Maybe, but Oakland has been a failure for the past two to three decades... I can't imagine any MLB team having smaller attendance than Oakland... EVER...
@@Savi80Not only that but the stadium has been left to rot on purpose and the product on the field has been miserable. Even when they develop good players you know they are gonna get traded for nothing soon. It’s absolutely hopeless to support that team.
My two cents its absolutely pathetic and disgraceful to see what has happened to the great, iconic and historical franchises of Oakland. That city and its fan bases deserve better and to be clear I am not a fan of any of the teams per say but two of them started in my home town Philadelphia and all 3 of them have such a rich a deep history it just sickens me to no end. I truly hope that Oakland at some point can get a expansion team.
As a A's fan since day one since 1968, Manford just like Selig are the 2 worst commissioners in baseball, Fisher is a idiot as a owner, hes not going to change, Im done with MLB, Manford should have never allowed Fisher to run this team into the ground like he did. Its a disgrace.
This statement alone to me is a 100% stand-alone, non-negotiable call for firing Manfred. That remark shows unbelievable contempt for the fans of Oakland. Yes, I get that his job is first and foremost to serve the owners. But maybe he should make it a little less fucking obvious.
How soon the fans forget the A's won their division just a few short years ago. If you desire an owner splurging on free agents, BUILD A NEW STADIUM! Where are the excluding corporate suites and party/picnic areas for group sales? Oakland is the landlord, not the A's. Good landlords upgrade the properties when they desire the tenants to sign a new lease...
I’m an A’s fan and I went to 3 giants games this year instead of the A’s with how bad they were run. I used to follow baseball closely now I don’t plan on watching outside of mookie betts. They A’s and mlb will lose a lot of fans over this. Hope it was worth it
I doubt this will have much if any negative effect on the MLB. Most fans of baseball dont really care about what happening with the A's right now.. Fisher is trash though. i hope he sells the team.
Why not bud selig let Reggie Jackson to be minority owner? Bud selig chosen fraternity bro to be A’s owner, if Reggie Jackson is actually minority own but John fisher doesn’t want office infighting
The story goes (Disclaimer: I have not confirmed the information given) that Seilg was a part of the ownership team that wanted to buy the A's when they were in Kansas City, to move the team to Milwaukee. His bid lost and he seems to have been bitter about it ever since. He's had it out for Oakland for a long time.
This is the real problem with the Commissioner being a lackey/shill for the Baseball team owners- always has been. It's no wonder every now and then Congress threatens to remove their most-favored status when they piss everyone off over things. I'd like to see a mandate from the Govt saying they need to have an independent Commissioner who represents the players, fans and owners. I am not at all surprised by the whole thing, it's a business first and foremost; that's why getting a poor owner who reaps monetary benefit from a poor team showing has to change if the game is ever going to move forward. Capitalism rules our world folks, have no illusions. Political palms get greased and the whole mess rolls on decade after decade. Soon the 10% will own everything and everyone. Baseball is just a small sample of it. "Greed is GOOD" (well, for rich and powerful)- everyone else, STFU. Ranty rant over and out.
I hate that they’re blaming the fans, and the city. How is it our fault that you don’t fix the stadium, that you don’t make any improvements, and you fire sell everyone after 3 seasons? “We couldn’t get anything done in Oakland.” Don’t the A’s own half the Coliseum site? If they wanted too, the could have a shovel in the ground right now!
4-5 years ago I remember getting an email from the Oakland A's giving me a survey to fill out about moving to Vegas. This has been in the works for ages.
If it is indeed the Las Vegas Athletics, YUCK!!!, then what the hell is Bobby Fisher doing owning half of the Oakland Coliseum??????????????????????????????
