It will be a sad day when a Lexus showrooms doesn’t have an LS.
Yes, unbelievable....same as Bmw would axe the 7 series and Mercedes the S class..... . Toyoda has ruined Lexus...good that he has been send away..... .
Yeah, the LS built the brand. Would be a huge mistake to kill off that model.
It doesn't really sell all that well compared to other models. They will kill it off for sure.
@@woahwoah2207 because the current LS is a very average car, their own mistake......
@@avdp9095 A8 will be killed but replaced by production grandsphere concept
Just please keep making the 3.5L V6 in the ES !!!
Doubtful
Lexus needs to bring the GS back period.
The last one still handles better than the latest ES
I had the GS .. but went to a v6 twin turbo , a lot more fun , but kind of small
Americans are not buying EV’s thank God I have my 2019 Es350 mint 30.000 miles 3.5 V6
I get killing off the sedans but it doesn’t sit well with me. I like my sedans but I can’t keep a whole market afloat
I highly doubt that the LS will be discontinued. Knowing how the Japanese respect their beginnings, I don't see Lexus getting rid of what started the Lexus brand.
Also, here in the Middle East we have a big market for LSs, especially V8 variants.
Why would they keep it when it doesn't sell? They don't have a V8 variant so what relevance does that have? At the end of the day the LS is just ONE CAR, it doesn't make the Lexus brand anymore and it hasn't in years. It's an irrelevant car now.
Lexus already lost their signature with LS failure. The modern one with TTV6 is selling very less. I think they will discontinue it. IS will axe the NA V6 along with ES in 2025/2026. Once the LC 500 is also axed there won't be an RC F and IS 500 either. Which will mark Lexus complete transformation into Hybrid EV garbage future.
ES is still selling well. IS i can see them axing it. @@lostalx
The issue is it only sells 5000 LS a year in the US. It may not justify the development and production costs
@@pinecedar180 Lexus sells 6000 cars per year in total in Germany, they still stay here.
I’ll be keeping my 2023 es 350 until the end of Time , I don’t want to go electric or lose NA v6 for a turbo 4 cyl
Same here I have the 2024 ES UL. I couldn’t find a 2023 that had what I wanted in it. I sure tried hoping I could get a deal. We need to start a club. 😂😂😂 but on a serious note I wonder why more and more car companies are starting to go with smaller engines?
@@user-kk3qg5el1m ? you wonder?
I believe lexus has everything to be better than competition
They don’t. If they did they’d have done it by now. Only now we have a 3 row suv from Lexus. Only now we have useless tech nobody asked for.
I wish they could try like they did in the 2000s slaying Mercedes and BMW in sales for 11 consecutive years
They do they just can’t put 2 and 2 together, sadly. The potential for them is huge.
Lexus does have the resources to do very well but the brand just seems quite confused at the moment.
@mark_u I agree,I have had 2 Lexuses and love them, most reliable car on the planet, but honestly they really don't have exciting cars anymore, what they have coming out in the next few years is so boring. They really need to make the cars more exciting, also sleeker body styles.
It doesn’t really matter if the attracted as many costumers as the other models, still the LS is a huge part of Lexus, it’s basically the front image of Lexus in general which makes really important. The LS was the car for Lexus to show what Lexus was capable of. If they were to discontinue the LS the whole image of Lexus would just be destroyed.
agreed
So true😢
Not anymore. The ES, NX and RX are the faces of Lexus. Ppl have forgotten bout the Las as Lexus loses prestige
The LS is by know means the face of Lexus anymore. It's really lost its place int he full size luxury sedan market. The ES and RX are now the bread and butter of Lexus.
Nonsense. No one cares about the LS and it doesn't sell. How in the world would the entire brand be destroyed by the cancellation of one car? Today's SUV crazed market/buyers wouldn't even notice the LS was gone. The image of Lexus is in their SUVs now, not the LS. The LS and it's presence in the market overall was dead years ago when the competition ran it over. The LS wouldn't be missed by the general market anymore than the GS has been missed and it most certainly wouldn't bring down or "destroy" the Lexus brand, that's a child's thought process.
It makes more sense to cancel the LC than LS. Lexus wouldn’t be Lexus without the LS. Just update the 5.0L and put it in the next LS
LC will be replaced by the electrified sport while RC will be replaced by GT3 concept
I wish the v8 would come back to the LS!!!! Don't cancel the LC though!
@@350zlover2 Unfortunately the 2UR GSE is seeing it's last days now. LC 500 has been refreshed for 2024, I think it will stay until 2025/2026 when they launch the EV flagship, once that happens the RC F and IS 500 will lose the NA V8 for good and forever from Lexus.
It'll be an error to cancel the LS, a very big error in my view. They just need to give the Ls more power trains and one that's BEV with more luxury and tech. They have what it takes to be innovative they did it for decades with the LS. They should go back and drop a new generation LS that's bigger better with more power trains and tech. Leaving the LS with only a v6 twin turbo was an error. There should have been a twin turbo V8 with a hybrid option. Then u add a battery only powered one as well like BMW has the i7 and mercedes with the Eqs
I suspect it's the overall CAFE ratings for Toyota Motors and the move to PHEVs and EVs. Now, they could put the RX500h drivetrain in an LS500 and make it a great vehicle; however, people will/would complain about the eCVT. I have had no problems with my smooth running ES300h, Ultra Luxury with the eCVT and I get 44+ MPG. LOL 🤔
Nobody wants the big Buick Park Avenue 😂
@@rahimi4762 2023 S Class and 7 series are BIGGER Park Avenues and they’re everywhere… not true
My 1st car was a 1999 Lexus ES300. It was so nice, & it drove like a dream!
Still see them on the road. My daughter had an older one but someone hit her and totaled it.
Wait so what changed from the 23’ lexus es ? 😂 The entire first point about the 24’ was already introduced in the 2023 model year.
23 feet?
