    I honestly feel the tone he caught for the great southern trendkill was his purest. The most straightforward tightest dryest tone. Absolutely perfect.

    There's something magical about the Doubler on the MXR. It just captures the essence of Dime's live sound and it is fucking tight as hell!!!!

    • @EricMorettin
      @EricMorettin  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Dime split his signal to make the live sound way bigger, and the effect of having 2 guitarists. Watching all of the old bootlegs from the 90s just shows how great his tone was!

      @@EricMorettin I'm taking a look at the old 80's MXR M-175. It's a rack delay and modulation. Hoping to replicate the Flanger/Doubler unit without spending $1700 What are your thoughts on that unit?

      @@EricMorettin- I came here for this specifically.
      When you say he split his signal - do you mean into different amp rigs, or stereo after the amps to PA - or just doubled using the chorus / doubler…?
      Follow up: is that what the chorus doubler does, literally just doubles the signal?
      Thanks and sorry for the caveman questions. 👍🏼
      Killer rig and video!

    • @EricMorettin
      @EricMorettin  26 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@spencerarnold3810 he would use the flanger doubler as a splitter because it has stereo ins and outs! Darrell and Grady setup a wet/dry rig from what I recall. So some effects would go into one set of amplifiers and another set of amplifiers would be ran completely dry outside of the EQs.

    • @RX120D
      @RX120D ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@EricMorettin I like the hyper-specificity of pre-EQ like this. You're essentially getting similar functionality out of that EQ as you would get from the tonestack on a Mesa Mark series amp. People always find those so hard to dial in, but if you understand that the B/M/T knobs are just pre-EQ and the Graphic is where you sculpt the balance of the tone afterward, you're golden. Being able to apply distortion to a frequency range is so powerful. OD pedals are cool, but man, Pre-EQ is so affordable and much more powerful in my opinion. I love it.

      Yeah with the prices of the gear that I highlighted in the video, it's hard to justify spending it all when you can buy a plug-in that is certified by dimebag's former guitar tech. You can also get some pretty stellar tones from other high end modelers that come real close.

    I think it might be good to profile these things on some software so that each part including the entire chain can be digitally archived. Lots of music history that could just disappear once it all breaks.
    As you also have all his original gear you could also settle the debate of what sounds best. Bill Lawrence USA Ceramic pickups vs Bill N Becky Wylde L500XL vs Seymour Duncan Dimebucker. Add in an EMG81 and Dimarzio X2N and you have a massive collection of rail pickups that are super high output.

      @@EricMorettin apologize For my English. I meant, flanger has “input output” in the front, and input output in the back.
      I saw everybody use “in out” in the front.
      I would like know the difference if you use in out front or back

      @@ale211850 Just like anything else that's in the loop vs in front of the amp, you going to notice a more noticable difference in response and tone. Modulation and EQ sound really good in the loop

      He's used this rig live for clean and dirty. Studio would be a mix of a Roland JC120 or Mesa Mark 1. Randall Warheads were also used for cleans in the Reinventing The Steel era.

    DO NOT ORDER FLANGER/DOUBLER FROM DBEffects! They screwed up the wiring of THE AC POWER cord going into my pedal so it died as soon as I plugged it in, and never took ownership of the fact. It's a shame because the working ones sound awsome. But awful customer service, considering fucking up the colours for live and neutral is a massive deal. I was going to send it back and not make waves, but the last attitude laden email, , and the vibe I get that they're money grabbing crooks, who probably wouldn't refund me even if I sent it back, means it's war! Most arrogant people who won't own up to their mistake even when I have a multimeter on it with photos! So, there's a video coming soon, with screen shots of emails, to show you how bad it could be. You make up your own mind, but til then, just stop! Buy a Mimiq instead!

      To each their own. IMO, there's a reason why EMGs into a boosted 5150 with v30s has been the foundation of metal tone for so long.
