@@TabletopTime If you're actually curious about the technique, there's a youtube channel called The Charismatic Voice, and they've done several videos now with cameras and sensors and scans etc of Lorna Shore's vocalist Will Ramos. Even if you're not into metal, watching and learning what's happening while he's making those unholy noises is wild.

Completely agree about models getting over detailed. I started painting greenskins all those years ago because they were simple but looked amazing when you spent abit more effort on them. These days even they have so much on them.
With greenskins it also allowed you to grow your bits box with each new kit you bought. Nowadays nothing is cross compatible (easily anyway), so you're stuck with what's in the kit and there's not that much room for easy head, torso and arm swaps. And I won't even go into the new Boyz kit.
I watch all of your videos, even though I am only interested in painting, kitbashing & playing with 40k & AOS models. Trying to find video ideas and come up with a constant flow of content would be a huge challenge particularly in your situation with a team of people who each bring a unique skill set individually, and are working to collaborate time, resources and share the work load, not to mention the great work being done in the background too. I just wanted to say that you are all doing a great job, I think people forget that not everyone on TH-cam has the same goals, someone doing it in their home, with a full time other job and making little to no money through their channel is completely different.
I have enjoyed over the years, watching you guys creativity not just painting with how you attempt to present your various project. This includes your outros… this outro literally made me laugh out loud.

I love that those models have a lot of parts, and potential to kitbash a bit as well, but I do not collect armies. Building multiple boxes for a whole army with that detail is insanity
"Thudd Gun is iconic to the Death Korp..." **sad Squat noises** Honestly suprised Murray didn't convince everyone to paint them like Steel Legion as a shout out to their origin.
What helps me with the new poses is to clip each part for a model and put it in a shot glass and then do that for each variant that way I can still do everything in an assembly line workflow
This video was friends painting minis, sharing batch painting pain, and laughing at eachothers jokes. It was perfect. It felt like natural hobby fun and discussions between friends while painting. As a long time Space Wolf player, the amount of detail GW added became a problem very quickly. They always felt like the kind of army that would receive very standard practical versions of their equipment, that they would decorate themselves, now they all have one of very few flashy designs which ironically makes them feel too uniform. I limited myself to one of each SW sprue variant just to make them look unique within the army.
If and when a Space Wolfs overhaul comes out, I hope they do them justice with a lot more variety. The old Short Marines versions of Space Wolfs offer a lot of choice and variety that we just don't have with the Primaris ones.
Batch painting is definitely a labour of love if you're into the armies. I main Tyranids and Skaven, and just last year did an Undead army for Armies on Parade (lots of skeletons and zombies). I average about an hour per mini but I tend to do more detail than others would. But the satisfaction of seeing your fully painted horde on the table, few things compare to it.
I've spent about 10h last week to finish 20 models, it was fine since it was about 2-3h per evening and in parts kinda relaxing, but I don't think I'm gonna repeat this anytime soon
I love that you guys talked about the points cost in this video, and how discouraging it can be to finish a really cool unit and then deal with the fact it is such a small part of the army. I think this issue becomes even worse when you look at the fact that your normal cadian guardsmen, ork boys and the tyranid basic infantry have all more or less doubled in price from 5th to 10th edition, and in between the edition change on average you need more models meaning that you are spending EVEN more money
Loved the video! Had a good flow and the results were great, even if it was a royal pain to do. Ya'll are champs! also yaaaaaay more Alpha Legion coming!!

Putting the models together is definitely a part of the hobby I struggle to enjoy. It always feels more like a chore than quality time with my figures. Still, it's much more fun putting together GW models than Wargames Atlantic :)
I painted up a 2k point army of Cities of Sigmar for my AoS army. They all have so many little greebils. The ropes and pouches and decorations. Really puts me off from painting more fusiliers and cavaliers.
This is such a unique color scheme. Never thought something like this could be pulled off. I'm currently thinking about picking up a Krieg army, but I don't want to paint them blue and grey, or green for that matter. But you guys somehow pulled off that dirty trench khaki color - now I really need to look into that more.
I just backed your new project, not sure what I'll use them for but that's never stopped me before. Besides I like what you guys do so wanted to chuck in some support. And 100% agree new GW models are just too fiddly to bother with. I'm currently painting up a 2nd edition Ork army made of original models and 3d prints in that style. They're such a joy to paint, space to be creative if you want but quick to slap together if you don't. Feels like there's very little room left for creativitiy in their current ranges other than picking your colour scheme.
So around 2:30 I have to admit that this isn't exactly true, I've built 6 of these infantry kits, and the arms and equipment are easily interchangeable between the bodies, all you need to do is have the pair of arms, and it would work well. Ofc not trying to sound rude, but just wanted to give a heads up that it (although tricky) IS possible to beat the monopose curse!
The most I've ever painted in a single session was 20 cultists. They were the old push fit versions that I got for a song and I primed them black, batch painted the legs, boots, faces, guns and detailed the eyes. Averaged 8 minutes a model once it was all said and done. And honestly they look pretty decent. To this day I do not know how I managed that.
