Not to mention, Jack kept the love for his family really close. Jamie looks a lot like his sister, and I bet Jack Frost never left his hometown of Michigan. He was most likely a settler back then and had some nagging feeling he should stay. Jamie is probable his sister's great great grandchild, and he never left his families side even 300 years later.
It is a shame this movie didn't do well enough in the box office to become a trilogy. Dreamworks is great at making sequels and this movie has a lot of potential.
I watched this movie with my cousin one time and told them how the ending should have been Jack connecting with the villain about the two being outsiders and show him how his powers could be used for good, which ends with the villain either creating or being the new representation of the holiday "Halloween" and as a thank you Black names the Jack-o-Lantern after him. And that ended up ruining the whole movie for her because she liked my dumb fanfiction more than what actually happened. None of this matters but this is a core memory I still look back to.
I remember rewatching it in 2021 after going through some hard times, and I remember being so much more emotionally invested then I was the first time I watched it in 2012. Jack Frost was and still is a comfort character for me because I related to that sense of loneliness, being alone, and not knowing your purpose. Life felt less dark after seeing all of it. I cried. It was the best thing I’d ever seen. It’s still one of my favorite movies of all time.
Same, he’s just so much fun and knows how to talk to kids. And him searching for his identity/center is one of the deepest journeys I’ve seen on screen. ❄️
One of my favorite parts about the movie is how heart wrenching that moment when Jack first realizes he's alone as the kid walks through him. Breaks my heart every time and it's honestly impressive
I think this may easily be Dreamworks most underrated movie. This was not only my fav Dreamworks movie but my fav MOVIE of all time. It's SO misrepresented. It's only now not my favorite because of the entirety of the How to Train Your Dragon series, but it's got a spot for "favorite single movie" somewhere in there. I won't forget it.
i remember watching it for the first time and feeling bad for Pitch at the end, he's not really a sympathetic villain, he doesn't have good morals or a "the end justifies the mean" kind of plan, but you still feel bad for him bc he shares the same struggle that Jack does throughout the movie, you empathize with Jack so you empathize with Pitch, so to see him disappear once again at the end you can't help but feel bad for him. He is not a redeemed villain, you want to see him fail and you're glad at the end when he does fail, but the movie still made me sympathize with him and that's such a difficult feeling to pull out, understanding and feeling bad for someone while knowing they were wrong and that they are a villain and forever will be.
To this day I believe with all my damn heart that if the movie had been made later with Spiderverse level animation, this movie could've been a HIT-- animators have already talked online about effect they tried with Pitch that they couldn't get to look right, AND not using a style closer William Joyce's was such a missed opportunity. The fearlings look so COOL in the books
ultimate comfort movie for me, I was deep in rise of the brave tangled dragons and obsessed with jack- there's photos of me somewhere running around conventions with a handmade staff and cosplay with my dogs out lmao but seriously, this film to this day puts me in such a precious place and fills me with the wonder and hope it did as a kid going through stuff I didn't even know how to describe. what a special thing they made, I'm really glad it exists
OMG.. "They don't see me.... they don't see me." I'VE NEVER EVEN WATCHED THE MOVIE AND THAT HUUURTT AAAAAAAA also Jack's hug with Jamie at the end brought a tear to my eye HIS EXPRESSION- The casting is *chefs kiss* and after hearing all your points, now I need to watch it after all this time of procrastinating lol
I only like Jelsa as a platonic thing. Jack died at 14 and acts like he's 12 most of the time. I like that one au where Elsa becomes the 5th spirit and like. Suddently acquires Jack as a child bc he's a maniphestation of snow. It's pretty sweet
God i love this movie! The pretty animation and scenery, the epic music, the action, the likable characters, the cool villain. I like everything about this movie, it's one of the best Dreamworks films. I really hope we can see a sequel one day. There's so much possibilities; follow the books, explore more Pitch's past, how Santa meet the others, make new villains based on the Befana witch or the headless horseman who capture naughty kids and scare them. There's so many fun things to do with this franchise 😀
Did you know there’s an incredible fanfiction of this movie called *’Secret of Frost and Moon.’* In it, Jack doesn’t lose his memories and he becomes the Spirit of Winter before becoming a Guardian with his little sister becoming his first believer, who’s also the ancestor of Jamie and Sophie. It’s a wonderful story with great characterisation and uses material not only from the movie but also the original books.
