond with confusion to people talking about scenes from the 2017 version or even saying "WTF" when they mentioned Barry's whole "push people and run away" rant.
As for the Flash not just grabbing people and running them to safety, I think he's worried that moving them so fast could hurt them. Notice in the Iris scene how he gently guides her into a safe position to land, nudging her into place as if she were floating underwater, rather than grabbing her and placing her on the sidewalk or something. He's still learning the mechanics of his powers and he's clearly a science nerd, so he must be taking the real-world physics into account, not knowing whether or not the Speed Force would compensate for that.

Touched on everything else but as much as I liked the knightmare scene I thought it was a huge spoiler for future films and it will take away from the journey to that point in the story in future films. I get that maybe it was put in to the film to hype people for sequels but I could’ve done without it and waited for it to have proper timing. And the beginning was really difficult to get thru as well but overall I’m really glad this film got made
To get to 3 hours and some change here are my suggestions for changes and cuts. Maybe even 2 hours 45 min.
1. Do we need to see Bruce and the BEST WORKING HORSE in the world going over every peak and crevice of the mountains?
2. Take out the Icelandic girls signing and smelling his discarded shirt. That is just creepy and weird. The girls never show up again when Curry comes back on land.
3.Take out WW and the bomb sequence. The gun deflection is cool but the scene as a whole doesn't add to the story. We know Diana is a superhero from Wonder Woman movie and BvS movie. She has enough fan shine in the first fight with Steppenwolf
4. Condense Barry into perhaps going to the jail visit and getting sidetracked by saving Iris. And he loses his shoes, rips his clothes too much to be decent, and has to go back home and change.
5. Arthur saving the man and getting a drink at his expense could have been condensed. Have him save the dude and go on his merry way back to the water to be confronted by William DeFoe AGAIN about taking the mantel.
6. Cut some time off the slow motion. Like the gun falling out of Batman's hand on the bridge vs parademons and Steppenwolf, BUT keep stuff like the sword falling in slow-mo because it leads to Flash pushing it back to WW. Not the entirety of Victor's football game needs to be in slow-mo.
*Optional* IF there was going to be a second movie with Zack
7. Cut out the Knightmare flashforward. Use that footage as an extended trailer for the second movie. The first movie ends with Flash saving the day. The extended trailer would bring the terror that PERHAPS it is all still going to go to crap for casual viewers that weren't aware of the extent of how horrid Knightmare verse is.
8. Remove Jonn Jonn'z Martha and just keep Jonn in the post-credits. So you have a villain post-credit (Luthor Slade) and a hero post-credit (Superman Flash) and a late post-credit (Bruce and Jonn). In late post-credit, Bruce refuses to watch the "race" because he feels he knows who the winner is. Stays in the lake house and still gets interrupted by Jonn Jonn'z housecall. The longer you stay to watch credits the more you get. Like how blooper post-credits used to run
Wasn’t the epilogue like 20 minutes? So the movie, with some trim could be 3 hours. Like Beau said if you get rid of some of the slomo effect there’s 30 minutes right there.
The only thing i didnt like was the women singing when Aquaman goes back into ocean.
Really hope everyone shows big support for this film and demand for JL2 & JL3 to be made, because I really want to see where the story goes next. I know Snyder doesn’t have desire to come back but I have feeling that someday he is going to feel that need to finish what he started

Loved the joker in this cut...there’s one line that sounded like ledger even. Made me want to see a sequel. Overall it was much better, a few strange choices with the soundtracks especially Wonder Woman..and unfortunately the cgi still looked like crap but forgiven on the whole. Shame we won’t get the payoff to the nightmare scene.
My brain just cannot reconcile 2017 flash and nightmare flash....they are just so different looking it’s like it’s two different actors...it’s crazy for me

It is hard to criticise this movie with knowing who the film is dedicated to. I loved this movie and what it did, so many things to touch, build on and refer.
But:
why did it take so long for Darkseid with all his resources and godly powers, to find a basic planet which he already fought and lost in, that logic made no sense to me.
And flash is so inexperienced at the beginning of the film, he couldnt even run a civilian out of danger, then all of a sudden hes experienced in a couple of ours to break the time barrier, wtf? First 2 hours barry was just sitting their.
Why did wonder women choose to waste a gauntlet overkill clash on a regular thug at the end of the heist scene instead of grabbing his gun at the point when he ran out of bullets?
Why didnt silas activate the laser outside the box with that wireless remote?
It was ok. I think it's just such an improvement over the original that people were hyping it up more than they otherwise would have. Its still a slow, plodding, tonally confused mess with not enough build up, and some really really random stuff added in (Martian manhunter specifically felt so tacked on) and things like the knightmare scene were so so rough. I will say I expected it to feel more unfinished than it was but the only thing cgi-wise that really bothered me was the dream sequence with cyborg, that looked real bad.
Idk, 6/10, I can't see myself watching it again. Especially not with a 4 hour runtime.
I watched it and Snyder’s Cut is so much better than the original movie. Finally it’s not confusing anymore and they get into the back stories of the characters like Cyborg for example. Cyborg was also the must relatable character and I’m so glad they got into to his backstory because he is literally my favorite character in Teen Titans. Also I had no problem with the slo mo either. The only parts that I didn’t like was the women singing during the Aquaman scene and one woman smelled his shirt. That scene was not necessary. Also Snyder did not have to add music of a woman singing OOOOOOOHHHH OOHHHHH every time Wonder Woman did something.
I give it a 7/10 just because while it isnt a mess like the theatrical version, it spends WAY too much time introducing characters and setting things up which easily should've happened in solo movies prior to Justice League. This movie is exactly like the Ultimate Edition to BvS in that it adds in the holes left open but the overall narrative is still the same and feels pretty bloated having to fit in all this content.
Definitely better than the theatrical version but is too overly complex when compared to movies like The Dark Knight and Infinity War which are better pacing wise
@kshamwhizzle yeah exactly. Especially with some Snyder fanboys who dont understand writing and screenplay I point out how Christopher Nolan who wasnt a big batman fan could tell a complete batman story with each movie that didnt need a 3-4 hour long extension
Black suit historically was also to help superman get his powers back since he gets his power from the sun
Martha - Man Hunter
That Martian Man Hunter scene was meant to be with Green Lantern instead of Martha. But WB didn’t allow Zack Snyder to use the character
I loved it
I loved Flash. I wasn’t really interested in his own movie but now I want to see it. He was adorable. The end scene and effects were great. And Cyborg was awesome. I wish Henry would do another Superman movie.
I think Znyder is one of the best visual story tellers and I agree he should stick to long movies