Disclaimer - I am talking about the old cultist models from the Dark Vengeance boxset, but they, at least, aren't overdetailed, they're under-defined. I've been struggling to work out if details are pouches or pockets, straps merge with clothing, boots merge with trousers, etc. So I have to spend time working out what things are, instead of just painting. Hopefully the newer models are more defined.
Absolutely a problem with the monopose pushfit starter box models some times. The Kriegers didnt seem to have that problem but ive seen it many times, Especially pouches blending into hips and belts etc.
I've found something that helps with this is after you've primed them, give them an all over drybrush of a lighter colour, even if you don't use it as a zenithal or for slap chop, it helps define the shapes and edges and makes what you're painting a lot clearer. Likewise an all over wash can work if you've primed a light colour.
@arandomlostsoul753It isn't quite that bad, it's just that the details aren't super crisp because they're basically a single moulded piece. The chosen have a more modern, is this armour or demonic skin problem. But I'm someone who started with the old fantasy figures, so I'm sorta used to those, and took a massive break, so my hands aren't that steady either. With the newer models being less multipart than the models that started the pretty detailed look (the old death company being a great example), I'm always worried that they'll skimp out on detail for fewer parts, but looking at the death korp of krieg, I realise that it's actually closer to the opposite problem, with too many parts and lots of detail, making kit bashing more awkward.
On detailed chaos models, I think the new Death Guard Lord model shows almost a revision on plastering every surface with SOMETHING. Prompted me to whip out the tools, greenstuff, and whip up some replacement prints to de-detail my plague marines.
Building models really puts a damper on the hobby for me these days. Modern models have so many parts and so much detail that cleaning mould lines is sooo time consuming and I end up with crampy hands by the end of it. So many models I get half way through building the squad without a lick of paint before it ends up thrown on my pile of shame. One of my favourite models was the Battle for Skull Pass Night Goblins as they're 1 piece, easy to clean up, and I painted most of them on the sprue and the came out great. One aspect I've liked about 3D printing models is, yeah, they're a bit of a pain to set up, but once they're printed they're basically ready to paint.
Reminds me a bit of the 12-hour challenges the GW I used to leave near to ran, that was buying a model in the morning then building and painting it to completion before the store closed 12 hours later. I've done many things from a squad to a single Leman Russ, to a squad and heavy weapons teams, to an entire Baneblade. Some others liked to do a single character model, but I've also seen an entire start collecting box (with a little bit of help) and a full Imperial Knight. These days I'm painting more for the end result though, haven't been in a GW store for a while. Not that I need to, still got enough unpainted minis lying around where I occasionally paint one of.
Great vid and paint job! For trench duckboards I take a cocktail/coffee stirrer (pack of 1000 for $2), split it roughly and score textures. Cheap and effective! Works for trench/bunker interior walls too.
These looks amazing! I always find myself discouraged when painting batches like this! But the hints and tips are super helpful to know for future projects (New EC)
My new thing is I use a kitchen timer to track any of the time I spend on a project or army (including assembly). So far I’m painting 30 Cadian Shock troops and am at 12 hours. And they aren’t finished! Also, yes - GW is so detailed and ornate lately. It really slows things down.
I am batch painting my partners stupid amount of bretonians.. It is sooooo much paaaaaain, but everytime i get a lil group one step closer to the finish i get so happy and proud! It really does help to paint with someone, my partner got his 2 coworkers over to paint and now i got one of our RP members to join the painting of minies, so now we have a date every other week to paint together! Muhahah! (Good thing she has a well payed job..)
As someone who loves batch painting, it can be a slog true but it's really rewarding nearing the end. It is interesting that other factions are getting more detailed but I will say for Space Marines I feel they're taking all the detail away.
i am such a sucker for cavalry, i have a buncha cities of sigmar i wanna paint over summer. now im also gonna have to get this character mini, cause wowza is cool
I use Guard and Sisters as "firstborn" crusader squads in my Armageddon themed army. Painted the death korps as Steel Legion to bring it full circle. If you know, you know. x3
As someone currently batch painting 40 rubric marines in a white and purple scheme. I agree with the chaos space marines getting more and more detailed and harder to batch paint
It’s better to have extra details there. You don’t have to paint them, but for painters and hobbyists who people often forget about and are maybe more than people who play, it’s great
one TINY little modification I did with my Krieg killteam involved taking the mini with the Trench Bat and swapping it with a nice shovel sourced from an Imperial Guard Basilisk... I have since dubbed this specific trooper Kevin.
I cant wait to get my box, though I dont know if I'll be able to batch paint like this 😅 I do miss when you could just put parts into piles and build to your heart's content. Hunting through the sprue now is the biggest drag in the process for me. For all the knocks against just swiveling the joints, I will say it added enough "noise" to an army where nothing exactly looked the same and all felt like varying stages of movement. As much as I love seeing a big mass or horde of models, that price tag really limits me to just grabbing these discount boxes.
it feels like the DKoK is the one army were doing a relatively non-dynamic pose would hit harder just do it 90's style box with 20 of the same monopose Krieger standing at attention.