Im bias and i think the LS should be kept. Mercedes is not planning to ditch the S class. Heck Genesis just put out a new G90. If your Lexus and you drop the LS you just shot one of your dogs. Thats how i see it. Sure it doesn't sell in huge numbers. It doesn't need to. Lexus/Toyota has a huge pocketbook. They can afford it. Move the LS to a smaller line, and put your production into what sells, IE ES. I get that and that makes sense. Your point of the luxury SUV's absolutely. They need and should do that. Id say they should have made the LX just that while the GX is what its being pushed as a off road Lexus option. Id move the LX to that LS of SUVs. We all know they did a half ass job w/ the LX. They could have given us a true lifted LS which is what many ppl want. Thats fine because they dropped the GX which is more adventure. GREAT! Dont kill the LS. Turn that into a halo. Follow the market, meaning who are these ppl buying these cars, build a car for them. Obviously that market has shifted. Its still there. Lexus fell off the map w/ it. They need to do what they did in the 90s and go seek out that question and answer it w/ a new LS.
Very well said, literally the beginning benchmark of lexus. Shouldn't go anywhere, just give it the updates they did there other models and it would do great.
100% agree
Agreed
This! Killing off the LS would be a fatal mistake. It's like admitting they could no longer compete in the big leagues. Great point on Lexus having a "huge pocketbook". The brand should definitely invest in making the LX a legitimate flagship alongside the LS and LC and develop another flagship performance-oriented crossover alongside it, just like how BMW is doing with the 7, X7, 8, and XM.
Only thing on my wish list for this car is folding rear seats. Love my 2013 ES and even with the purchase of my 2022 NX F Sport I still enjoy driving my ES for better fuel economy. I'd trade both in for this car if they would add fold down seats and I'm beyond thrilled that they left the clock. Little touches like that mean a lot to me. Always fun to listen to your updates Kirk! Thanks!
All ES’s have structural bracing behind the rear seats, Along with the strut tower brace it’s what makes the ES so tight and solid.
What is mind boggling is how rear folding seats are available in the European ES model. Some even have heated rear seats! The new ultra luxury 2024 in America does not.
No the european version does NOT have foldable rear seats.
Thats one major reason that car doesn't sell here.@@rodrigoreyesberner4323
We have had our third Lexus ES since October 2022 (8 months, now.) It has the palomino interior. Even better looking in person. This is my wife’s car, I drive a Tundra. While I expect a nicer ride in her Lexus, this ES knocks the others out of the ride competition. Everyone who has ridden in this car with me have commented on the luxurious ride. That includes owners of a new Mercedes S model and the latest Land Cruiser. We made a 121-mile trip on a curvy river levee road and were pushing it due to being behind schedule. The ES shined. We will keep this ES for at least 7 years. That’s the minimum time we keep a car before we start shopping. I hope Lexus keeps something comparable in this price range. It’s a bargain.
cant go wrong with an ES, known as the old man cruiser sedan. My dad has the 2018 model and it still drives so smooth and is quiet as heck. One of the most reliable sedans out there.
The LS was one of my favorites! It’s one of those cars that never look old like the Infiniti Q50 and 70. RIP. Will be sorely missed.🙏🪦
The new "Vapor Chrome" Wheels could be the wheels known from the "Graceful Escort" special edition ES for Japan. They are like the ultra luxury wheels but a bit more shiny.
It’s a shame that more and more beautiful sedans are being discontinued! I’m beginning to think we have enough suvs ! Great info as always Kirk, and blessings to you and your family ! Happy 4th
I don’t understand why everyone is making suvs, they are ugly as hell!
Job well done, Kirk! I really want to see the next Lexus ES to come with a bit more head room, the usual hybrid trim and add a hatchback. It will be such a great highway cruiser with great MPG and usable trunk. A plug-in version will be an added bonus too. Oh I guess I want a Lexus version of the Prius/Prius Prime with more room and luxurious features......
Only if you can plug it in to a 110 socket and not have to buy a 220 fixture in your garage. Like the RAV4 Prime and you only need seven hours or less to charge a RAV4 Prime. And you should not "overcharge" any BEV, not until they bring in the Blade Battery technology from BYD and CATL. You can charge those blade batteries quick and to 100% without battery degradation.
Any idea on when we will get hands on footage with the new LC?
Thanks again Kirk!
Great update on ES. Do you see future plug in/hybrid/AWD ES in future to be Lexus version of Toyota Crown?
My 2002 ES300 is amazing. 4th Gen is one of the highest quality ES’s ever built. 2 years ago I sold my 2013 ES350 and bought my 2002 ES300. No regrets at all. Didn’t want a car payment anymore and I have all the luxury and super reliability in the ES300. Upgraded to a double din touchscreen with apple car play and a hardwired back up camera. Best is I’m the 2nd owner and have service records from a Lexus dealership thru 110k miles. It now has 177k miles and it’s in amazing condition. Everything still works, all knobs/buttons etc work like they should.
Kirk: Lexus!
Lexus: Yeah?
Kirk: Are you all right?
Lexus: Uh... I'm fine!
Kirk: In this morning, any change?
Lexus: Change? Yeah, big change!
Is everybody going full electric? Will there be any v4, v6, or hybrids left?
Side note: will they ever allow us to fix the electric car we purchase? Does everything have to go to the dealership for repeaters even with used cars? The whole promise with electric is there are less moving parts and less maintenance but once there is a repair, it’s several hundreds of dollars or more to repair/replace.
Future of the IS line? Any chance Lexus updates the interiors with the new infotainment before the line goes hybrid/electric? Or is Lexus just going to let the current IS models play out until then with the current interior - CD player, touchpad and all?
Any news on the IS?
Kirk, I would like to think Lexus will give themselves a chance to redeem the LS with one more generation. That RWD Crown sedan would be an excellent basis for a the next ES. 😉
Nope. ES needs to be FWD esp for the NE
@@rahimi4762 It DOES NOT need to be FWD. All it needs is a proper AWD system as standard. RWD based platform would do wonders to the ES.

