I’d be happy to see more personal life vlogging too if you were up to it. You’re an entertaining guy, it doesn’t always have to be about cars. Cheers!

      Companies are getting bad with this. Samsung is among the worst. If you buy their fridge, and ANYTHING happens, when the tech arrives he’ll check the water filter. If its anything other than Samsung, warranty voided.

    I was shopping for a truck in December. Two identical Lariats, both loaded except one had the twin sunroof. I chose the one without the sunroof. Nothing good about a sunroof.

    Reindex your sunroof...a couple videos on youtube. I had the same issue and this fixed it. Also keep the seals lubed with silicon grease. pop the sunroof to vent and use a very small amount around the seal in the middle of the sunroof ( the seal that pops up and the one that stays stationary) and then around the front where you can reach. Do this every 3-6 months. Will smooth everything out. All my creaks and pops went away. Hope this helps.

    Yeah i think the rear drain was clocked so when you opened the door it was enough tilt to have the water come out of the front drain.

    Friend of mine has a 2017 F-150 XLT Crew. Nice truck. It developed a very strong musty odor inside but there was no water anywhere to be found. He tried numerous things to alleviate the odor but it got so bad, it was almost impossible to ride in it. The dealership finally found out that it was leaking water around the third brake light, draining down the back of the cab but not inside. They fixed it and although it still smells a bit musty to me, it is way better than it was. Problem developed at about 20K miles.

    Dual panel sunroof issues on the f150's are very common. My 15' has had to be serviced 2x's, parts inside break when it sits for a while and you attempt to open it. It helps if you pop it up / vent it first, then close it, then open it (less stress). Glad I got the extended warranty, sunroof issues alone have paid for getting it (haven't had any other problems with the truck, though).

    Just had the same problem fixed on my 2018 F150 with the sunroof. There is plastic clips/guides that will break and get stuck in the track. The replacement parts are a newer revision that prevents this from happening again. We noticed with mine if I had not opened the sunroof in a while the seals between the 2 pieces of glass seemed to get stuck together and cause it to bind and pop when it opened which we think caused the guides to break. The Tech at Ford recommended this stuff called AT-205 by ATP automotive to use on the seals every few months to keep them from drying out and sticking. I’ve been using it and it makes a HUGE difference and you can tell a big difference in the way the seals look now. The only auto parts store that sells it is Napa but I’m sure you can order it offline.

    LOL on our Ford, every few weeks I just hear splashing sound whenever I go in a roundabout. When that happens, I know there is water in the door. I have to take a leaf or something from the ground and just stab it up this hole ( like on the Raptor at 0:25 ) to clean the way for the water. Then like a gallon of water pours out. 10/10 Ford engineering. 👏
    That said, when I opened the wheel arches, I found these sound dampening sponges that were soaked in water. Basically if you drive in rain, the wheel pushes up the water and the sponges soak it up and this whole environment/place there is just always wet/moist as it takes forever to dry out. What happens if you mix metal with water/humidity? Rust.

    I have the same year raptor that has the same sunroof problems. have taken it to the dealer multiple times and they can’t fix it. The door thing is normal it happens to mine all the time it’s the angle that the truck is parked on after it rains, once you drive it the water will drain out. There are many more power train issues with the truck but those don’t happen till around 40k miles so your good for a while.

    Ford technician here in the upper midwest. Theres a recall on all aluminum body f150's where the doors freeze in the winter. Water gets into the doors from either the window crack or the upper rear corner of the door where part of the door seal meets the body. That's where most of the water gets in.

    My f250 has the same sunroof and did the same thing, it’s the guide system for the window! Ford used plastic clips instead of medal and they break and get stuck in the track. The dealer fixed it in a few hours and it’s good to go!

    I had the same issue with the door on my 150 and I’m just down the road from you. Little pieces of leaves and pine needles get into the door. Once they settle at the bottom they work their way to the weep holes and clog them. I run the thin part of a zip tie up those holes and try to drag out the garbage.

    Just hope your steering rack doesn't go out. It's super common and just happened to mine. $900 online ($1500 at the dealer) because the rack holds everything, power steering module, angle sensor, etc. That's not all, the module needs to be programmed and angle sensor calibrated by the dealer on top of the alignment cost.

    Love your channel! The headline was a bit misleading. The door drains were clogged and it’s an easy maintenance item. Just flush them occasionally when you wash. The sunroof though is iffy. I have the same roof on my Superduty. I read on the forums to lubricate the seals occasionally. I’ve had no issue by doing this every so often so maybe that will take care of it. Looking forward to the next video!