I honestly had never seen Rise of The Guardians until like two days ago and it’s become one of my hyperfixations. I plan on watching it again after seeing this video lmao
I love the character designs in this movie. Santa’s design was probably my favorite he’s a burly but still mischievous character like how Saint Nick is portrayed sometimes, the tooth fairy’s design was also very good I liked how she looks human like but also otherworldly. She’s a very unique fairy design, all the characters were pushed to a unique design style which is so good. Most companies can’t do a heavily stylized or pushed design and dreamworld is even guilty of this themselves. I also love the villain design and his personality, he’s a good villain because his flaw of being afraid deep down is what eventually leads to his demise.
The fact that all this movie will be remembered for by a majority of the general public and pop culture is that Rise of the Brave Tangled Dragons fandom (which i was admittedly a lowkey follower of back in the day, though a closeted one) and the Jelsa ship (a ship that im convinced people only like because both characters have Ice powers, are friends with literal wind, and are extremely hot and thats it) which, again, pisses me off....especially we all know Jack would totally be into Merida (and vice versa) and (if it wasnt for Astrid existing) Elsa and Hiccup would totally be a thing. Lol. In all seriousness though, this movie is a beautiful and misunderstood masterpiece. The characters, especially Jack Frost, are likable and enduring, the worldbuilding is strong as all hell, the animation, score, and message are all beautiful, and its just overall a fantastic movie that deserves so much more love then its been getting. Thank you so much for making this review Carrie.

I've only watched the movie in the latam dub and JESUS I didn't expect Jack to sound so deep, in the latam dub he sounds like a teenager (tbh that's the case with most Dreamworks latam dubs, the main characters tend to talk in a higher pitch than the original, like in Megamind and Kung Fu Panda)
11 year old me was OBSESSED with this movie when it came out. It started my exploration of DeviantArt, looking up stories and fanart, and Rise of the Brave Tangled Dragons.
I had a bit of a memory of this movie some time ago, and I rewatched it, and it was better than I remembered. I especially love how they portrayed North, he's my favorite
I think it also didn’t help that they showed too much in the trailers. The biggest example being that they spoiled the twist of Sandy coming back to life because in the trailers we saw him uppercut Pitch, which can’t happen if Sandy was dead.
And as much as I love Jack Frost from the movie, knowing Nightlight from the books makes him even better in my eyes! Truly a forever blorbo. Love me an ancient immortal cosmic entity who brings joy and whimsy and comfort to everyone. 🙏 Disney's (scrapped) Starboy could never.

You know what I never understood in these types of movies, why does one year of the holiday not going as normal make every single kid around the world not believe? like... did they just forget the year before... why does one bad day where things don't go as it normally does make everyone go "Welp, I guess they don't exist". No criticism to the movie but it's so weird how so many movies, specifically Christmas movie have this whole situation going "oh no! we have to save Christmas or else all the kids will not believe in santa!" Like huh? Side note, how do no parents believe in Santa or any holiday figures. Like do they not question who the freak is placing the presents in their house that they KNOW they didn't get. or maybe the eggs appearing out of no where, or the teeth just disappearing leaving money behind. Like I get when we are kids we think these stuff are real as our parents tell us, but as we get older we start questioning stuff and our parents will stuff tell us that they aren't real. But in these movies they are real, yet it's only the adults that go, oh I guess they aren't real even though there are random presents appearing in my living room every Christmas that I didn't get for my kids. Sorry for the rant but it's a general question I have XD
I neeeeed the writers/animators (especially those laid off) to see videos like this. That their projects shaped people even if the numbers said they didn’t. Bc omg I miss this movie being new. I still adore watching it but omg as a kid this dvd was used and used and now it’s ruined bc of how much I’d want to see it. Thats all. I’d say I want a sequel but I don’t trust them to do it justice. I’d rather we all just write our own version of Jack getting used to being around people.
