Tell Relevant_MarketingandEvents to STOP with the music when you're talking! Thanks.
Better quality filming should turn into bigff fr fr views and sponsorship bro . 💪🏾
Please don't turn into another one of those channels just pushes content filled with ads and sponsorships just to make money. I do like the video format better this way but drop the background music when you are talking, it's a bit too much.
lawyers, are you effing kidding. can you please raise the bar. effing lawyers
exactly. and lawyers?? lol just plain gross @@powertothesheeple5422
Used car salesman games didn't work on the big stage 😂
Yeah man some of the things were slimy
He’s still a stealership at the end of the day. A fresh haircut doesn’t change the scent.
Mercedes was "alright"? Bro the fucking clear coat was coming off and the top wouldn't go down
They are all used cars none are fresh off the lot 😂
@@aarons3695 People fall in love with that gorgeous interior and put on the blinders to everything else wrong with them.
.
Enjoyed your video as usual. Entertaining and instructional. I'm always amazed at the input of haters. They sit in their mom's basement and never take a chance themselves but never miss an opportunity to belittle or criticize someone with a pair of balls. Apparently makes them feel good about themselves and their sad lives. Thanks Craig, looking forward to your next video.
Fees ALWAYS bother me at the auction. I guess most people don’t know the buyers get charged ridiculous fees aswell!!! 😮😢😂
Those auction houses are ripping off buyers and sellers. Mecum and Barrett Jackson
Stop going to Mecum Auctions other than a visitor......Stick with what you know....Not rental houses....Not boats......Stick with what you know and stick with your buyers.....Regular people....They stick with you....
Yeah this was extremely sad to see. Although I can see Craig as a real estate developer
@@startingtech3900nahhhh he can’t develop this channel so the bricks will just be the same.
Most of his videos from the beginning are of him making horrible car business mistakes. He doesn’t learn from them, he just learns new ways to make mistakes. 😂
Obviously he’s making money. In his type of business, you can’t be right 100 percent of the time.
@@JetFire9 you can’t fix stupid
For a small dealer trying to make money by selling cars at Mecum or Barrett is almost impossible. First you are competing against above average vehicles so if yours are OK then you are in trouble - second there are too many fees and transport costs. Your best bet is to sell from your home turf on Cars and Bids or BAT. Cars and Bids has no seller fee. You have a big audience and the car is sold in 7 days.
The top of the Mopar is called a Mod Top and yes that’s original. Sorry your gamble did not pay off…but now you know. Also if you are honest with yourself you picked up some questionable cars and tried to sell them for a profit at Mecum…you did not sort them out mechanically or cosmetically. Source cars from Florida, Texas, California, Arizona and sell them at home…unless you acquire a nice speciality car on the cheap you are unlikely to ship cars and pay auction fees and still make a profit.
Mecum, Barret, these auctions are dinosours. Nobody of younger people would come to these auctions...
he tried an idea for youtube and it went bust because you never know who is going to show up at mecum. some times you win, some times you lose. there was another yter who went to barrett - same thing. both depend on marketing & many don't have the money or don't find it fun - or the wive divorced them getting tied up in the hype and coming home with a car.
I'm not a dealer and knew this was going to be a big money loser. Reminds me of a relative of mine who buys borderline quality stuff and thinks it's all going to bring in big bucks. Be more realistic and save yourself some pain. (unless the goal was to make the money back on TH-cam advertising)
It takes months to list something on cars and bids, not feasible for dealers or in quickly changing car market.
When you pay 1300 for shipping and 10% seller fee there's no meat left on the bone
Don't forget the $3000 listing fee.
Yup, Not on $8k cars, the buyer isn’t willing to pay auction fees and shipping…. In January….
Look at how bad the economy is. That Fox Body he sold should have brought 10 grand easy. It's a V8 convertible. He gave that car away
It is hard to turn out volume like that though.@user-wi4zz9bp2z
@@gregorylyon1004 - the buyer did end up paying $10k out of pocket. That’s the whole point. The buyer is responsible for his auction fees, shipping and tax plus any repairs/ upgrades Craig didn’t do. All of these cars are FB Market Place spring time cars. No one wants to sit on these things 4-5 months before they can enjoy them. Statistically speaking to add on $2k for fees and shipping is a substantial amount on an $8k car whereas not so much of a percentage on a $100k show car.
