Coughing While Drinking - Cormac the Golden Retriever

Cormac, a young Golden Retriever, has Cricopharyngeal Achalasia, a swallowing disorder caused by the failure of the muscles at the top of the esophagus to relax. This makes it very difficult for affected dogs to swallow food and even water. Cricopharyngeal Achalasia is treated with surgery to release the affected muscles in the throat.
Coughing while drinking: Although Cormac is drinking water from a raised bench, once he has consumed a moderate amount, he cannot swallow the entire volume. Some water goes down his airway instead of his esophagus, causing a cough.
