Roto 85 FSI on TopRC P51-D Mustang

  • Giving my Roto 85 FSI a drink!
    This is not it's first time running but it definitely needed more fine-tuning on the carb. The plane has flown "successfully" 3 times already.

    Hi, with the cowl closed do you not have any overheating issues, want to put this engine into a 109" stuka. worried it might overheat.

      I have done 3 flights, full throttle all the time and no overheating issues. I have proper venting done as seen on the pictures at the beginning of the video and the air intake below bringing air to the engine (to the high pressure room of the cowl).
      The roto is very resistant, you can go up to 350 degree C without damaging it. You can limit a lot its heating by making sure the timings are properly setup (perfect ignition at the right time). It's not like Kolm engines which overheat a lot and are fragile.

      If you go for a 109", you should consider a bigger engine though. The 130 FSI might be the best choice and you'll have an awesome sound out of it
