Magnificent video shots of my favourite class of loco. Thanks. I never saw 'Eddystone' in my trainspotting days as a boy on the Southern, but saw her in preservation some years back, so 'copped' her after 50 years or so! Brought back great memories.
What a Lovely Sound of Power Eddy makes. Well done the Swanage Railway for having it trail there. More Power to your Wonderful Line. Which I have had Two Goes at now. That's a coach trip from Dawlish to see you guys. Live every moment.
Keep all your Gresley, Churchward and Stanier Pacific’s, for me the rebuilt Bullieds are the ultimate looking loco, and of course those extra beats makes them unique. Great video. Stay well. Mick.
You are so right. The first one I remember was Brocklebank Line at Waterloo. Also spent many hours on Basingstoke station platform. Lots of un-rebuilt Pacific's too which I thought were amazing. Even liked the Q1's!
I am so pleased to see Eddystone back out on the track, and seeming to be running well. I am looking forward to being able to get back down to Herston and make another start on "Sidmouth". It is now 15 months since I was last in the workshop. Will really miss Ron and Ray though.
superb shots of Clan line and Eddystone thanks Southerner ,I enjoyed filming 35018 BIL on Tuesday. Although I am a Northerner I love Bulleids and have a B & W print I took of 35028 at Waterloo in 1966! See my video comparing Bulleids and the shipping companies they represent. Thanks for sharing. Cheers mate keep safe Brian
Cor she was putting out more smoke than me father who was somewhat known for his "passing clouds" rollie smoking down at Swanage hehe Always a lusty class was the West Country's, I grew up with the Southern Region and always will be my favourite over the others :D
Trying to work out what is in the single road shed at Swanage. It seems to have Maunsell type smoke deflectors but a high mounted numberplate on the smokebox door.
No finer dedication than to see her running with a load on and with such ease. Methinks 33 could do with a lick of paint, rather spoilt it a bit🤔 Not bad weather again👍🏻❤
She certainly made light work of the runs - a pleasure to see her with a load on the drawbar again. It's surprising how much the paint on the 33 has deteriorated - especially given it was refurbished as recently as 2015. Can only assume the sea air has something to do with it.
She sure is. Not too sure if it benefits the locomotive from a standing start, but it does ensure a smoother run at speed and with more power at the top end. For shifting a heavy load from a standing start, smaller driving wheels, and more of them, usually helps in that department.
Despite being a three cylinder loco Sir Keith Park sometimes would not re start in forward gear, and had to be dropped back ever so slightly. It happened when I was on the footplate on the Severn Valley Railway and again when I was on its footplate on the West Somerset Railway.
@@TheSouthernerYTChannel think I need to get my walking boots on then and get exploring. Can I ask where you park around Corfe. Thanks for replying. Great work.
Normally park opposite the viaduct for shots on Norden Common, here: www.google.co.uk/maps/@50.6412977,-2.0597385,273m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en-GB Otherwise, park roadside in Corfe village. No worries, thank you.
What, with a class name of West Country, its most definitely not. Its from the Southern Railway. Now I could understand some confusion with the GWR which is also west country based, but the LNER is East, especially North East based
As in the description, "The presence of the diesel was for insurance purposes, should a problem arise with "Eddystone" - while also providing dead weight when not needed, increasing the load for the Bulleid pacific."
Never did a steam locomotive look better than a Rebuilt Bulleid

The quality, sound and clarity of your video brings the edited highlights to life wherever viewed. Great to see and hear. Thank you, again.
Thank you very much for the kind words! It really is fantastic to see Eddystone working under load again.
What a Lovely Sound of Power Eddy makes.

Looking good, and sounding great- off the blocks like a true thoroughbred, with plenty of muscle to spare. Glorious.

I've a great fondness for spam cans, but have to agree that the rebuilt Bulleids are just magnificent!

Was luck enough to see Eddystone at Swanage station yesterday (18th). Looks magnificent in the flesh. Great footage as usual of a superb loco.
What a wonderful example or film making ..superb ..not to mention Eddystone
Thank you for the kind words! She's even better in person.

Fantastic. Another former Somerset & Dorset stalwart back on the rails.
Cheers! Glad to have her back.
Its my favourite class of southern locomotive
Very good video. Nice to see and hear her.
Thanks. It sure is.
She seems to be doing just fine!
Nice, another beauty to savour
What a beauty!

They have done a grand job on her that's for sure.
They really have
Good to see the old girl back🙌🏻
I hope she will return to the mainline as well
Sure is. There are currently no plans to run 34028 on the mainline.
Looking and sounding magnificent. Will defo be down when she's back in action. Also want to catch 78018 when she's running.
Wonderful video like and subscribed from Czech Republic 🙂👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great video, very fitting to have the Bulleid coach behind her as well!
Thanks very much! Certainly helped make the scene.
Hopefully it shouldn't be long till she re-enters service great video
Cheers
looking good !
She sure is
34028 doing what she does best. 😊

Thats the NRM T9 I think its something hung on the wall next to it that makes it look like it has a smoke deflector
@@kineticrail I've seen a picture of the T9 with the smoke deflectors from the u class posed on it while 31806 runs without them.
@@mattlander9119 that probably explains that then.
Can confirm, the locomotive is T9 Class - 30120. She is currently sporting 31806's smoke deflectors, as a 'why not?'
@@TheSouthernerYTChannel Well, you know, those south-westerly gales and all that. Thanks! I wouldn't have expected that in my wildest imaginings.

Beautiful locomotive. Would one of the benefits of a three cylinder locomotive be the ability to start a heavier train with less effort?
She sure is. Not too sure if it benefits the locomotive from a standing start, but it does ensure a smoother run at speed and with more power at the top end. For shifting a heavy load from a standing start, smaller driving wheels, and more of them, usually helps in that department.

Hopefully no mechanical issues delay this engines reenter to passenger service
Fingers crossed
@@TheSouthernerYTChannel yeah
Skilful video-making. Enthralling.
Thank you very much
Lovely camera work! Loco seemed to run well, any issues you know of?
Thanks very much! Certainly appeared so.
None as far as is known - the Locomotive Superintendent seemed pleased.
What camera do you use?
For this video, a Panasonic HC-V770
What about the 80104
Now out of service, awaiting an overhaul - plans pending.
Do you have special access? Some of your shouts are very close. I’m local and would like to know where these spots are.
All the locations featured in the video are publically accessable. Which clip are you interested in?

Is this engine from LNER?

When is its next test run?
As yet unknown, unfortunately.
