I see people saying Bill shouldn't have lost because of his omniscience/unlimited power, and I'm wondering if we watched the same show. Bill is obviously extraordinary dangerous, and the most powerful character in the show, but his power is clearly not limitless. When we first meet him, we learn there are caveats to his so-called infinite power; he can't enter other dimensions directly without assistance, he can't enter people's minds without permission, and he can't read people's minds beyond the surface level. If he could, he would have just ripped the equation out of Ford's head. That magic force field shouldn't have been an issue for him to begin with, yet it stopped him dead in his tracks. Bill may be able to alter physical matter however he wants, but that does not make him a god. It's true that once he's in a three-dimensional space he's physically invincible, but it's well-established that he's vulnerable in the mind-scape. Without thought to shape and guide his power, he's nothing. His real weakness is that he's unable to comprehend the true nature of three-dimensional beings, and that's why he lost. As a physical threat, Bill is unstoppable, but in a battle of pure will, he can be beaten. This is established in the canon of the show, and this is how he ultimately loses.

I see people saying Bill shouldn't have lost because of his omniscience/unlimited power, and I'm wondering if we watched the same show.
Bill is obviously extraordinary dangerous, and the most powerful character in the show, but his power is clearly not limitless. When we first meet him, we learn there are caveats to his so-called infinite power; he can't enter other dimensions directly without assistance, he can't enter people's minds without permission, and he can't read people's minds beyond the surface level. If he could, he would have just ripped the equation out of Ford's head. That magic force field shouldn't have been an issue for him to begin with, yet it stopped him dead in his tracks. Bill may be able to alter physical matter however he wants, but that does not make him a god.
It's true that once he's in a three-dimensional space he's physically invincible, but it's well-established that he's vulnerable in the mind-scape. Without thought to shape and guide his power, he's nothing. His real weakness is that he's unable to comprehend the true nature of three-dimensional beings, and that's why he lost. As a physical threat, Bill is unstoppable, but in a battle of pure will, he can be beaten. This is established in the canon of the show, and this is how he ultimately loses.