If they were to move forward with an ES PHEV, that looks like the Crown Sedan, I will be placing an order!
Whoa, where are you getting your info? I can't imagine a front wheel drive ES replacing the LS!
I expect the new ES to come out in 2 or 3 different powertrain, possibly an ES 350 gaz (2.4 turbo 4 cyl 275 hp same as Nx & Rx ) ES 350 hybrid (2.5 4 cyl 240 hp same as Nx & Rx Hybrid) and either an ES 500h (2.4 turbo + rear e-axle : 367 hp same as a Rx 500h) or an ES 450h+ which will be the plug in hybrid (2.5 4 cyl + electric battery = 300hp same as Nx or Rx plug in)
The ES is very nice. Id say if your not hung up on "power" stick to an ES over the German rivals because its just better. But honestly I adore the LS. That boosted V6 is super smooth, powerful, and if i had one id chip it for more power. I have the LC500 and honestly the LS's 6 is just as fast, its lighter and as i said you can boost the ECU something i cannot do on my 2UR. I think they should have dropped the V35A in the LC and called it the LC400. The press would naturally gravitate towards the LC500 w/ the 2UR but to those who know where to look that V35A has its strengths. If you've never driven the LS, drive it. Id take that over a German rival, spec it out w/ the RWS. Sublime.

