    Giving arrma the opportunity to fix it, before making the problem puplic, earns a lot of respect imo. Nowadays everyone wants to make headlines, even its for the bad of other people. Everyone forgets about that there are actually humans, who assemble these cars, or construct it. Everyone can make a mistake, giving the one the opportunity to fix it, is a sign of humanity, which is sadly shown too rarely

Yeah it's a tough truck but it's over priced as it is for a 10th scale mt then add in the fact the 70$ for the widemaxx kit that you need before it's even driveable. More of a reason traxxas is a money hungry company. They knew the maxx preformed horrible in stock for yet released it at a crazy price then screwed their loyal customers with the widemaxx kit for 70$ that should of already been on their truck. I'd much rather spend 600$ on something else but thats my opinion. It is a tough truck tho.

    Great stuff Vas 👊!!!! So sorry you've had a rough go with the Kraton 8s 👀. Regardless of what scale they call it, I'm happy with the overall size. To my surprise, the mod 1 drivetrain has been flawless. The pinions are readily available here anyways. I agree 100% the truck is very undergeared out of the box 🤣. I too eventually bent my top brace and rear chassis. It was easy to repair, and didn't have another issue after bolstering the top brace with simple carbon fiber 14 x 12mm tubing. I also had no heat issues running with a 23T plus tuning my diffs and venting the tires, punch 5, 7.5 timing advance. I'm fairly certain ARRMA will make changes following this initial 8s release. The platform has loads of potential and handles amazing. 🍻👍👍😎💪👊👊

      Rich Duperbash a 1600 dollar truck with underpowered electronics, and a weak chassis? it’s either too greedy for profits, or lack of serious r&d.

    • @richduperbash2966
      @richduperbash2966 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@rushgush the truck lists for 899$ USD 🤔. I think they did the best they could with the stock chassis. ARRMA is still a growing company. They don't have the means to put 7075 CNC chassis's on there RTR's as I understand. The only true weak spot I've found on this brand new release/design is the top brace which can be easily bolstered for 20$. Keep that in check and the chassis does much better. People will always be critical and complain. I'd rather improve upon a design and just bash 👊. ARRMA is fully aware of what to improve upon moving forward. That's because they listen and act upon user feedback. Not many RC companies are as open-minded. 🍻

    Good review, bro. I understand your reasons for waiting with this story, although I think you mentioned most of it last year already in the review/run (several time you mentioned that you thought there was some punch/power missing) and the studio tour (the story about bending and sending the car to UK) combined. So nothing unexpected and I think you already told the truth last year. But your opinion about the Scale was new to me. Didn't even know it was promoted as a 1/5th scale. I was more thinking the X-maxx/No-Scale/1/6th scale. And it was nice to hear your final conclusion about the car, though it was to be expected.
    Will be interesting to see how Arrma will adress these reviews coming in. Not writing this up yet. I remember the X-Maxx's reception in the beginning. Everybody complaining about it being underpowered with the 6S. And ESC's on fire. But all resolved now and many people have it as their favorite car now. Arrma could find similar solutions to this one. Chassis. Brace. Electronics. Weight. Tuning of diffs etc. Maybe in one year the version 2 or 3 will become the favorite car of many. Let's see :-)

  • @DoRC

    It's crazy that arrma would treat a reviewer that way. The proper course of action would have been for them to pay to have the truck shipped in an expedited manner while at the same time cross shipping you a new one. It honestly sounds like they just slow rolled you while telling you not to tell people about it so they could wait until the initial hype died down. Which I guess was smart on their end because they've already sold a bunch of them before anyone was aware of the bending issues.

    • @AussieRCPlayground
      @AussieRCPlayground  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a very cynical way of looking at it. Given how much they have supported me and how many cars I've received from them over the years, I had absolutely zero issues paying to send the car back to them. In fact, the plan was for them to reimburse me for the shipping costs (they offered), but since they had to pay to get the truck out of customs, I didn't even ask for the money after that.
      I don't think they "slow rolled me" at all. It was just all done in a rush, the trucks were already in the hands of distributors by the time this all happened and there simply was no other way of getting a new truck.
      Have to say, it's an interesting point of view you have, but a very negative one.

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AussieRCPlayground I suppose I could be wrong and it was just incompetence (not keeping spare review samples in stock in case a reviewer has an issue would be an indication of that) but after many years of dealing with different companies in a few different industries and seeing how they usually react when something happens that could affect their bottom line I doubt it. Maybe I am cynical but that comes from experience.
      Even now what has arrma done to address the problem? I see no recall or information from them on the issue and what they are doing to take care of it. They said they figured out the problem. Ok. What was it? Was it a one off (based on other reviews and forums I don't think so) and if not what did they do to correct it before retail shipment? I'm guessing they didn't tell you because they were already aware and even if they weren't (again the incompetence option) there was nothing they could do about it before release.
      Arrma chassis bending is nothing new. They just don't seem interested in actually doing what needs to be done to fix the issue.

    Thanks for taking the time to put yourself out there with an honest overview. I agree with the general sentiment but even after spending the additional money to upgrade it I still really like it, mostly because the handling is so enjoyable for the terrain I live in. Even though I love it I'd only recommend for a dedicated mod path oriented hobbyist, not someone who wants a turn key rtr.

    Between the 1/5 EXB and the RTR is there any difference in chassis components or are they equally alike ?

    Your honesty is appreciated. I considered buying a Kraton 8s but when I compared it to the Losi DBXL-E 2.0 the choice was easy. The Losi came with a true 1/5 scale motor (8mm shaft) I'm sure the next Kraton 8s will be on point...

    I admire your honesty as i know you really do rate Arrma normally. It is so true what you said as so many other people have had the same issues. I think Arrma really need to think this one over.

    I dont have that car but I was already on your side with the k8s. I had just bought K6s v4 roller and customized/upgraded it to what I wanted. Your review actually helped me know what needed upgrading. In total spent about $900 us. It's a beast, btw. Then I heard they were coming out with an 8s for about that price and thought, "dang! I could have gotten the 8s instead if I had just waited!" Then I saw your running video of the 8s and immediately knew I had spent my money on the right thing. Underwhelming is perfect word. And to find out it's not even very durable! Love arrma cars, but they have some work to do on the 8s. Thanks for your honesty and great rc videos.

    I can't seem to find it in your video's!?

    Hi there. New to scene, and huge arrma fan. Mainly because they are the most affordable vehicles for my budget... You are definitely the person I watch the most unboxing and running videos... And I think you are spot on with everything you have said. Thanks for a great review, and because of your videos I have purchased vehicles from Banggood and all over
