- Giving an honest review of the sx4 20g, has some issues with target loads and will pinch your fingers. I like the gun overall but definitely would consider other option in the 20g family. #shotgun #winchester #sx4
I just picked up a sx4 20 ga a few days ago. Cleaned the factory grease off of it and took it to the range yesterday and ran 3 boxes of dove loads and one box of 3 in steel through it. Shot the steel flawlessly but jammed quite a bit on the light target loads. Gonna shoot 4 more boxes of target loads through it and hopefully break it in better tomorow. As of now, I absolutely love the shotgun. It’s comfortable to shoot and swings great. I kind of expected it to have trouble with the light loads simply because it’s a brand new gun. Not too worried about the jamming as of now.
I’m sure it will work well for hunting.
@@RandoWayneI’m 200 rounds of target loads into this gun and I love it but it’s still jamming on the target loads.
Have you tried other brands that what you are currently using

Your finger shouldn't get pinched if you keep your thumb straight rather than bending it

The affinity3 20 ga. does the same thing when loading it.
Darn, I just like extra room when loading
Read the manual it's not designed to function with target loads
I understand how this may sound like this gun was designed for higher speed or maybe higher payload rounds but this gun was designed to do everything from shoot clay to hunting. Without an interchangeable buffer or adjustment of any gases this would lead anyone to feel that the operation of this firearm would work with any round. I have shot a few hundred target loads through it and certain brands would produce the jams. That being said I did sell this gun even though I had success with it. I bought an sxp 20g and love it more even though it’s a pump.
@RandoWayne yup 7/8 oz as long as it's not light loads 7/8 oz of 3' inche
I went through the same thing and im going to have to get a different gun for skeet shooting it's a waterfowl shotgun
Would you recommend this as a first time semi auto shotgun? I've been using a winchester 1300 for waterfowl
Yeah I would, I have the 12 gauge sx4 and will not part with it. The 20g did great in the blind this last season and the only issues I had with it jamming up if you would call it that are with target loads. And it happened not too frequently but enough to notice. I used Kent, boss, and black cloud in it without issues. Best of luck!
