    I also got the 4.0 GTS when they decided to go EV for the next generation. It was more then I wanted to spend but when I fire up the motor it puts a smile on my face.

      I completely agree. I just got mine as well, at I also paid more that I wanted to, but having owned a 3.4L 981 GTS, believe this was the natural way of getting another Porsche... since I am not in the mood for the EV generation...!

    Having owned 911’s which are now big & bloated GT’s the 718 GTS 4.0 is the best sports car Porsche now makes for threading down B roads & daily driving - balance, rotation, practical, with a N/A 911 engine which you can’t get in a 911 unless you buy a GT track car with absurd markups. Some say the cockpit is dated…it’s perfect. Screens and haptic are cheaper to manufacture, harder use, with much of the tech you never need. Buttons are best. Snap one up while you can.

    • @Lukuss
      @Lukuss  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thats interesting hearing it from a 911 owner, I've heard people say 911s are too big now but it was people that didn't own them

      @@Lukuss the 911 is iconic and if you haven’t scratched that itch you will probably need to. I’ve had 5 over the years and they’re great. However the 4.0 GTS 718 is v.special. Its a better car than a 997 and a better sports car than a 992. Mine is a Boxster PDK for all year round daily (for manual thrills I drive a F430 coupe, but only summer). The 718 4.0 GTS is a magical car that is destined to be a great.

      911 is definitely on my list of cars to own one day for sure but can imagine the GTS 4.0 will be around for longer

      This, 100%. I have a 23 Macan GTS and wanted to add the sports car to my stable. I was cross shopping the 992 GTS and 718 Cayman GTS 4.0. I loved the 992. It’s beautiful, fast, and luxurious. But as soon as I stepped in the 718, it was game over. I knew the 718 was the answer. It has a truly visceral feel that the 992 couldn’t replicate and it sounded bonkers. Add in the handling since I want to track and autocross, it was a no-brainer. I have had it for two months and added over axle pipes and a Softronic ECU tune. I don’t know of many cars that can keep up with it and add so many smiles.

    I recently sold my gt3 991.2 after four years as wasn’t using it as much as I should and have been waiting for a Boxster 4.0 GTS WHICH SHOULD ARRIVE NEXT MONTH. I have a daily Macan GTS and a 992 GTS Targa. I took a Cayman 4.0 GTS for a test drive as a comparison for the BOxster and had more fun than in the GT3, stunning car, perfect set up for road, epic engine with great sound and torque and more of a 993 size so perfect for a B road. Great car and review, enjoy

      Interesting, I have a GTS 4.0 but feel the need to “upgrade” to a GT3 eventually. I even considered the 991.2. Anything in particular you didn’t like about the GT3?

    • @ghowells5433
      @ghowells5433 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 991.2 GT3 is stunning, and better in my opinion than the 992 unless you are doing a lot of track days. I had the car for 5 years, just felt like I wanted something different as unless you are doing track days, where the insurance is tricky, on the road you are really pushing it to enjoy the performance and 9k red line, which is a big part of the car.

    As an investment is a catastrophic venture, as cars are liabilities, as a Porsche enthusiast it’s a brilliant car, £80k invested properly can bring you remarkable returns over the long run. Back to the GTS and GT4 comparison, GTS is a better value proposition for normal driving and my personal preference. I’m not about to give up my base Cayman is fast enough living in 20 mph London.

    Great video 🤓!!! Last year in February 2023, I acquired my new 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 which has the 4L NA flat six cylinder engine (same unit as a GT4) and a PDK gearbox. Power output (394 bhp) and torque (317 lb-ft) are a nice match to this car's sensible curb weight (~3200 lbs). The color is Gentian Blue metallic with a black/chalk all-leather interior and silver wheel rims. It's definitely an entertaining driver's car!
    So far, I've only done 452 miles but hopefully a lot more this coming Summer! The PDK is also a lot of fun (it's definitely quick) 🤓
    All the best and thanks again from Colorado!

    Drive then back to back... They're quite different.
    If it's your daily driver, GTS is the way to go.
    If it's your weekend canyon/ track car, then GT4.

    • @Lukuss
      @Lukuss  ปีที่แล้ว

      @neilturner6749 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@LukussI’ve driven both and the only difference I could tell, even giving it some welly, was that the GT4 was uncomfortably hard riding! I understand from trackdays that the extra couple of hundred revs and different front axle set-up on the GT4 makes it about 1 to 2 % quicker in lap times.

    Good but not as great as every reviewer and Porsche fanboy try to make it. That long gearing is an absolute fun killer and no excuse from a company like Porsche. There are better options at that price point like a manual CTS V Blackwing making 670hp and that beautiful supercharger whine😅

    • @Lukuss
      @Lukuss  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's a brilliant car, it's not all about power and here in the UK we can't get the CTS so not a comparable car, also completely different 🤣

    • @Bavariaria
      @Bavariaria 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The long gearing isn’t that uncommon for high revving sports cars. No one complains about it in the 997 GT3, which also runs into the mid 80’s in 2nd gear. Would be great if the gears were a bit shorter, but not a big deal in a car that makes good torque like this.