Auction Houses are like casinos the only winner is the house.
The difference is that many casinos will give you free booze and a cheap buffet.
He knows what he doing, not his first time at auction. But he sure knows how to market his TH-cam channel.
"Mod Top" on the Mopar. Factory Option. GTO is not missing the hood tach. Was a stand alone option. Had to be specifically ordered.
Michael Lamm {Special Interest Autos and many other publications} said many years ago that the only winners at old car auctions were the auction houses. The buyers and sellers always lost. For over 50 years in this hobby, I have seen this repeatedly proven to be true. One time only, I was tempted, and I have been forever grateful that I sat on my hands.
Couldln't agree more. Don't forget the transpport companies they make money.
@@stwhite5135- yup! either way they’re going back to the seller or to a new buyer.
Called a “ Mod Top” a rare option!
If I remember right, that Super Bee was the only A12 optioned Super Bee with the mod top.
As long as you learned from your mistakes...You win. Great videos
i love your honesty and love your videos. i love cars and this is very entertaining. There are not a lot of people brave enough to show their mistakes. I wish you luck and i think you will do better next time.
Those auctions are for high end vehicles rare trim packaged models etc. I saw that from a mile away and I'm a couch bum. It's a lesson learn from it and apply that knowledge to future decisions
Even the high end cars are selling at a loss. Those 2 Corvettes should have sold a lot higher.
The lesson you should learn is not to try to sell junk. That Mercedes you wanted big money for had a ruined clearcoat and a convertible top that didn’t work. Don’t sell junk and want big money
Dude!!! stop being so hard on yourself, if you dont try, you dont learn. Must people or afraid of risk, but put those down that take risk. it's easy for a guy to create a play after it's been played. those that do are jealous of your ability to attack a risk, like a true man .😇
Thanks for the honesty and humility. That's why I keep watching
The JUDGE has the hood mounted tachometer. The 1st one shown did not. 👍
👏
You just blew the value on that mustang and trans am. Now there's proof that the cars have never seen rain is a lie!!! LOL
Rich and Dead People use Auctions to sell Cars they don't want. They are willing to take a loss to sell the Car. The only Cars that do well at Auction are the Rarest Cars. Auctions are good places to buy these Cars from the Rich and Dead. I'm 68 and have been in the Surplus Auction Business for 50 years. It's easy to buy and harder to sell.
You're a friend i would love to have. The knowledge you have...whew. I would love to just shadow you and listen for weeks, soak in as much as humanly possible.
Because the cars your brought are junk...
Not junk cars. Just high mileage cars. And in uncertain economy no millionaire will bid a Corvette with 76 thousand miles and 10 years old. LOL
Craig, in all fairness. The Floral top A12 is the only known to exist. Restored by a very well known Mopar/A12 enthusiast and collector. The cars story is unlike any other car as it was removed from a salvage yard in the 90’s, passed through a few owners until Darrin purchased it along with the new NOS top back in ‘16 and it debuted after completion in Spring 18 in Minnesota.
Until that car, I had never seen an A12 go beyond 150k.
You sound a lot like I did back in the 90's, you need to concentrate on the cars that make money, not the hot cars that you like! Straight to the point man, your lucky you have that kind of scratch to throw around! Your gonna be bankrupt soon if you don't change your business model.
Obviously mecum isn't his business model. Used high mileage cars is. 😂 it was an experiment, that didn't, on the "surface" work out. I'd be willing to bet, the whole series, paid off pretty damn big. Business model working just fine
Everything u do wrong ? Sell jeeps with bent frames and don’t give back there trade in…….. 👀
Congratulations on the Mecum Auction follow-up video. Not too many You Tubers go through their warts and all like Craig from Flying Wheels.
I watched the previous Mecum Auction Day video and l wonder if your cars lacked a 'quirky enough provenance' as l loved all of your vehicles you chose.
Would the regular Manheim Car Auction or Doug DeMero's Cars & Bids be better suited for you?
Warmest Regards - David from Melbourne, Australia
🥸👌🍷🍷❤️❤️🦘
PS: l ❤ the more professional videography AND you've reduced the waffling a tad too... keep it up.
