simple question, some people say ES basically glorified camry because the same platform. where does the LS place in? bespoke platform or still same platform like camry/ES but upgraded?
Drive a Toyota Camry then drive the ES. Mechanical and drive train identical yes but the feel and actual driving experience is night and day difference. If you want practicality for a simple car to take you from point A to point B, Camry is the way to go. If you want that extra class and luxary ES is the way
You are choosing between one of the most reliable vehicles and one of the worst for reliability. If you want to become best friends with your mechanic go for the Stelvio.
It just depends on what you value the most in my opinion. If you are looking for reliability and quiet, plushy ride with a bit of luxurious in your vehicle? Then ES would be the one. But, if you’re looking for driving experience and handling then no brainer, absolutely BMW all the way.
19:33 that is a Camry road noise level. I can hear the tire traction, and the noise coming from cars passing by. That's not acceptable for a luxury level.

Yes, of course, it is autodim and it changes to night mode on its own, changes google maps from white daytime to darktheme/night map on its own as well, this happens whether you're using Apple CarPlay or AA, or using NOTHING, like the Lexus Stock Map Navi, AutoDim is very accurate.
Not sure why Lexus won't make more PHEV's...Problem is once you drive a PHEV a hybrid or ICE will never match the smoothness, comfort and quietness of a PHEV....It's night and day difference imo in terms of comfort...
The only difference between a regular hybrid and a PHEV is the latter has a bigger battery and you can plug it in. The performance and noise and ride etc are the same.
@@Sashazur That isn't true. I own a rx450h and an x50e. The x50e is considerably quieter and smoother. It's not even close...Also the batteries add 180 hp on top of the gas engine, so no the performance is not the same either.
No, The ES operates in a different segment. The build quality is different of a Lexus. Ordinary people won't notice, but when you go into details, there is a difference. But comfortable, quiet, elegant. Everything is where it needs to be button wise etc. Really gives good competition when compared to the equivalent of a 5 series or e class.
Awesome review man, love your vids
that's like my dream car. thanks for the video much appreciated
@14:52 you input the address by hand. Does the Lexus not allow you to input by voice?!? That's unsafe if you're constantly having to manually type
I did a 1000 mile roadtrip in my ES300H, was so comfortable and smooth
For 2023 that's a rather minimalist interior and I love it. Cow interior looks great but I wanna see it in 2033. Also, rarest Lincoln spotted
i am trying to decide if I want to trade my 2020 Impala 305 HP for the 4 cylinder Lexus hybrid....love the luxury of the Lexus but the engine less power concerns me....not a lead foot but the power is good for highway entry etc.....help me out...change my mind
If your Impala is reliable, sit tight with it. And I say that as an ES owner.
OMG i've been waiting for tthis video sub topher, how is the ride compared to other cars ? Is it softer than the rx models ? I'm thinking about buying one !!
Ya know, the ride is a lot better than i thought it would be. Even compared to some SUVs it excels in floatiness and overall comfort. It's been a while since I've driven an RX, but if I remember correctly ride quality is very similar!
I wish people cared about drivetrain. I own the final generation of the GS and I really just love the rear wheel drive biased power train. It does not drive the same as the es at all.
let's be honest, the GS died primarily because the Crown (traditionally) died in Japan
i have the same last gen Gs350, i wont sell because i cant find anything reliable and nice as it is. ill keep it. nothing but oil changes 120k. it has the rear heated/cool audio buttons and mark levison, 18 way power, more loaded than F-sport, cars in this range are pushing 80-100k now.
The GS is awesome! I have a GS F V8 and love it! Rear wheel drive and V8 power! However MPG is only 19 around town.
Thanks for the great video Topher, really gives another perspective of what a car can be. Would be nice if you could get a NX350h or even the 450h+ for a road trip!
I have a 2013 Gs 350 without the Mark Levinson and as much as I wanted it, I can't complain that I don't have it! It sounds way better to me than some of the other sound systems I've been in! It sounds louder than the 2013 Es 350's ML to me, but it does lack the bass.
I damn near almost got 600 miles on a tank on my ES Hybrid
It's totally doable.
Just need to align right weather + smooth driving + milking the fuel reserve.
When low fuel turns on you can do at least 100 miles more.
Wait? Black pump means gasoline/petrol in US? What colour are your diesel pumps then?
green, bro
whats going on ? Roundabouts in the US ...