I rewatched this movie so many times when I was a kid, boy was I obsessed with Jack, he's the reason why I can fly in my dreams (the way they animate him soaring through the sky is just *chef kiss*) man now I want to rewatch the movie again not the rise of the brave tangled dragons literally one of the crossovers I was obsessed to too 😭
I remember this movie. Even as a wee lad, I knew this movie was special. It just has that magic that doesn't come with any other movie that year. It's fun, heartwarming, and just a nice watch all round. The only complaint I could ever muster as an adult, is the outdated and kinda ugly looking 3D faces on the kids. Aside from that, I literally have zero gripes with this. Definitely one of their more underrated catalogues. Shame that lame owl movie had to share a similar name to this masterpiece, probably lost a good amount of box office revenue to that.
guillermo del toro's involvment w/ rotg is definitely one of the reasons the visuals held up so well 👀 but yeah I agree that the marketing for this movie was very weak
as a kid i could not stop watching this movie. it was my absolute favorite back then, and it's still so good today that i accidentally ended up spending most of my entire 17th birthday party watching it with a bunch of the friends i've made, even though most of us had seen it. i think it was the best birthday party i ever had. .... didn't help we were watching it by streaming my blu ray to obs on my laptop then up onto the tv for some reason which allowed me to drag my unrelated windows over the movie to create some dumbass bits. i don't know why but one of them was just having a tiny png of ryan gosling occasionally slide up into the corner of the screen. but do i even need to remember why we did that? no, because it added to the experience :)
I watch this movie multiple time a year, especially in december, it's honestly one of my favourite animation movie, the characters have so much personnality, I remember watching it as a kid with sparkles in my eyes, and that I can still appreciate it as much as a adult is just magical.
i know this is an older video, but i absolutely love these kinds of videos, i just put them on as i draw and occasionally pause to watch, im glad i found ur channel:' )
This was one of my fav dreamworks movies as a kid, I watched it over and over, so it’s nice to see others talk about it and like it just as much too, it is such a underrated movie and deserves more love and attention
I love this movie so much, the soundtrack, the visuals, the finding yourself arc, it gets me every time. I make everyone rewatch it every easter bc it IS an easter movie lmao
You know, I've seen a lot of videos praising this film, but this is the first one that made me want to see it... like... right now! So yeah, thanks for motivating me to watch this film finally! Ill tell ya how I felt about it after I finish it
I first saw this movie in class when I was in second grade!! It was the perfect film for me to see at the time, as I was starting to 'grow out of' believing in Santa etc. obviously now I know they are fictional but that doesn't mean we can't still have fun with these stories and beautiful masterpiece of a movie!!
My first language is Spanish and I’ve never watched the movie in English. So let me tell you I was thrilled with the night-mare pun!!! Now it totally makes sense why the black creatures were actually mares, and not some typical monster haha
This has been my favorite dreamworks movie since it came out. I still love it to this day, and seeing someone else loving it instead of having no clue what it is or just not caring. Its so underrated.