Thanks Ken for standing up for the truth, I appreciate you. I’m a season ticket holder for many years. I will not follow the A’s to Vegas and after the Giants voted for relocation I will not become a Giant’s fan. Fisher and Manfred have made me into a hater. 😡
What a bunch of bull crap. Fans in Oskland have been amazing all things considered. As a kid I remember the TV going black during the all Bay world series. I remember watching Rickey steal number 5,000 in the Oakland colors. Real fans know that this is wrong, fans of every team know this is wrong. They better put Oakland at the top of the expansion list. What a joke. Manfred is a joke.
Unfortunately the MLB is not going to give Oakland an expansion team. Maybe Nor Cal can get an expansion, Maybe even the bay area, but certainly not anything within the jurisdiction of the City of Oakland. The city charged over a million per year in leasing fees and never maintained the property. The city said they would sell the stadium then reneged after the A's bought the county's half. The city dragged out HT and saddled it with a bunch of bureaucratic conditions and extra costs. The city continues to lie about it's funding, which it does not have all of it. The city continues to lie about there being deal despite it being unlawful for them to actually make a legal deal until the port signs off. The city's minions on the ports board refused to bring forward a vote on approving the stadium despite the MLB's deadline for a stadium deal. The city continues to be antagonistic to the A's and the MLB threatening pointless lawsuits and extracting additional money. This is the third team to leave Oakland, the city has massive issues and its not crime or poverty or anything else. It's the culture of the bureaucracy and low rent politicians who will never rise higher then city hall. Rather then using this moment to step back reflect on what they did wrong and being constructive going forward, I guarantee you the city will exploit this for cheap short term political gain and destroy any chance of luring an expansion team and they will waste taxpayer funds doing it.
I'm not following the team to Las Vegas. For so many years it was Oakland needs a ballpark that has everything and we can't be small and then to see them settle for 9 acres of leased land in Las Vegas is a slap in the face. On a separate note I'm not an MLB fan the way Manfred talked about the fans and the effort of the Oakland 68s is laughable. I will always love the game of baseball but it will not be through the MLB. They showed their cards and made Oakland the example to other cities; If cities want to keep their team then you better be ready to hand us money or the team is leaving
That’s kinda unfair though because the Raiders left when Nevada gave them a nearly billion dollar handout for their stadium. The Warriors are not an Oakland team specifically. They are bay area team and they simply moved to a location they preferred in the bay area and privately funded their own arena.
The Warriors only moved to San Francisco (which is what Joe Lacob always said he wanted to do), had played in San Francisco previously, and were always really the Bay Area's team rather than Oakland's team
Did san Francisco lose the 49ers? Their Levi’s Stadium is 32 miles from the SF city limit in Santa Clara. Yet nobody says SF lost the 49ers. The Warriors privately financed Chase Center is just on the other side if the 4.5 mile Bay Bridge from Oakland. Oakland didn’t lose the Warriors because the team never asked for a cent from either Oakland or San Francisco to help subsidize Chase Center. The Raiders also moved from LA to Oakland. Does anyone say LA lost the Raiders? Davis is the least wealthy NFL owner and it was a known fact that he was going to move the Raiders to the city that would put the most money in his pocket and it was a given that it wasn’t going to be a. California city, as financing stadiums with public money is rare in California. More stadiums & arenas in California are privately financed vs. stadiums that have any amount of public money involved.
True, I was an Oakland A’s fan, no longer an A’s fan, lost me as a paying and engaged baseball fan, I don’t have access to games, no need to, and will not be rooting for the giants. Maybe if I move, I will become a fan again of a new team if my son shows interest in the game.

