Can you please help me, My 8 months old kitten even doesn't want to be petted. I have rescued her from the street. She sits near me and sleeps near me but doesn't want to be touched. How can I turn her into a lap cat? Is it possible? Thanks in advance
This helped a lot! My cat is 2, and very energetic. She was a stray, so she has some trust issues. At first, she would only nap next to me, and then one day she hopped on my couch as usual and decided to lay on my lap. Thank you!
I got my cat when she was 11 months old. She was abused as a kitten so she had no trust in humans whatsoever. Because of this, when we first got her she hid from us for a good 2 weeks. 2 years later she is a happy loving cat and loves to sleep next to us and has full trust in most of us. Now that she is settled in with our family and familiar with everyone around her we think its a good time to make her a lap cat since we have always wanted a lap cat. Havent tried this video just yet but I’m hoping it works. If it doesn’t i’ll be fine with that since I understand her traumatic past. If it works i’ll edit the comment, much love!❤❤
What kind of treats are those? How do you give them treats on the bed when all of their treats are fishy/smelly? 🥲 I wish to but I don’t know how I can pet and treat without washing hands in between each rep!
I agree with your behavioral modification approach, but it can't be stressed enough that the cat might not be a lap cat. I have a 11 years Siamese--who does NOT like to be picked up and definitely is not want to sit on my lap--UNLESS we're at the vet. I recently got a 1.5 years male cat. I'm a mental health therapist and used a similar approach that you recommended. He's been here about three weeks and is sitting in my lap as I type this--if I put him down, he leaps back up. After the shock stage, he adapted to me relatively quickly. I love him SOOOOO much--and he knows it. But it comes down to the personality of the cat. (he's also a biter and loves slapping at me---that's not good, but we're working on it)
