Your honestly so underrated I’m currently in year 11 and got 8’s and 9’s in my mocks I am aiming for all 9’s and have applied for work experience thank you so much for your videos they are extremely useful and I’ve been subscribed to your channel since your first video. I wish you the best of luck at Oxford 🎉
Hi! I have volunteered at a care home during Year 10 summer (I will be going to Year 12 this summer). Since that would be quite a while ago when I apply for medicine, will that affect my application at all? I have heard that its better to keep your experiences recent, but I was worried in year 10 about getting work experience at all and worried about exam stress for a-levels so I did it in year 10 when the stress was much less. Thank you!! AND I FOUND YOUR VIDEO THE MOST USEFUL GUIDANCE YET! :)
I honestly don't like maths, but I know I could get an A in it, however I think I'm more likely to get an A* in english literature. Do you think Oxford would prefer (for medicine) A*AA (bio, chem, maths) or A*A*A (english, bio, chem) And also if I take english, I'm more likely to be able to take on a fourth A-level
Such a great vid thanks I need a help I'm Yemeni medical student in my third year 21 years old I want to get a scholarship at Oxford University to study medicine and repeat my secondary school certificate by taking the A levels exams Can you help me plzz!!! 😣
Not sure on the exact numbers of mature students but don't let that put you off applying, if that's a concern! There are lots of university-wide societies and ways to meet people with similar backgrounds and interests
Thanks! Glad you found the video helpful :) Finding work experience opportunities is a long, sometimes difficult process but dedicate some time to just browse difference NHS hospital websites / company websites and you will be bound to find some work experience details. If there is no dedicated page for work experience then don’t be afraid to also send emails to any and every doctor/professional! They will either respond with exciting opportunities or just not reply if they don’t have any opportunities available. Also, be sure to ask your school, teachers and family if you have some connections to the field you want to work in! It does take time but it’s worth putting in some time to email and browse because you may find some amazing opportunities
👋 helloo . I dropped maths as a 4 subjects and i have 3 left physics chemistry and biology . Also we have english as a main subject so will it count as a 4 th subject.? And som e sites say maths is needed for medicine at oxford . Can u help me out please
Heya, your subject combination fits the requirements for Oxford (you can see on the website you only need chemistry and at least one other subject from biology, physics, maths and further maths - www.ox.ac.uk/admissions/undergraduate/courses/course-listing/medicine). So doing Chemistry, Physics and Biology should fit these requirements :) There is no requirement to do four subjects so it doesn't really matter if english will count as a fourth subject - instead, you can use personal statements/interviews to show that doing English helped with your essay writing skills/other relevant skills (but do include the english subject in your UCAS application if possible). Good luck with your application!
Hi, Im a year 11 student and I was thinking about doing medicine at Oxford. However, I have not done any work experience at all for medicine, not even online ones, so Im scared im behind on work experience. Is it too late to start work experience in year 12? I know its already going to be stressful with a levels so how much work experience should I aim for?
The oxford officials have previously said (in videos on this sort of thing) that they are one of the least important things to them as they know that they aren't accessible to all and don't teach that much. Maybe focus on supercurriculars instead!
Your videos are so good and practical!I appreciate your channel!
Glad you like them!

Are there any "mature" older students in your year please?

I just did local volunteering at my charity shop - maybe you could do it after exams during summer break?
