- Under a shining spring sun, two steam locomotives would grace the rails of the Swanage Railway, as the warmer weather starts to arrive. Making its first appearance of the year, 'The Dorsetman' Luncheon made a welcome return among the public passenger service.
The railway were operating their Blue timetable, which consists of 5 return trips along the branch line between Swanage and Norden. Traction was to be provided by visiting 'Small Prairie' - 5526. The luncheon, with 34028 "Eddystone" at the helm, made two return trips through the Isle of Purbeck, interspaced with the regular passenger service.
Locomotives:
GWR 4575 ‘Small Prairie’ Class - 5526
Ex-SR Rebuilt 'West Country' Class - 34028 "Eddystone"
All footage filmed on Sunday the 20th of March 2022.
Fantastic photography combined with planned positioning, hectic hiking and lingering establishing shots. Professional quality panning & planning. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks very much, Peter! Was nice to try a couple of different places.
Just watching this video makes me feel like I'm in Corfe. Will be visiting later this year to ride the train and visit the castle
Glad you enjoyed the video!
I really like this, you've produced a lovely film, the settings, lighting and composition - superb. I've been a Swanage member since the mid 1970s and obviously a Southern fan and this was almost as good as being there today.
cheers, Phil.
Thanks very much, Phil! Glad you've enjoyed the video.
Magnificent shot and capture there friend! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks very much
Good to see you're having a nice quiet weekend in!!😃😃, slow down lad, I can't keep up with you!!!😧 I say "Support Swanage," take a leisurely, magical steam trip through the Dorset countryside, better than being in that queue of traffic at the junction in Corfe. Nice closing shot👍🏻
Haha, beats sitting in front of the TV! Though current fuel prices are putting a question mark over certain trips.
Really was a wonderful day for it. Thanks, Bob!
That was lovely As a child living in Poole our family often went to swanage on a Sunday but only by dads car never on a train Have been on the train a couple of times now and have enjoyed it immensely
Eddystone with the blood and custard coaches looks class
Not gonna lie, with the guaranteed sunlight, that was the major draw for me. Looked amazing.
@@TheSouthernerYTChannel yes always stunning when the sun's out. Don't know why it looks so good it's most likely because at swanage most rolling stock is southern green
Walked this as a child before the railway was restored.
Bet that was a nice walk
@@TheSouthernerYTChannel It was lovely. My favourite part of the World.
I used to volunteer on the railway doing the track 1991 to 1993 then I moved back home to Hull
Hi, reminds me of the 1950, Saturday morning and the streets were full off holiday makers coming and going . Thanks for the video .😀
Glad you enjoyed it