Ripped our last bit of joy in this city. Appreciate this video. Actually saying some real shit
A’s never actually made an attempt to stay in Oakland until 2018 when they hired Giles and Kaval, they literally had their sights set on San Jose before the whole rootedinOakland thing
@@SonHNguyen-qz5dgthey actually did. They had federal money via grants, the EIR was done and approved, they had renderings of a stadium, all that John Fisher had to pay was $86 million. John Fisher, decided to be greedy and tried to get something for nothing. That stadium in Vegas is not gonna be ready until 2031 at this current place thanks to pending lawsuits to pull that Vegas public funding. Oakland could've been ready to put a shovel in the ground next year. You should really do your research before making claims like that.

Can’t believe mlb blocked the sell to Lacob, Reggie Jackson, and Dave Stewart’s groups on multiple occasions just to hand the team over to Selig’s college boy toy
Baseball had a chance to have Joe Lacob as the A's owner but Bud Selig gave the team to his college buddy Lew Wolff. Joe Lacob would have kept the team in Oakland. Las Vegas would have gotten an expansion team anyway. I hope the fans and city sue MLB to get the colors and history and force John Fisher to do a name the team contest
I’m not sold on the fact that this is going to work, I hope I’m wrong. MLB is NOT the NFL or even the NHL for that matter and those two franchises are doing so well on the fan and sponsor support side. I think the NBA would do better than MLB in Vegas. They could have found other markets to fill the MLB void. Montreal, Nashville, Portland. I really hope they can figure out a stadium deal soon and apply for an expansion franchise somehow.
Someone explain to me how this is going to work. Fisher is leaving the 10th largest market to go to the 40th largest market. MLB teams get 25% of their revenue from local TV deals, the highest percentage of the 4 major sports leagues, he's going to have to raise private money to finance the ballpark which means yearly debt service payments, he's going to have the smallest ballpark in the majors, he's so cash poor that baseball is waving the 300M relocation fee, the A's are the worst team in baseball and have one of the worst farm systems in baseball so they're going to stink for the foreseeable future but supposedly he's suddenly going to start spending big money on the payroll? I mean, I'm no expert on this stuff but a 2 year old can see this isn't going to be some big panacea for the A's. They should've stayed in Oakland and given Vegas an expansion team.
Rob Manfred worst baseball commish modern day ever. John Fisher is like the Dodgers Frank McCort and MLB stepped in to get McCort out of baseball ownership.
You guys are so f***** You don't even know it. There's a brand new soccer field in San Jose and he has run that into the ground. Gap into the ground. The A's into the ground and you think he's going to do something in Vegas? Good luck.
California has way too many MLB baseball teams just accept it. Besides the majority of people in Oakland support the Giants more since it’s close to their territory. And to get there to San Francisco isn’t even a long trip.
You literally have no idea what you're talking about. Most people in Oakland don't support the Giants. Plus this affects all of Northern California and Northern Nevada where the A's fans are at.
You mean like how he nailed it in San Jose Fremont Laney college with the earthquakes gap banana Republic Old Navy etc. This dude is a walking trust fund baby failure. He literally has failed at every single business venture he has ever had every last one...
I feel for the true A's fans but Las Vegas presents a better opportunity for the franchise and MLB. Manfred has made some good changes to attract a younger demographic.
People getting mad for them leaving the s hole called Oakland that city is dangerous stadium is blighted. Anyone ever go there on vacation? They do in Vegas. Then he says that none of the money will go back to the Vegas community. So parking sales, rental cars, hotels, tickets and the jobs they produce won’t make the state any $? Then he says he’s talked to other owners who say it won’t work in Oakland. They say it won’t work in Vegas when no one knows if it will or won’t. I’m a die hard A’s fan and I want to thank John Fisher and the whole A’s organization for having the guts to take the steps to do what’s best for our team. Whether or not he increases our payroll and keeps are players is irrelevant he owns the team and he can do whatever he wants. Everyone is calling him the worse owner, you all forgot about Marge Schott? Frank McCourt? Schott was a racist, McCourt almost had to get a loan to meet payroll because he spent all the teams $. Billy Bene and David Frost have gone to the playoffs 11 times since 2000. Not a math major but that’s close to half. Also impressive with the facts it’s done through trades and player development. Learn your baseball before you pass judgement
The issue is, stadium deals aren't about stadiums, they're real estate deals. All about the land development around the stadium. That's where the money is.
There is no land development opportunity for the A’s surrounding the proposed Vegas stadium. That is what makes no sense as Oakland was giving Fisher everything he and sny owner coukd want at Howard Terminal. The reality is that Fisher doesn’t have the financial juice to get the financing to make the $12B Howard Terminal project a reality. Moving to Vegas for a stadium-only deal is a face saving move hiding the fact he couldn’t land the HT financing. Fisher still doesn’t have a commitment from a lender for the $1.1B financing he needs to build the Vegas stadium. He & Kaval are now taking about selling a stake in the team to raise part of the $1.1B he needs for Vegas deal., which is a slap in Oakland’s face as he wouldn’t sell the team to someone who would keep the team in Oakland, but he will sell a stake in the team to raise money to build the Vegas stadium. Scum.

Time to reconsider MLB’s antitrust exemption.
Bowie Kuhn wasn't that great either

He's had it out for Oakland for a long time.
There are not enough hours in the day to describe Fisher... how about trying to lower the salary of minor league players?

Thanks Ken for standing up for the truth, I appreciate you. I’m a season ticket holder for many years. I will not follow the A’s to Vegas and after the Giants voted for relocation I will not become a Giant’s fan. Fisher and Manfred have made me into a hater. 😡
Fisher doesn't even care about the team or the fans. Not one bit.
Oakland is more deserving than say Sacramento or San José for expansion?
Attendence level doesnt agreee with u
Rich white men allows stick together.
This is all gonna backfire, when no stadium deal can be reached. MLB is gonna come back to Oakland with their tail between their legs.

@@ldo1308raiders and warriors had bad attendance?

No way us A's fans will root for the Giants... Period!!
There's a need for a league wide boycott to give a wake up call for the cartel league to understand they messing things up
Someone explain to me how this is going to work.

Whether or not he increases our payroll and keeps are players is irrelevant he owns the team and he can do whatever he wants. Have you ever bee to Oakland? FYI - there are areas of Oakland where the average home prices are $2.5M - $3.5M.
John Fisher is a good baseball owner 👍
He’s the worst owner in baseball.
Scum.
