One problem with this wiring in that you need to have a 5 volt regulator on a white and blue line (amp turn on ) because the stock radio puts out 5 volts while most of the aftermarket radios put out 12 it will pop like crazy when you turn it on that can kill your amps pretty quickly.
awesome .I just bought the exact same wiring harness 70-5511.and will be wiring an aftermarket stereo tomorrow .been looking for a video like this .same as yours ,my factory radio stopped working also.thanks for posting up the video!!!
You did not use the wiring adaptor which looks similar to the speaker adapter but it has RCA plugs on it. It's what provides source to the subwoofer, that's probably why it seemed like one of the amps wasn't working, you never connected it. This seems to be a common issue when people swap out these factory radios. I say this from looking at what's needed because I'm getting ready to do such a swap and am trying to find out all the stuff I need.
I have the same issue and from what i understand is you need to make sure the 2 RCA cables are plugged into the right spot, and that both blue amp wires are connected to them. i think😅
I’m in a bit of a pickle my Harness has been cutt and now I’m not too sure what wire goes to what I know black is to black for ground but not sure on the rest I think I’m screwed lol.
Only my rear speakers are working on my car, The front one's aren't as I faded to the front and it didn't fix it. I plugged in everything I have and my harness came with another plugin harness but it doesn't connect to anything.
BigTunadaBoss maybe bad front amp. You have to pull the plastic cover around the shifter. It's under the radio , bolted to the floorboard. It's a monster to remove. Best bet is to pull one out of car at pull-a-part. Note : front amps for convertible are different from coupe. Also , speakers are 3 ohm , so if you want to replace the amps with aftermarket , you will need to change the speakers too. Good luck.
Yeah there's nothing covering my radio as I have all the trims out but there is also a 6 pin connector and another connector unplugged. Could that be the cause. I got a 97 Cobra coupe.
I just purchased the same radio and same wiring harness and matched everything up correctly however there is no sound coming from any of the speakers. What did you do as far as the amp turn on wire? Did you attach the power antenna wire to it?
Brandon Ianiro was your old radio ( Mach 460 ) working ? If so , double check your wire connections. There is a amp in the dash , in front of the shifter & below the radio ( tight fit ) , make sure the harness did not come unplugged. All the sound signal feeds this amp. The amp powers a set of speakers & also sends those signals to the two rear amps. Make sure you have 12 volts D.C. powering it. If you have to change that 1st amp , the coupe amp has 2 plugs & the convertible has 3 plugs. FYI , the speakers are 3 ohms which is odd. I would find a spare speaker & check if the radio can run it directly off the radio harness. If so , I'd start checking both fuse panels ( under the hood & the dash ). If you can power the speaker with the radio , all of the wiring connections are good and the amps are powered ( check power at the amps as the wiring harness has been known to break under the interior carpet ) , then you can either 1. Source some used amps 2. Have a local electronics shop look at your amps 3. Gut the entire system , speakers & all , and start over. Let me know what you find.
Wavy Max yes. If memory serves me correct twitters are powered by 3rd amp in dash , mounted just below the old Mach 460 CD player. Behind that amp , the air bag module is mounted. Tight squeeze.
MustangGal004 there are two black connectors on the Mach 460. The one going to the old CD player in the lower spot is no longer used. The other goes to the factory amp in the dash.

Grigory Dushkin over 5 years later and no electrical fires

Bro yes. Thank you for posting this!
what do you conect the solid blue amp turn wore to everythings working but not getting sound on my speakers or could it be a bad amp

I just did this too.... ugh.
mine was pretty staticky on the new radio maybe its the ground connetion?
I’m trying to figure out why the amps are not working..there’s no “bass” in my 98 gt

My stereo plug only has one solid blue wire.... should I connect the blue/white stripe wire to the solid blue ?
Do you have a wiring video. I’m having trouble with the sound. Everything works but the sound
chris patrick I have shared all my knowledge. You could take it to a car stereo shop or a mechanic that specializes in automotive wiring.
youre an angel! thanks man
Did you get bass coming out of your amps ?
There is an amp just for the subs and it all worked
I’m in a bit of a pickle my Harness has been cutt and now I’m not too sure what wire goes to what I know black is to black for ground but not sure on the rest I think I’m screwed lol.
Joshua Wilson you’ll have to find the harness diagram online ( good luck ) or take it to a good car stereo shop

BigTunadaBoss if it's not a Mach 460 , I have no experience.
its mach 460

motardmania it's worked like a boss. Very very happy. Worked 1st time , all the time..... That being said , make sure the grounding is good.

Budget Tech just a couple of hours
Did you mach 460 tweeters come on?

good job....take a look at mine if your interested in taking it further....
Except fur the fact that most people have cut the harnesses out...why people?
So I bought the harness
But the black one will not connect!
MustangGal004 there are two black connectors on the Mach 460. The one going to the old CD player in the lower spot is no longer used. The other goes to the factory amp in the dash.
I did take out the bottom unit, I took out the whole thing. The black plug in with 4 prongs does not fit my 70-5111 I mean at all lol
