As with every form of art it is rarely the creator who makes money. It is the dealer! (And the creator gets no royalties from future sales.) And every art market is highly volatile. Expect items that are trending now to loose value in the future! Plus it is much like a pyramid game: To make money you have to sell for a higher price, and eventually you will run out of people to sell to because the more expensive an item is the more limited is your target group. NFTs are unique, but there can be an unlimited amount of NFTs (unlike real estate, more like watercolor paintings - anyone made money from them?)

Because I generally agree with what you’re saying but I’ll also say that, in my opinion, art legitimized the NFT space and now it has the room to grow into so much more.
@@TrentKennelly Thanks for your reply. There was not specific moment that prompted my comment, it was just my general impression. You make clear that people really need to put effort in. Seems to me a lot like MLM schemes, where people work a lot only to realize they made a few cents per hour, if any. Rather buy a lottery ticket, you save a lot of work, and your chances to get rich are much the same!

Great video! Very informative. You mentioned people say its a bad idea to push your own website - why is that? Could you also elaborate on things to look out for when trying to decide if a collection is worth getting involved with or not?
Thanks so much! The argument those people are making is that the marketplace has the power to push your collection because it has the audience coming to it. And I definitely understand that. But what I'm trying to argue here is that this really isn't that different from a product on Amazon. Amazon has its own agenda that isn't always in your interest. Same is true for Opensea. Their interest doesn't always align with yours. So if you can push your sale through your own website, you can control your audience and your message with a view toward improving sales.

@@TrentKennelly Good info. I would be looking at thinking about your website as an opportunity to use it as a Pull strategy. Attract people through promoting a secondary reason to come to your website. Do you have a cause? Can you legitimately link your website from a socially responsible point of view, for example, you may be concerned with the environment, or you may be concerned with mental health. there are many ways to link your concept with a social cause. Offer two of your NFT's for sale and let it be known your profits go to an organsation related to the cause. This not only promotes interest but also builds your brand credibility. There are many payoffs when it comes to using pull strategies. Good luck. Paul

Hey! They're both quite different, and I think it ultimately comes down to what you value more (ecosystem vs community, for instance). Ok...I just minted my Nft using Rarible's Lazy minting feature and I haven't made any sales yet. I've even tried sharing my Nfts via social media platforms but still no progress.

how can you sell 1 nft on multiple platforms, does it delete automatically on the other platforms once it is sold on 1 platform?
Sorry for the long delay! If you're lazy minting, then you run the risk of a double mint. If you want to sell on multiple platforms at the same time, you'll have to mint the NFT so that it has a single origin before posting it for sale. That way, if someone buys it on platform A, it won't be thereafter purchasable on platform B. Hope this helps!

Hey! That's really hard to answer with the info you gave me. Is the team assembled? Have they done this before? How effective are then? To the broader question - is it possible - yes, but the human factor plays a huge role here

That’s a hard question to answer to be honest. I know this might sound overly specific, but understanding the definition of success is most important - what do you want out of it? That will help you figure out the best ways to set a budget and use it. Great idea for a video!

Hey Trent, we have a budget of 10k for the paid promotion.. we wanna use influencers/media mainly and not really use paid ads (paid ads yes or no?).. Hey Vojtech! Influencers are a great route for this. I would suggest an influencer platform, though I’m not sure there’s one specifically focused on the NFT markets. At least I haven’t found one. The benefit is that these people are inherently open and responsive to these deals. But it’s very important to make sure they actually get engagement on their sponsored posts. A LOT of influencers are really bad at that, and it’s easy to overlook when their more organic posts make those metrics look strong.
As far as the budget - that’s a pretty healthy one. You’ll need to decide how the influencers are going to be compensated, which is a new negotiation every time. Are you thinking of big influencers? Micro? Nano? The benefit of the smaller influencers is that they often don’t realize their own worth and undercharge themselves. But those smaller groups have a more invested group of people. Kim Kardashian is like a roadside billboard while they’re more like a targeted ad.
Paid ads are a bit of a coin toss. They’re harder to use than they were 6 months ago, and easily identified by platform users. I’m not against them, but I think you’re better served, given how hot NFTs are right now, going straight to the source with an influencer approach here.

It’s a good question. There’s a typical curve we see for any new technology that starts with a huge spike driven by excitement and interest followed by a trough of depression and disinterest (where NFTs are now). The next phase as a slower and more sustainable rise is popularity and success. But that can take some time. I think the game right now is thinking beyond art to ways that this technology can be used more practically in web 3 and beyond. That even includes just very simply the utilities associated with an art project. :)