I was at the dealership and ask for the ES350 Fsport with the old school v6 but they are pricing 60k+ for it. Even the sale doesn’t recommend me to buy the ES with this price. 😢
Sedans are still selling like crazy, S class, 7 series, Charger, genesis, and others. The bottom line is Lexus dropped the ball discontinuing the V8 in this current generation LS, they could have least made an it an option in the Fsport.
Still rocking my 03 Rx300. Thing's so quiet at 150k miles, I honestly can't see myself upgrading. Though very tempting
Kirk, we ‘spoke’ earlier in the year about the Crown Limited vs the es300h..I decided on the Crown, mostly because it sits higher and is easy to get in and out of. I like it okay, but it’s not a Lexus. Do you think by 2026, the es300 will be lifted for us older folks that still want a sedan?
Are you from Fresno?
I wish Lexus came with a convertible sport car $60-$70k

Nice video Kirk! Can you do a video on the future of the Lexus UX?
Hopefully no UX future...hahaha jk It needs a redesign and quick but Lexus keeps updating it for other markets. UX 300e just got a huge battery upgrade.
Imo the current ES is wayy better then the current LS! It’s a mini LS. This gen ES really moved the ES upmarket! And tbh I’m not mad the ES is getting delayed. This gen is great and most likely will be the best ES ever.

To cancel the LS is a huge mistake.....I don't understand why this company can't/ won't update their cars. Audi, BMW, Mercedes all maintain and update their flagship sedans, then there is Genesis. To cancel the Lexus LS will put this company in a second tier status in my opinion. They will play it safe and continue building soccer mom mobiles. In fact why don't you just cancel all the cars and become an SUV/crossover company? There are people out there that like to drive and still want a sedan. Sure they don't sell as well sadly, but there is still a market for them

If the LS is getting killed off and the ES is getting bigger, I'd love to see the LS's current TT V6 make its way into the ES for the ICE-only option. I'd buy it in a heartbeat so long as it wasn't priced like the LS.
I don’t think the TTV6 will happen in the ES. The next gen will be all 4 cylinders, turbo, hybrid, hybrid max and hopefully PHEV
That 3.4L TTV6 is a crappy engine. Look up all of the issues on the forums, both on the LS and Tundras. I'd much rather the 4 cylinder, hybrid NA V6 or the V8!!!
Toyota V6 and V8 are history. So the best bet is the standard non turbo 4 hybrid in terms of reliability and great MPG. It may not get you 5s 0-60, but that the safest bet.

That's right and why you buy the hybrid! I'm getting 44+ in my ES300h, Ultra Luxury trim with added options.
I think the problem is I can't AWD on top trim...why??
I had a 2008 LS and replaced it with an RX350h, It was a great car but the current LS isn't selling and its twice the price of an ES. I can't see spending double the price of an ES for an LS. The ES has evolved so much that is makes the V6 LS irrelevant. Rest in peace LS.
“Fully electric by 2030 or later.” I predict much much later. Poor infrastructure, lack of required electricity in general, increasing cost of electricity with added road use taxes in the US, and high cost of electric vehicles…….hybrids will be the name of the game for a long long time. Love the channel Kirk, great info.
Some rumors say that the Next gen GS will be based on the Mirai 2nd gen and Crown Sedan.
I still think the rush to BEVs is a big mistake for the US market until the batteries are better and we have much improved infrastructure. Right now BEV's totally suck if you live in the northern part of the country.
It's a shame if they cancel the IS too. Toyota isn't doing its homework at all. I mean, look at the Germans and all kinds of beautiful sedans they're selling, while the Japanese keep canceling models and betting their money on CUV/SUV. I double this plan will succeed either, because if they're failing in one segment then they'll fail in others too. I love my GS models, and I wish they kept them and modernize them and made them real competitors, but like I said they're not learning or doing their homework.
Because Toyota is trying to compete with GM and ford then Mazda Honda Hyundai Kia or the Germans.
Soon these brands may kill Toyota

