Did anyone notice that when bill comes, dipper yawns? Maybe he falls asleep and made the dream so he could get the deal. Also the first time he came he fell asleep and bill asked for the favor. My friend opened my eyes to this conspiracy.
Well it makes sense because the Mindscape is the place between the living and dreams AKA the 4th dimension (a place where time and space shifts based off thought)... It connects to a lot of lore from Twin Peaks, which this show heavily references. Also the entire scene wherein Dipper gets possessed is all in red, which I always thought connected to the Red Room from Twin Peaks. In Twin Peaks, the protagonist, Agent Cooper, is able to visit the Red Room in only his dreams and there he is able to communicate with beings from and/or trapped in that dimension.
Maybe the laptop wasn't going to self destruct. It happens just after Dipper yawns so maybe he fell asleep and it's all a trick by Bill so Dipper would be more likely to take the deal

Yeah, the whole "Laptop Self-Erase" thing was a dream, if you look carefully you'll see that the countdown only begins once dipper closes and rubs his eyes (this is where he falls asleep), meaning everything else until the deal is made, down to Mable and her friends in the front yard, was a dream orchestrated by bill

Including the fact that Gravity Falls is a place where anything could happen, it's surprising (and suspicious) that so many attempts were permitted before the countdown to the data erase. It wouldn't be that big of a shock that Dipper didn't catch it, either; he _is_ smart, but he was a sleep-deprived human, and we have our limits.

Good point, but the computer was old so it probably allowed more attempts for that reason, plus it was a homemade computer by fiddleford.