Pushing the button at the pump with the tip of the gas nozzle made me wince.
simple question, some people say ES basically glorified camry because the same platform. where does the LS place in? bespoke platform or still same platform like camry/ES but upgraded?
Yes the ES is basically a Camry XSE but better in every way, the LS is a completely different car.
Yes, same platform. Just stretched. Makes production cost lower.
Bespoke. Shares nearly nothing with the ES except some interior bits the ES borrowed in order to add some prestige.
Drive a Toyota Camry then drive the ES. Mechanical and drive train identical yes but the feel and actual driving experience is night and day difference. If you want practicality for a simple car to take you from point A to point B, Camry is the way to go. If you want that extra class and luxary ES is the way
Really like these road trip videos!
I remember the basic audio sys. of Lexus is JBL, correct me if I am wrong.
Pioneer
It's worth the upgrade to ML. The stock Pioneer isn't all that great unless you only listen to the news
Would you get a used ES 300H or Stelvio TI SPORT for around 30-35k USD ?
ES 300H all the way if you’re buying. Reliable and low maintenance cost!
You are choosing between one of the most reliable vehicles and one of the worst for reliability. If you want to become best friends with your mechanic go for the Stelvio.
How does the HUD compare to other recent makes you've driven?
Great car.
Would you recommend it over a 2023 BMW 5 Series in terms of overall driving experience & handling?
It just depends on what you value the most in my opinion. If you are looking for reliability and quiet, plushy ride with a bit of luxurious in your vehicle? Then ES would be the one. But, if you’re looking for driving experience and handling then no brainer, absolutely BMW all the way.
If you choose the BMW, lease it. Lexus? Buy it! 😉 Gs350 owner.
19:33 that is a Camry road noise level. I can hear the tire traction, and the noise coming from cars passing by. That's not acceptable for a luxury level.
truth is, this is the w123 2.0
not sure why they insist on the f-sport trim with this model. it should only focused on comfort.
11:03 - a clock that's automatically adjusted using the car's GPS module (just like the GS450h)? atomic clock precision anywhere on the globe, independent of the network coverage.
Agree with the W123 comparison, and the ES Hybrid fills the role of the old MB diesels which are long gone in the US.
My wife and I just finished a 3800 mile trip in 8 days. Our 2019 averaged 41 mpg and rarely ( unless small towns dictated ) saw under 80mph. Greatest car ever owned. Got the hybrid because our 08 Prius has gone through me, and 2 college students with no more than fluid and tire changes after 337,000 miles. Still gets 36mpg and burns about a half qt of oil between 3,000 mile oil changes. Gave it to my brother who will rack it up to 500k in a couple years
337k in 4 years 😮
@@good-tn9sr 15 years.
Amazing! I like that spec a lot, great content!
I can only imagine what it would be like if they could make the v6 hybrid. The lack luster performance is the only thing that pulls me away from hybrid
Are you in a hurry?
Thats such a cute car
Wonder why they never had heated seats option in the back seats.
I know the battery is back there. I wonder if it may have something to do with that?
They had third zone of climate, remote for multimedia, heated seats,
reclining back of seats, windows shades and buttons for control front passenger seat
The Takumi trim level has rear heated seats.
@@blueangel1972 Right. They have heat, recline, and rear controls in some countries, just not in the States.
Is this car really worth 20 k more than the Hyundai sonata hybrid limited? Sonata gets 4-5 mpg better?
JUST REMEMBER USING ECO MODE WILL MAKE YOUR BATTERY LAST LONGER.EVEN SAYS ON OWNERS MANUAL MINE IS 2021 WITH 210K .BEEN ALMOST EVERYWHERE IN CANADA .HAVENT SPENT A DIME ON REPAIRS .13 OIL CHANGES .6 OIL CHANGE EVERY 100K .
NO STARTER
NO ALTERNATOR
0 belts .
No power steering pump
Timing chain not belt .
Toyotas engine
Im so bad at throttle .uneven /rough drive like it can never break and it never ever broke once during 210k
Do get the mark Levinson though. Its the best in the business
I have a 2022 Lexus ES 300 H, I’m thinking regarding the Lane trace assist, wouldn’t a software update fix nervousness of the system?
I think is hard to say, but this car is larger and longer than many cars, do you think that is a problem in cities ? In USA you have space but in Europe this kind of car should me hard to drive sometimes in narrow places.