My ONLY complaint with the movie is how Tooth’s design is very removed from her inspirations. Her realm/home is inspired by south Asian culture (a lil generalized but y’know), so her light skin and being completely nude is real weird to me. Like they could’ve put her in a sari or something y’know. Also Bunny being Australian is fun, but also dark when you think about how rabbits have devastated the continent’s ecosystems.
crazy. never knew santa had a russian accent in this, i watched this movie a lot of times but always as a child and back then i only knew my native language. i should rly give this another watch. i missed jack :)
After the movie came out, I went on the search for the books and lemme tell you. This is another How To Train Your Dragon situation. The books are amazing and the movie is amazing in a different way. I really love how I can love both stories differently yet just as much as each other. It really is a masterpiece, no matter what my brother-who-works-in-animation said (he hates the rendering, tho to be fair he used to be a big name in the industry so his standards are biased) The story is so good, it's great to see someone that obviously enjoyed it the same way I did all those years ago!!!
Rise of the guardians oh yeah, this movie was amazing this is one of the best movies in my opinion. I mean, the animations stunning in Jack Frost character development. It’s just amazing. 🤩
when i was younger i used to have a dvd of this film and i watch it like attleast more then 55 times it has a strong ground in my childhood and i will never forget it
This movie is so underrated and I’m glad that so many others in the comments section appreciate it! One of the things I love is the fact that each Guardian is from a different part of the world and you can tell by each of their respective areas/homes. It shows a bit of diversity without being all up in your face. One of the realizations I had when I was older was that Jack had to die before he became a guardian, meaning the others probably had to do the same. This movie has so many small details and the animation still holds up. I 100% agree that the did justice one the visuals and world building. One thing I never considered though is the fact that you said this is technically an Easter movie and I dont know how to feel about that one😂
I unironically watched this movie because i saw those jelsa edits and wondered why i never saw Jack anywhere before. Found it and become quite obsessed lol
Rise of the Guardians, Megamind and The Road to El Dorado are three of my favorite Dreamworks movies that sadly did not get the attention they deserved.
This is probably DreamWorks' most underrated movie to date AND it makes me nostalgic for those beautiful opening logos. Indeed they shall be missed.
Universal lets Illumination have different minion logos so why can’t Dreamworks 😭
Bro this was my ABSOLUTE favorite movie

I used to watch this movie on repeat, AND I MEAN REPEAT. It was on 24/7 in my bedroom and I'd recreate the scenes poorly with dolls, peak childhood.
that sounded fun 💕
It is a shame this movie didn't do well enough in the box office to become a trilogy. Dreamworks is great at making sequels and this movie has a lot of potential.
Omg a trilogy with the guardians would mean everything 👏💖
it’s never too late for them to make one now 🥺
judging from megamind 2 tho I might not want them to make a sequel of this

Not gonna lie, that's actually pretty genius.
Might've happened if a sequel was made
If there was a sequel, they should’ve done this

I rewatched this movie so many times when I was a kid, boy was I obsessed with Jack, he's the reason why I can fly in my dreams (the way they animate him soaring through the sky is just *chef kiss*)
man now I want to rewatch the movie again
not the rise of the brave tangled dragons literally one of the crossovers I was obsessed to too 😭
I remember this movie.
Jack Frost alone is a 10/10 in more ways than one 💕
5:33 OMG I JUST MADE AN OWL HOUSE REFERENCE SAYING "a bad but sad boy" AND THEN RIGHT AFTER SHE BRINGS UP THE OWL HOUSE XD
great minds
You are the most kind person i have ever seen and your voice is so calm and relaxing you are the best
as a kid i could not stop watching this movie. it was my absolute favorite back then, and it's still so good today that i accidentally ended up spending most of my entire 17th birthday party watching it with a bunch of the friends i've made, even though most of us had seen it.
i think it was the best birthday party i ever had.