🥸👌❤️
This guy needs to focus and stay on point.
And not keep repeating himself. Or repeating his own self.
@@FrankySilverFace totally agreed with you.
Yes, I agree. Poor presentation. He needs a producer. But, nice effort!
Hey at least you didn't buy a Kawasaki Z2 without a VIN. But someone did.....for $85,000. Fortunately for the buyer they got out of it. But it can ALWAYS be worse 😂
No VIN ?? It's probably stolen. LOL
Gday Craig,
“You make your money when you buy, not when you sell.” You know this already. I think you were forgetting this valuable rule. Your margins were already narrow and I think you had started taking too much “Hopium”.
I buy/sell earthmoving equipement here in Oz. You know that feeling when you pay considerably less than a vehicle is worth and you know you are going to make good money when you sell it? I know you do, it’s why we do this. If you are not feeling that feeling when a deal is drawing to a close…. walk away. There are always more deals.
“If it was easy, everyone would be doing it” you live and learn my friend.
Cheers 🍻
You're a guy definitely worth learning from. Heavy Equipment is tough man. Well worth it but it's tons harder than "cars". At least from the couple guys i knew that did it for a living also. To them selling cars was childs play compared to the million plus every day pieces of equipment they had to deal with.
The problem was he did not consider his target buyer. They’re not willing to pay auction fees and shipping on $8k cars
Unless you are just doing it for content. It seems like a waste to do these big auctions. The cost and fees eat up all the profit unless you have a unicorn you got in at a good price.
Maybe that's exactly the point. All the experience, business write offs, some loss, good times with his dad and brother, and still makes money from the views. Maybe he's just not as stupid as people think. Remember the money his boat series made?
You are a used car dealer, how could you not know any of this. Your only job is to buy cars cheap and shine em up and sell them for more.
Why not just drive the Skyline home and save on shipping costs.
Awesome. Nice camera like being there.
As an experiment it was interesting. Got some good time with bro and Dad and wrote it off.
Fun video and a great experience with your dad and brother so it was a win win. I'm sure they enjoyed watching you sweat and run like Steven Seagal.... ha. still too many dopey GIFs. Big fan.
He didn't account for the time that he lost at home where he could be selling junk cars to the locals In spending time with his wife and kids . He should be buying cars for a thousand dollars And be selling them for double If you did that three times a day, seven days a week, it would be a Millionaire
Maybe his family came along.
Craig, It would be fun to watch your dad pick out 5 cars and see how he does next year. Its a bummer ya didn't get a big payday with any of your cars ya brought this year but it was still a fun watch, Mecum was sleeping on that Skyline.
69-70 Mustang, 1970 Chevelle SS, 1970 'Cuda, 70 Challenger R/T, 1969 Road Runner, and 1969-1973 Trans Am. If I had them it would be hard to sell them though. I would want to keep them all..
No, he just needs to go and look at the eye candy next time. Leave the selling to the deep pockets.
You make these videos .. to make money. Period.
The only ones that make money at a Mecum auction is Mecum. lol
Honest video now you no truth Car Auctions always make money. My friend had same experience with the other major car auction.
I got a 1985 Rolls-Royce
1976 Rolls-Royce phantom
1985 Porsche 944
All in excellent condition, gonna try the mecum auto auction here in Houston Tx, and hope i make a sale. i seen the mistakes you made, and i won't repeat them. Thanks for the informative video.
Only mistake I think you made was Not Excepting that free Ranger Truck that was offered to you. Understandable you didn't want it,. It's gonna need a driver, but it won't be me..!
Trying to sell a RHD Japanese sports car at mecum: 😆😆😆
Mecum is for old, rich men who love muscle cars. I could have told you that and I’m not even in the car flipping business.
Bring A Trailer is the place you need to be. Auctions go for a week, all over the world.
i purchased a 1976 Bronco , 302, 3 speed , hub caps, dark green with a white top, no radio, 8000 miles in 1978 for $4000. like new.
