The stock bed rail tie downs just aren't that good. Check out this mod installing aftermarket billet cargo/bed rail tie-down anchors that offer improved capabilities for strapping down whatever you want to haul & strap down - and look pretty darn sweet! within two months I got rid of the OEM tie downs.I got the billet tie downs. Best mod I did..

Easier to install if you attach the the plate loosely before installing then slide the unit onto the rail and tighten down

It'll scratch up easy but totally worth it. These oem plastic ones really are useless and they loosen easy. They don't ratchet tight enough.