.... didn't help we were watching it by streaming my blu ray to obs on my laptop then up onto the tv for some reason
which allowed me to drag my unrelated windows over the movie to create some dumbass bits. i don't know why but one of them was just having a tiny png of ryan gosling occasionally slide up into the corner of the screen. but do i even need to remember why we did that?
no, because it added to the experience :)
I watch this movie multiple time a year, especially in december, it's honestly one of my favourite animation movie, the characters have so much personnality, I remember watching it as a kid with sparkles
in my eyes, and that I can still appreciate it as much as a adult is just magical.
i know this is an older video, but i absolutely love these kinds of videos, i just put them on as i draw and occasionally pause to watch, im glad i found ur channel:' )
glad to have you 🥂
This was one of my fav dreamworks movies as a kid, I watched it over and over, so it’s nice to see others talk about it and like it just as much too, it is such a underrated movie and deserves more love and attention
I love this movie so much, the soundtrack, the visuals, the finding yourself arc, it gets me every time. I make everyone rewatch it every easter bc it IS an easter movie lmao
You deserve more subs
thank you 🥺
You know, I've seen a lot of videos praising this film, but this is the first one that made me want to see it... like... right now!
So yeah, thanks for motivating me to watch this film finally! Ill tell ya how I felt about it after I finish it
aww thank you 💕 and happy watching!!
@@CarrieTooTired watched it. Loved it!
21:43 That's like when EA put Titanfall 2 up against Battlefield and Call of Duty.
I first saw this movie in class when I was in second grade!! It was the perfect film for me to see at the time, as I was starting to 'grow out of' believing in Santa etc. obviously now I know they are fictional but that doesn't mean we can't still have fun with these stories and beautiful masterpiece of a movie!!
that music timing making me teary eyed dang it
8:15 fun fact, in the books he used to be a frigging Cossack! This Santa has a BODY COUNT!!
This is still my favorite movie till this day AND I HAVE A CD TO PROVE IT
OF THE MOvie
I love this film and I'm happy the fandom is still alive.
This is my all time favorite movie. Whenever I feel down I watch it, I’ve bought it on prime.
I just started watching you and I love your lil goofy self
My first language is Spanish and I’ve never watched the movie in English. So let me tell you I was thrilled with the night-mare pun!!! Now it totally makes sense why the black creatures were actually mares, and not some typical monster haha
yesss love the night-mare pun!! pitch got jokes
This has been my favorite dreamworks movie since it came out. I still love it to this day, and seeing someone else loving it instead of having no clue what it is or just not caring. Its so underrated.
I want them to make a sequel but I don’t want them to ruin it like they did with a certain sequel
The megamind clip took me OUT 💀💀
My ONLY complaint with the movie is how Tooth’s design is very removed from her inspirations. Her realm/home is inspired by south Asian culture (a lil generalized but y’know), so her light skin and being completely nude is real weird to me. Like they could’ve put her in a sari or something y’know.
Also Bunny being Australian is fun, but also dark when you think about how rabbits have devastated the continent’s ecosystems.
crazy. never knew santa had a russian accent in this, i watched this movie a lot of times but always as a child and back then i only knew my native language. i should rly give this another watch. i missed jack :)
i will always laugh in tears, seeing the yeti sitting there with his like 200 red eggs, getting told he should repaint them
YES! I’m not the only one who sees this as an Easter movie, and yes if I want a movie on Easter this movie is my pick.
I will never not get tired of rewatching this movie
when i was younger i used to have a dvd of this film and i watch it like attleast more then 55 times it has a strong ground in my childhood and i will never forget it
i watched this movie a billion times and will continue to watch it until im dead. this mde my childhood
I always have to remind my siblings this isn’t actually a Christmas movie. Definitely one of the best movies I’ve seen
the rise of the guardians needs and deserves more recognition
This is the most underrated movie of all time and I need everyone to see it
Great takes on this movie! I genuinely agree with you! Sad this movie didn’t get more attention and love cuz this movie screams FRANCHISE
feeling intense nostalgia w this one, i now desperately need to rewatch this movie
i remember loving sandman with my pure heart and the movie sm because the animation and the story is so catchy
Speaking of amazing cast, Hugh Laurie was there too. He is the VA of easter bunny, but the general public knows him as Gregory House
Finally somebody covers this it is like my favorite movie thank you