Mecum is a specialized auction if you don't have the best of the best taking a LX Ford Mustang to Mecum is like taking a knife to a gunfight you should know this if you take a Mustang GT to Mecum it better be the Cobra it better be the top-notch it better be the best cleanest nicest brightest read it can be white no it needs to be a good attractive color you should know all this the Mercedes was probably the closest thing you had to a good try but it was such a hunk of s*** that I don't think anybody wants it I'm almost certain from looking at it that the miles are incorrect I bet if you hook up a OBD reader to it you will find out that it's probably got $135,000 just my suspicions
This is only the 2nd video of yours that I've seen (the 1st was the video of auction). I don't know who you are or your video style of your previous videos but I will say "Sorry you loss money on vehicles Hopefully you learn from your mistakes. But most of all, I've read a lot of peoples comments and it just reaffirms by belief that most people are just mean spirited and nasty. Some comments were just horrible. Hopefully, you make a lot of money from videos on here. Good Luck.
The best car you have is the 2003 Mercedes SL500. If you can get it to Australia, I'll buy it , no worries!
Mod top A12 Super Bee! ❤ Yeah, they did that in the 60s and 70s. Just Google Dodge and Plymouth Mod Top
Thanks for showing behind the scenes, Craig!
You make the videos for money. Also the three of you acting like it was a lot of work to put some plastic and duct tape on a car is the most desk jockey idea of work I have ever saw I'm just happy you all survived all of that HARD work
Video quality is ok, sound terrible. To be honest, no real difference between these last couple of videos, and the quality of the normal videos you normally make. Do not waste any more money.
Thx for sharing with us even though was rough auction; tough business but ur learning 😊
The family time with dad n brother is priceless....so stay positive...
Money is tight.
Only the 1% r's can drop big money.
Guys in 100 -K to 150-K are in a hold.
Many professionals that have been going to Mecum and Barrett Jackson lost money too. I had the pleasure to meet you and your family at Mecum. Even you loose a lot of time complaining, you will keep on trying new things, until you make it big. Thanks for being open with the numbers. Good video!
Why do you run like that? At 16:45
I am truly sorry for your troubles, however i really appreciate your honesty. Very refreshing. Great video
With all the travel expenses and percentage you need to pay out, you need to put the cost of doing any old car into something special/desired and then you'll make money 💁♂️
Love the professional camera work! A definite plus! As far as the auction, I applaud your desire to run with the big dogs, but frankly, Mecum is well above your level. My son and I have been watching Mecum, Barrett-Jackson, Silver, etc and we were both puzzled by the cars you brought to the auction. They just weren't competitive. I would have thought you could have seen that by auction watching. Anyway, lesson learned and great humility on your part!
None of this would have happened if GERMAN was still around. Just sayin.
Craig... you look like a used car dealer with your sunglasses... It's cloudy there...
That is when you need more protection. The clouds filter the UV rays and burn you faster.
Dude. You say the same thing 3-9 times. I enjoy the info, but the repetition just kills me.
Never to old to LEARN! Thanks for the vid.
He gave away that Fox Body Mustang. That car should have brought $9500. It's a V8 convertible. The most desirable combination
Transportation and auction fees are hard to overcome !!!!
Anyone who buys Audis shouldn't even be in the car business, but we come here to see you fail again and again so maybe you are doing something right
The Delorian...Let's see if you bastards can do 90!
Wow you have to steal cars if your going to ship them around for quick flips. Craig at least the videos were pretty good 😀
He did not lose a dime. Tax write off for his dealership. LOL
It must have been cool being on the stage with your pops and brother at least.
this guy is just nuts, dont get his way of buying, wow this is the typical dealer..
6:12 - “Mod Top!!” Rare option for sure!
This auction is for specialty cars not the cars for everyday people
What I find a little disturbing, is when a phone bidder calls at the end of the indoor bidding process - and "walls" away with the car. No thanks.
Mecum is for the super rich and the ultra stupid. Whole different game buddy.😮
Is it a missing Hood tach on the GTO?
I think that was 1968 and 69 that had the hood tach ??
Your buisness strategy stinks. Why do you live in New England but sell cars in Florida. Travel time, shipping costs, lack of tools and floor space to repair you cars, put you behind a financial 8 ball.
All tax deductible from his dealership. He didn't lose a dime. LOL
I myself, like the other way that you filmed. It's more personal. The way it is now, it's like. your news reporter.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍Hopefully you'll reconsider your filming The news reporter deal. is not you.