Love the interior and everything else. What a great car.
Such a wonderful video. However, I am still in a confused of an Arteon or es300h
I am looking at buying a used car from 2018... I was looking at GS450h or infiniti q50 hybrids because I want to enjoy some power too, but the looks of the ES are making it appealing... Im confused... :D
Does the back seat come down for more room to move things? Does it have heated back seats? I think that both the Toyota avalon hybrid and es300h are made in the same plant in Kentucky back in 2022.
No and no. Avalon's top models had both. No ES has either one. You'd probably prefer a certified Avalon, and they're a terrific value too.
use the turning signals in the roundabouts
I consistently get 44+ on the highway. It is a GREAT CAR!
Yours videos are so satisfying to watch
Eating a bannana in a Lexus and then putting the peel in the cubby is so nasty lol
😂😂😂😂 it's actually diabolical
Grotesque.
atleast not the glove box
Do waze directions show in the HUD or wheel screen infotainment?
unfortunately not :(
Only Apple Maps will show turn by turn in the HUD in Carplay on this vehicle.
@@anondjfizzle Thanks! I didn't know that.
If you put a half empty bottle of water in the bottom steering wheel spoke, the auto drive will never beep to tell you to put your hands on the wheel. You can have the car drive for you most of the way. Breezed through 500 miles a few weeks ago without barely touching the wheel on my 2021 Lexus es 350…
Also this car is pounder than my GS as well. I just don’t get why they axxed the GS SIGH 😔
Pounder??
Sadly, the GS didn't sell. I think Americans simply wouldn't buy a luxury performance sedan without a German badge.
This 300h vs a Prius. Who y’all got the Prius or the es 300h
I noticed in the night portion of your video that the infotainment screen on which the nav was displayed appears to be quite bright. Does it have a night mode to reduce the brightness?
Yes, of course, it is autodim and it changes to night mode on its own, changes google maps from white daytime to darktheme/night map on its own as well, this happens whether you're using Apple CarPlay or AA, or using NOTHING, like the Lexus Stock Map Navi, AutoDim is very accurate.
This only popped up because I’ve been driving my moms ES 350 when my car was in the shop for a new alternator 😂
Fantastic car. I just wish they would make an estate version of it.
Have you done an LS500? 😊
How quiet vs Camry?
where are you ? Minnesota ?
A reliable and ideal luxury car
Finally, a Lexus without hideous interior. Looks pretty nice!
I wanna buy a 2020 es300h with 80k km
Do you recommend it to me?
Do you think Lexus will follow Toyota away from electric vehicles toward hydrogen power?
Spacious, efficient, quiet, and reliable. That's just a perfect road trip sedan.
I wish they made the new IS in a IS 250H trim, that would be the best daily driver.
Brakes should last 200k due to regen. oil change every 13k as it uses the gas engine less
Good Lexus review.
You takecare baby🥺😊😅🙏🤍☕
You put fuel in like I do very awkwardly 😂😂
Thanks for the "banana lane trace test" at 19:00
Nice video.
Getting a lot of Hoovies Garage Vibes from your voice!!!
Now that Audi doesnt sell TDI's in the US, if I needed a highway mile muncher I would probably get one of these
Not sure why Lexus won't make more PHEV's...Problem is once you drive a PHEV a hybrid or ICE will never match the smoothness, comfort and quietness of a PHEV....It's night and day difference imo in terms of comfort...
Great video! It looks very safe to drive!!!
compare to Accord Hybrid ?
No, The ES operates in a different segment. The build quality is different of a Lexus. Ordinary people won't notice, but when you go into details, there is a difference. The Accord is a great car, so is the Camry, but when you buy Lexus you get what you pay for, and that becomes clear over time. It's not worth for everyone which is why the Camry's and Accords sell so well...
I’m just afraid it won’t be the same as my gs which never disappoints
As nice as the ES is, it’s not a GS nor was it meant to be. I drive a GS350 AWD, I’m in Canada, and smile every time I drive it. So far, I’ve replaced the battery and the wipers. Just a wonderful machine. Sad that it’s gone.
6:00 In Europe it is much more expensive, it costs $76,000.
$56k in Sweden
14:16 Malibu Maxx cameo
It has Pioneer sound system, an upgrade from previous Lexus premium sound, but lesser than Mark Levinson sound system.