Well you CAN make them modular and change them up. It just involves glueing the torso and leg assemblies together and then sawing them apart, and using a little bit of putty in all the gaps. It is obviously going to take 100x longer in what already seems like a very involved process... I personally am a massive fan of modular guardsmen.
watched and liked to support the channel, i am the only one on the internet that dont care for "painted this to a lower standard then i could if i did it in a sensible way" videos
For my IG batch painting I do most my pouches the same colours as their uniform, or their webbing colour, and any bits of metal and other equipment(such as voxpacks, medical kits, torches, motion scanners, grenades, hard cases, ammo boxes, and the white metal land mines, and rocket launchers I get from the Assault Group (only the best for my little lads. I would not want them seeing a Chaos spacemarine or something and not having the kit to deal with it...)) etc in a standard colour, the same colour as their body armour colour: OD green for most duty, desert yellow for soldiers obviously in desert enviroments, depending on the unit and the enviroment they are expecting to fight in. I also like changing things up too. So I will give some guys camoflagued helmet covers, and others might be wearing berets, which will give me an opportunity to further demonstrate my little army, the exstensive lore behind it and it's equipment. For instance, one of my forces are desert fighters, and half the troops are in their greatcoats to keep the biting wind off, the Cavalry/recon guys half wear slouch hats with space emu feathers as well as combat helmets, the tankers are quite proud and all wear their black berets(traditional to that arm of service on their homeworld presumably that colour to better hide the oil stains) BUT the tank destroyer crews and basilisk crews are arty boys and they actually wear the helmets specially designed and issued to armoured vehicle crews as well as regular service caps. The Mechanised infantry are also overly proud, so many of them will be forgoing their combat helmets for the forest green berets of their home province. I love my army, and making each addition to it, so batch painting is kinda easy.
I thought this would be some mono color dry brush mostly but it's actually as good/better than what most people would produce if given a month. The red hands are very snappy; I think red masks would have been cool as well, at least as a way to designate sergeants.

You all are amazing and I love everything you do.
You know you're painting old models when you can't tell WTF something is supposed to be!
I quite like batch painting, feels very satisfying at the end.
They look great. Well done.
It really slows things down.
i really like the paint scheme!
We're about to paint some OPR skirmish teams and i think ill try out this spray method, it seems like a great way to start it off! Well done!
i am such a sucker for cavalry, i have a buncha cities of sigmar i wanna paint over summer. now im also gonna have to get this character mini, cause wowza is cool
Murray is into Bakemonogatari?! I knew he was a cultured individual but that is a new level!
Great color scheme. Krieg boys rock! 👍🏻
Love this kind of challenge
Just happy you did not "steal" my coloring :D
I use Guard and Sisters as "firstborn" crusader squads in my Armageddon themed army. Painted the death korps as Steel Legion to bring it full circle. If you know, you know. x3
Impressed they got all that done in 6 hours and still had time to kill "all" the Jedi.
Yes, you can paint a whole army in 6 hours.*
* - Your definition of quality painting may vary
Awesome work you three,
Its given me the confidence to airbrush the khaki cloth in the future rather than try hand paint it and burn out.
Those minis look great; but the point about the number of the minis needed to field an army is nuts. No wonder why Baneblades look so inviting.
As someone currently batch painting 40 rubric marines in a white and purple scheme. I agree with the chaos space marines getting more and more detailed and harder to batch paint
Sick work guys 🔥
That outro was worthy of a delirious batch painting
It’s better to have extra details there. You don’t have to paint them, but for painters and hobbyists who people often forget about and are maybe more than people who play, it’s great
one TINY little modification I did with my Krieg killteam involved taking the mini with the Trench Bat and swapping it with a nice shovel sourced from an Imperial Guard Basilisk... I have since dubbed this specific trooper Kevin.
I cant wait to get my box, though I dont know if I'll be able to batch paint like this 😅
I do miss when you could just put parts into piles and build to your heart's content.
Love videos on the new kits and boxsets
More details the better, very few people have the cash/army size to care about repetitive batch painting. I like the models I paint to look rad.
it feels like the DKoK is the one army were doing a relatively non-dynamic pose would hit harder just do it 90's style box with 20 of the same monopose Krieger standing at attention.
Well you CAN make them modular and change them up. It just involves glueing the torso and leg assemblies together and then sawing them apart, and using a little bit of putty in all the gaps. It is obviously going to take 100x longer in what already seems like a very involved process...
I personally am a massive fan of modular guardsmen.
this was a fun video, thank you for it :>
watched and liked to support the channel, i am the only one on the internet that dont care for "painted this to a lower standard then i could if i did it in a sensible way" videos
This was the only way these models were getting painted at all
They look SICK. Would love a Krieg army but as you say, money and time are hugley limiting factors sadly