It is okay to play in the minor league. Lesson Learned. 👍
Only a fool would pay $60k for that mustang. I had one and struggled to sell it at a fair price. That was in 2003 when nobody wanted one. It will be worth $4k as soon as someone farts and the market changes.
I sold mine for 58k😢
Mustang was the biggest L. Great video though.
It's unrealistic to try and clear any kind of money with a $3000. Seller's fee that is absurd, For regular everyday kind of car exotics , on the other hand have such a high mark up that the three thousand dollars isn't horrible
Mecum and Barrett Jackson rip people off
Only 200ish 70 Judges got the hood tach.
Everyone is such a damn critic! Craig, your doing great! You have a great business that pays your bills, raised a family and have great fun toys! You can afford to go to the Mecum auction and have fun and learn too. As a 30+ year general repair shop owner I get and live all you do to help out dealers! Maybe I should do a mechanic shop channel? What do you think???
You never said what was missing from the GTO, was it the hood tach?
I'm not sure if the 1970 GTO came with a hood tach. But 1968 and 69 did
Man, I am truly sorry you lost that much. Forgive me but there are some things you failed to mention. You lost a LOT more than you said. Air fare, hotel, expenses etc. And most importantly, as a small business owner, I too often forget to calculate my TIME. I am a employee at my own business. My salary/hourly rate MUST be calculated into any profit or loss. That said however, you were able to offset that by quite a bit with the videos and youtube views. So that's a plus. Also, the knowledge you gained is priceless. Some people pay thousands and thousands for a class on this stuff, you saved money learning from your relatively minor bad mistakes. Education, too, is priceless. One last thing. I was 50/50 on the camera crew. Now, I think i like it. Maybe you can hire some young man/woman to just follow you around and film you all day. Then let your editor assemble the best from that. Pricey I know. Only you know if your channel can justify the cost. But I honestly believe it would be a growth opportunity. Either way, best of luck man, and again sorry for the loss. Car market is so screwed up right now it's just crazy. God Bless.
This is a tax write-off for his dealership at Mecum. LOL
Sorry this adventure didn’t work out for you but is was an education. Would Definitely Like A Follow Up About The Fee’s & The Inner Workings Of The Bid Goes On Lane🚗
Mod Top!…wow….uber rare option. Wish you would have told us what it sold for.
The only party that makes out at Mecum is Mecum.
Its missing the tach!
I grew up back then.
It's a changing market. The rich are still rich. The middle class and poor are back to poor. So the super high dollar stuff, the rich are still buying. The marginal/bargain stuff, no money left to spend from those buyers.
Those auctions are for the super rich looking for the best of the best collector cars.. they have little interest in cheap cars.. those assholes are so rich if they want a bag around toy they just gor buy a brand new mustang or something like that… i see a lot of really nice late model cars go pretty cheap on barret jackson
That's right. No millionaire is going to bid a Corvette with 76 thousand miles and 10 years old. LOL
Hey buddy you learn from your mistakes
Blame Biden man. The economy sucks!
your family loves your you and you admitting it was a bad time and you had them working just shows they obviously did it but did it for you. It's a loss but respect your family and enjoy with them now and know you owe them.
You tried a different way of doing business. You picked up on the failures during the process, it confirms what you already know. It was interesting content. I look forward to you getting back to your usual stuff at your shop. The video quality is fine without a crew. England.
Craig sold out to an ambulance chaser
When you are a scammer sometimes you get scammed
I am not a car enthusiast as I have other interests but I do enjoy watching the Mecum and Barrett Jackson auctions, When I see the cars and people bidding I get the feeling that they cater to a certain high end clientele. that are seeking out the BEST cars on the market and they buy and sell them as I would stocks and they know what the car's value is at a future auction. That isn't to say that some are added to collections but I am more inclined it is a buy/sell situation, Justy my take.
Why didn't you sell the Ferrari there?
A buick reatta would sell for more
Dang man his daddy bought him a mustang at 16 that’s how he started this tiny used car business . Daddy’s money!
Jealous? And i paid for some of that mustang and dinthe repairs. Its how I learned. (Thanks dad!)
I really appreciate the truth. Most people only post how much they made and much if it is BS.
