    What an absolutely idiotic review. Pretty much all of your dislikes are advantages in my eyes. The analogue instruments are far easier on the eye than the jazzy digital dash displays. The BMW iDrive infotainment system is generally reckoned by the industry as the best available. Admittedly the X1/X2 have the older iDrive 6 but it's still impressive in it's performance. You're right that the physical buttons for the heating are better than touch sensitive controls. On the fuel consumption some basic maths should reveal that with a 38 litre tank (less than 8.5 gallons) the best you're going to get from a half tank is around 150/160 miles. Most hybrids with very few exceptions are offering around 30-35 miles on a full charge. If you adjusted your seat to an appropriate height you could probably see more of the dash display too.

      That’s your opinion and I won’t dispute that Dave. Everyone is subjective in what they want in a car. The analogue dials might be easier for you, but for someone who’s grown up in the modern tech world, analogue doesn’t cut it. The iDrive is by no means bad, but in this one it isn’t as good as other competitors. I adjusted the seat as best I could too, still didn’t make it any better.

      @@OLT_TV I found that the combination of raising the seat height plus pulling the steering wheel closer did the trick. If the steering wheel is too close to the dash, the middle part blocks the digital display below the analog speedometer. But if you pull the wheel closer to you by just a tad, you can see the full dash.
      Cheers.

      @@Y3MINEM I’ll give that a go if I ever get the opportunity to drive one of these again! I personally thought the steering position was fine, but didn’t consider bringing it closer to me while still being at the same height… cheers for the suggestion!

  • @Y3MINEM

    I spent 30 seconds adjusting the steering wheel and seat position and i can see the full display through the steering wheel.
    The analog dials and the understated, executive look are what separates the BMW from the rest.
    The iDrive infotainment and voice activated commands are top notch.
    It’s got all the tech you need without looking like you’ve got an iPad glued to the dash.
    You should have gone with the Volvo XC40 or something. But then you don’t get the driving experience, the all wheel drive, or the badge.
    I’ve got the X1 25e and it’s exactly what i was looking for. Otherwise I could have gone with Audi, Volvo, Mercedes or DS7.
    They all look a bit more futuristic with the digital displays, but they weren’t the combination of sporty elegance that the BMW does so well.
    Cheers mate, hope it grows on you.

      I’ve always wanted to give the X1 and the new 1 series a go, but yet to find myself in one of them. I absolutely loved the 330e and hoped this was going to be something similar in a different body style. I think it’s all personal preference though on whether someone prefers all digital displays or the classic analog stuff. As someone pretty young and growing up around technology, I never experienced anything other than digital displays, so going back to analog makes me feel a little dated!

      @EVM as much as you might not think it, I enjoy and appreciate the comments

    • @Y3MINEM
      @Y3MINEM 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @EVM I’m with you on the tech being more than just the screen and dashboard. In the X1 hybrid, the transition between battery and combustion engine is completely unnoticeable. You have to look at the dash to see if the RPMs are on or not.
      The iDrive tech is best-in-class. Everything is so easy to find and use. You can use the rotary dial by the gear shift, the touch screen, or voice commands. It’s also super easy to rearrange the menu, and the preset keys can be used for anything from your favorite radio channel to your home address to dialing a number. If I press 1, it takes me home, 2 takes me to the office, 3 calls my wife, 4 plays my favorite spotify channel.
      The remote app is another feature rarely talked about. I can pre heat or pre cool my car, lock or unlock, sound the horn or flash the lights if I can’t find it in a parking lot.
      So many other examples.
      The great thing about it is that it does all this without LOOKING like it’s a spaceship.

    • @OLT_TV
      @OLT_TV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @EVM yeah I get the big touch screens etc are small things in the grand scheme of the car itself, but it’s just a personal preference of mine. And I guess you can put that down to being young and growing up with technology. I can appreciate the finer things you’re mentioning, and they certainly add to the car rather than take away

    I have a 2019 model (none E) and it does feature wireless charging incorporated in the split armrest. Mine also has a head up display. I’m pretty familiar with BMW displays. Just used to them. Each to his own. Mixed driving on my 2.00 d is 47mpg. Yer pays yer money etc.

    • @OLT_TV

      Wireless charging is a must have I think on these, so a good option ticked from you. Heads up display is also a really good feature, though, I'm not sure people miss out on not having it... Like you say though, you pay for what you get and you pay for quality these days!

    That gearstick was the reason i didnt buy this x2 and i took the 330e instead. That thing ruins the whole interior. I think it was left from older models somewhere and they used it for the x2.

      @@OLT_TV Bro. I don't know what you're doing wrong. I literally drive 212km on the motorway every day and use less than a quarter tank of fuel. ECO PRO + save battery. If it is that you're sinking the pedal to the floor and expecting great fuel consumption then no vehicle will work for you.
      a lot of things you mentioned in this video, if compared to a lot of other SUV's in this vehicles range will cost you more than $40k or will be inferior products. The cost of this vehicle in my region was over $55k.
      You don't own the vehicle but giving harsh reviews of its features. Every vehicle takes a bit of getting used to. i sold my range rover evoque 6 months to buy this vehicle and you made me feel as though I made a horrid decision. But now I feel as though I made the best decision ever. even two of my friends sold their vehicles to buy one of these and an x1 hybrid respectively.
      Like i said, buy a bike non x2 owner who gives reviews

      @@sincerelovechild you’ve just made it clear why you use little fuel. You drive on the motorway. I live in London, which is constantly traffic and stop start. Like you can see with any manufacturer, city driving is the worst for consumption. And this is actually worse than the Range Rover and Audi A5 I own for fuel consumption. I don’t have to own something, to give a harsh review on it either.
