It just breaks my heart to see such beautiful focal speakers get installed that way from the other shop because it's so bad that it's a crime. They could've used at least stinger fast rings and the correct sound deadener to eliminate midbass cancellations. Also, they should have done completely away with mutilating the door card with a saber saw and use MDF baffles haphazardly screwed onto the door card. It's much simpler and a lot better to just replace the factory speaker with abs plastic speaker rings specifically made to adapt a proprietary mounting pattern to a standard 6.5 inch mid/woofer.

I just dealt with a install last night that was a nightmare. Single woofer install in a bmw x5. I sold the amp and woofer two weeks ago to the customer and told him to hit me up for when he wants to setup an appointment to install it. Called me last night whinning and complaining about the woofer so I said come let me see it. I checked out the horrible install then did and I come to find out they charged him 375 dollars!! It was literally a half hour job the batteries already in the trunk so you can imagine how little work was involved. I can’t believe what these shops do and rob customers

Great video, I have a b7 rs4 saloon and I’ve run jl audio c2 comps 6.5 in front doors, running active from one of the super little kicker key 180.4 amps x over at 80hz. In the boot are 2 alpine swe815 subs (they are removed from standard enclosures and I built stealth boxes on each side of the boot) system sounds super to me but as a drummer I wonder what a pair of I subs under the front seats would do for my system?…..

A lot of install shops are horrible. I’ve only seen one shop do a decent job, at the time I was young and the install was clean. Couldn’t see the wires other from the amp into the rear seat. I thought, if I paid a shop to install I would get the same.
Nope would have done a better job if I did it myself, which I did fix the wiring and cleaned it up. I found they used a cheap LOC and the system never sounded good, I even took out the sub for 6 months, it gave me a headache from the distorted bass.
I ended up getting a Audio Control Pro LOC and what a difference! Clean and the bass blends in with the speakers. I don’t think I’ll trust another audio shop again.

This was probably installed by a shop similar mechanic who recognizes a customer that doesn't know anything about how to fix their own car, they smell blood in the water and will completely rip them off. Obviously this owner doesn't know enough about car audio to notice the install was so terrible. (not saying it's the owners fault, but the shop must have sensed this was a person they could get away with a terrible job)

  • @nautique1154

The amount of time this shop in France spent butchering this install they could have done it correct. They obviously do not have the correct equipment in routers and proper installation equipment. Like most installers they start off with good intentions but become overwhelmed of the time it takes them make things beautiful. Looks like a two man team that knocked it out in a time crunch in a day in a 1/2…It probably sounded good enough to get payment then problems piled up over the next month with the sub not working etc…The shop that did the install gave him the run around with pushed off dates to correct until the customer says forget it….Installation is everything in car audio. See references and sit in customers cars & not the installers car for a demo….God Bless & Best of luck on the next build…

I wonder how good that driver would fair playing lower midbass with 6.5” door speakers still being utilized for lower mids, like a makeshift 3-way system utilizing 2-way component 6.5” as the midrange…do you think it would have less rattle and better sound reproduction than just using the 6.5” as midbass/midrange in a standard 2-way component setup?

I have a jeep grand Cherokee and I run 6x9 midbass drivers in my door, but regardless of what I do, it stills rattles, this would allow me to get superior midbass minus the rattle. The ever popular "semi sealed" woofer box..lol...I'm amazed at the work that I see that supposed to be pro shops do....there are plenty of "hack" installers out there ...sometimes the customer helps facilitate a crap install..either cheaping out on price or amount of time they want install done in...I explain to customer that they are wanting me to cut corners or do hurry up job and say thank you but...I'm not going to do that car if you don't have time or money to do it correctly...and every once in while they come back and want me to look at power slam install another shop did and that's always the best part...they wind up spending more and taking more time to get car fixed.....priceless lol..

Often the customer’s fault. How many people know where their spare tire or repair kit is? Many treat the interaction with a “pro” the same way - just too insecure to admit what they don’t know and ignorantly nodding to anything. This is an open door for these scammers so, to me, those who refuse to become informed deserve this level of install. Many balk at labor prices and ask for a deal on install if they buy certain components. A race to the bottom!
