    Sx4 is a absolute sleeper of a sub $1000 auto loader.
    Got a 12 gauge waterfowl model a while ago, and it is perfect. After watching, reading, and hunting around, the SX4 was the winner for me. I’m so glad I didn’t get the Beretta a300 I was looking at. It was thanks to TH-cam and reading reviews about berettas QC and CS that helped that choice.
    Ultimately it was coming down to a Stoeger m3500 or a SX4 if I could actually find one. I found one at my local shop and I believe I paid $899 for the waterfowl Sx4.
    Shoots straight and will put 12 00 buck pellets in a hand sized pattern with its factory modified choke at 30 yards with one my favorite loads with a TPS cushion wad. ALL 12 I CAN COVER WITH MY HAND!!
    There’s really not any real negative reviews on the SX4, and they also seem to hold up well and last. Hear about folks banging them around the boat and blinds, not cleaning them for days after being soaked, and they’re still running strong years later.
    I suppose there are some people out there who are absolute die hard Remington, Mossberg, Stoeger, Beretta fans who will look for any reason at all to complain about a gun. But honestly unless you get a absolute lemon, there’s not much one can complain about the SX4, and I love my Remingtons, and Mossbergs.
    The SX4 just can’t be beat for its value.
    I’d definitely buy another if I ever needed, and that 20 gauge model is lookin quite appealing!

    I've used a SX4 20gauge here in Montana for 3 years now...no problems at all. I use it for hunting 6-days a week (retired and living the dream) and shooting sporting clays once a week. I like that the stock can easily be lengthened with the spacers included with the purchase. I'm 6' 4" so I purchased additional spacers from Midwest Gun Supply and lengthened the stock with 4 spacers and longer screws.

      I can’t wait until I can live the dream. Good on you! The sx4 has to be one of the most underrated and highest bang for your buck shotguns on the market today. Even though they don’t come with shims for additional fit options, mine fits me like a glove.

    Love my stoeger 14 years with it and only "issue" was a wad got stuck in my barrel and went kaboom. Ordered a new barrel and decided to get myself a super black eagle 3. Love it as well just rubbed some cerakote off it carrying it beside my knife handle walking in. Was pretty sad the cerakote scratched off so easily but that's my only complaint. Looking at a 20 gauge for the heck of it and cant really decide between a stoeger m3020 or sx4. All it'll run is boss shells and whatever I find for squirrels.

    I did that too..Had the SX4 20 28" in black, put a compact stock on and got a 24" barrel for it ( was going to turkey hunt with it too).. Gun was great, shot awesome. Then I thought I needed a Franchi Affinity 20.....Should have kept the SX4... I really don't care for the Affinity.. and I thought I'd like it; I've had a Stoeger M3020 since it was released.

    • @avidwaterfowler7522
      @avidwaterfowler7522  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not a dumb question at all. I purchased it off gunbroker for a killer deal at a gun shop in GA. They would not work with me on the return hence why I worked with Beretta. Keep in mind, the beretta shotgun in question is over $2000 new. How does a completely irreparable gun leave the factory? Also, since beretta mostly sells higher end equipment, they should have the best customer service! My guess is their quality is much lower than it has been in the past and their repair/warranty service may be overwhelmed.

  • @williamcarter746
    @williamcarter746 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I bought an SX4. After patterning it with several loads it is continually high left. I called Winchester and they said it is designed to shoot 3 inches high with a 3 inch buffer. So it could shoot 6 inches high and 3 inches left and still be within factory tolerances. Ludicrous I say. I’ll not be buying another. And, btw, there is no shim kit for the SX4.

    • @avidwaterfowler7522
      @avidwaterfowler7522  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know there is not a shim kit just for this gun, but I was told other models from browning/Winchester may work. You’d have to look yourself.
      6” high would be a nice 60/40 pattern which is ideal for most wing shooting. 3” left, most couldn’t even tell that. If you want to really experience high and left, go buy a benello SBE3…. I had one of those overpriced boat oars a few years back and it shoot a 100/0 pattern that was about 15” left. What a piece of junk. For fun, go and google the sbe3 debacle. Article after article about it being an absolute flop. I’d have killed to have my sbe3 shoot as off as your sx4.

    • @williamcarter746
      @williamcarter746 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@avidwaterfowler7522 it wasn’t a nice 60/40 pattern. It is almost nothing below the point of aim in my case. I’m very frustrated with this as are many others. I’ve looked for shims and the best anyone has come up with is heavily modifying an SX3 shim. Totally unacceptable. I’ve patterned from 13 to forty yards. I did the patterning because of missing too many ducks and the ones I did hit were all wounded. I have no confidence in this gun. If I want to shoot 6 inches high and 3 inches left, that is where I will aim. I don’t need the manufacturer’s help. Way too sloppy tolerances for me. I could accept a 3 inch variation from center, but not if it is already designed to shoot high in the first place.

    • @avidwaterfowler7522
      @avidwaterfowler7522  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@williamcarter746 I don’t follow, you described a 60/40 pattern with a 3” variance. Guess what? Benelli has an even larger window for margin or errror. It could also be your hold/fit. I do agree a shim kit would be really nice and I think it holds them back slightly. I was told by a rep that most people that buy a gun don’t use the shins or understand them and that’s why they don’t come with the more affordable guns.

    • @williamcarter746
      @williamcarter746 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@avidwaterfowler7522 At 13 yards there are NO pellets bellow center. Center mass is 6 inches up and 4-5 inches left. At 30 or 40 yards there are "some" pellets below center, but the majority are high left. Tried about 4 different loads all with the same results. If a duck is coming from the left, over the decoys, I would be shooting high and behind. I could show my results if I had a way to post them, but I don't think I can on here.

    Stoeger, franchi, and benelli aren't berretta products. They're benelli products. They're inertia guns. No shims is a deal breaker for alot of people with the winchester. I don't particularly like gas operated shotguns for waterfowling. The only shotgun that has ever blown up on me was a gas gun. I've had exceptional luck with the inertia guns in 12 and 20 gauge. It's actually a bummer to hear that berretta sucks. I'm glad you ended up with a gun that you enjoy tho. Thanks for the videos.

      @avidwaterfowler7522  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Beretta owns Benelli….. I’m actually a gas gun guy in general. The gun probably blew up from something other than it being a gas gun. For example, a bore obstruction doesn’t care if the gun is gas or inertia.
      Beretta family of products is dead to me.

    • @TherealMcCoy017
      @TherealMcCoy017 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @avidwaterfowler7522 sure, the parent company is beretta but they're not built in the same factories. I don't blame the gun blowing up purely on it being a gas gun. It just so happened to be a gas gun. Also it wasn't a bore obstruction. It was a out of spec receiver that tried to send the bolt into my face with a lead target load. Buried the bolt into the back of the aluminum receiver sideways. I just don't like having to clean a gun as much as I find myself cleaning gas guns during waterfowl season. I clean my inertia gun once before season and just add a touch of wd40 or pb blaster when it slows down. We hunt the salt marsh adjacent to the Great salt lake in utah so basically any shotgun is gonna get destroyed. It's an ease of maintenance thing for me.

      The fact is beretta owns benelli and I suspect they are run just as poorly. I had an sbe3 a few years back and it was worthless as I couldn’t hit anything with it due to the common issue they have with shooting high and left. If it’s a beretta family of products, I’m not buying until they change. The worst customer service hands down.