I just bought a '23 ES300H F Sport and took me 11 months to get it. It is hard to find a full-size sedan available at any brand. All I can say is that my ES pulls a lot of attention everywhere I park it. People love the car and the F Sport package makes it stand out from the rest. It doesn't look like your grandpa's sedan. Lexus dealer has a list of pre-orders of the Sedans from the IS to the ES and they can't fulfill them. People are getting tired of the SUV, CUV and mini SUV that has less space than a sedan doesn't drive better but it is the trend and that is what the manufacturers are flooding the dealership with. If you need a vehicle now, you will have to settle for whatever is available at the dealership but if they only have CUV or SUV you will have to settle for it. Having 5 vehicles in my fleet from sedan, hatchback, SUV, and coupe I can tell you that the most comfortable and spacious is the Sedan. Yes, the SUV 4X4 has its pros and benefits but fuel economy and comfort ride can't be beaten by a sedan. Hatchbacks are great for commuters, but if you are looking for interior space, trunk capacity, and ride comfort you couldn't find that on the modern CUV or SUV. I wish dealership stop pushing the same cookie-cutter SUV to everyone thinking that is the fashion trend and you has to be in the same boat. That is why numbers can be deceiving but the people want something else and unfortunately, they can't get it or they may think if I don't get the trending vehicle style they won't be in, so they settle for that.
They make more profit pushing SUVs and embellishing the cool looking styles in marketing ads.
Hey Kirk , I saw on Reddit a guy was able to talk with a higher up at Lexus, he said in the future the LS will be replaced with a SUV. Supposedly with a twin turbo v8,
The rumour has been running for a few years now. Not sure about the V8, since except for the LC, none of the TNGA based vehicles have a V8. Closest thing is the Century SUV, but that too is based on the ubiquitous TNGA-K platform. We can wait and see.
So the '25 ES wouldn't be getting a redesign?

Lexus should upgrade the LS to a HAND BUILT model(made to orders only) or 50/50 hand and machine built and price accordingly because of the low volume sales. They should integrate more technology into the LS. To get rid of the LS is bad for the brand. What’s next? The LX600?
I am the original owner of a 2004 es330 with 327,000 miles and a 2014 es300h with only 142,000 miles.
Nearly all parts are the original ones they came with. The 04 uses alternator's every 150,000 miles.
Even the oxygen sensors are the originals. The 2025 is looking really good to me If it is PHEV.
It will need a lithium battery pack with at least 40 mile ev range to make me a buyer.
Are they going to make the 2014 IS 500 model? Love the V8! I'm not a big fan of the gigantic sedan like the ES.
Do you have any updates on the is500 updates for 2024? RC F updates for 2024? New F car for 2025?
I love the es350 very smooth car

So is the IS getting infotainment tech upgrades??
Whatever you do LEXUS, DO NOT CANCEL THE LS! Aseblief tog.
Sounds like the new ES is going to move upscale some yes Kirk?
I don't care, this luxury brand is amazing and I'm glad to be a proud owner. Thanks for the informative vid Kirk!! Let's Go Lexus!!!
I love angular designs, if LS was rebadge Century it woul be epic. Current LS is too big to be organic shape.
Hope they don't forget to make the underpowered UX less dismal. Better off with a Corolla Cross Hybrid.
I'm disappointed that the new ES doesn't have a disc player
Me too !!!
Me too. I have a 2016 ES and will not give up my CD player until I am forced to. Wish Lexus would offer a CD player as an option for those of us who still want one.
Toyota needs to make Lyft back like the vw arteon. Maybe next Es?
Love my 2023 ES300h. Not much more to say. 42mpg over the last 4 months feeling like a king. Almost bought a Camry...so gad I didn't.