    I've seen that before on a few F150's. The drain at the bottom just get clogged. When you wash the truck just open the doors and spray the bottom of the doors out to clear the drains. And the sunroof problem is super common. Easy fix, just needs new guides. Takes like 45 minutes to do.

    I’ve had both problems with my f150, my sunroof seemed to be stuck and not open when I left it closed for a couple of weeks, seems like the seals get dry and get stuck together and I would have to press the button twice till it broke loose and after it would break loose it would be good for a while, just greased the seals and good to go. And the door problem was definitely just clogged drain holes, same thing with mine

      I don't have a Raptor, but I have a car that has a panoramic sunroof. Manufacturer recommends the cleaning and re-greasing of the tracks every 2 years or so. My sunroof was failing to close/open some times and it was because the motor was sensing a resistance on the tracks. it's all good now.

  • @amazingvideo2869
    @amazingvideo2869 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    One thing I found out the hard way over the years is to absolutely avoid any car with a moon roof, skyslidder, or anything because they dont last and they arent covered under warranties, and they collect water and other BS, then if you do get lucky and get one that doesnt leak or collect water or shrink in the sun, then a simple wind storm will rip them off track and now You cannot replace individual parts for any of them but must replace the entire units as a whole. Alot of car designers deserve to be in jail right next to the Car makers. Ford especially! FORD YOU CON ARTISTS!

    As some others have pointed out, the bet is that your sunroof tracks need cleaned and re-lubed. For whatever reason and for a long time, it seems Ford's sunroof motors don't like the least little bit of resistance in motion and they'll start clicking and banging around like you described (had similar problems with an older Expedition). Probably ought to note to the tech when you take it in to have them blow out/clean out the drains for it as well. Those panoramic roofs are known for those kinds of issues.

  • @jimmytran1870
    @jimmytran1870 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The moonroof being stuck is normal. When it’s hot outside the, rubber seal expands and it sticks. So you have to tilt it and then close it then open it normally. Same thing on our 17 F350

    I have 2018 raptor same colour and the sunroof does the same thing. It did the clicking and pooping. But now it stopped but if the sunroof haven’t been open for a day or so if you try it’s like the seal is sticking and don’t open. The you hit close again and open again and it’s fine for that day.

  • @markwisner3972
    @markwisner3972 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The sunroof issue may be the flexing of the of the body. It appeared to not work for you when you were not sitting in the truck but it worked when you where in the trucl. It may be the body is flexing enough to cause the sunroof to get tweeked. A lot of people I know with those large sunroofs have problems. They remove a lot of structure by removing all that steel or aluminum in your case.

    I read somewhere that cleaning those drain holes is part of a maintenance thing along with the the sunroof. Keep debreeze out of the railings and clean something. It might be in your manual book so I'd look in there and maybe it's just a little bit of cleaning you have to do.

    Did your battery die recently? I just got a used Raptor and I only messed with the sunroof a little bit before purchase and it did the same thing when I went to try it out. Turns out the calibration can get out of whack often when replacing the battery. The same thing can happen to any vehicle with the auto-down sealing windows (my old Mustang and my 350Z both did that). The procedure is to turn the truck accessory on (but you should really just fire it up) then within a few seconds you hit the driver map light then the passenger map light 4x then the driver light again then you hit the moonroof close button. If it’s already closed you let go, then hit the CLOSE button again and hold it. In about 10-15 secs it’ll start to open everything. Keep holding the button for a really long time until everything opens. Then let go. Prepare your arm because then you hold the CLOSE button again until everything closes. When it’s all closed up again, you’re done. The first time I tried it, I thought it didn’t work because it’s a really long time you need to hold the close button for anything to start happening. Also I used caps on that because it’s counter-intuitive. To open and close everything in this procedure, you just hold the close button.
    Temporarily, you can also push up on the locked window a little bit, but that’s not a great solution. I was so happy when it worked for me. Plus it was free!

    The way they shoot the sealer at the bottom is supposed to allow the water to run out in the corners.
    You’ll probably only experience it when it rains. But water is supposed to be able to run out freely when it gets past the rubber seals. It’s easy for it to happen if it’s a new person training in the area and covers the holes up, or like y’all said it’s clogged up.

    Happens with any car. My Silverado did it. Clear out the drains and worked fine then. I haven't had the issue with my f250 yet.

    I have had the panoramic sunroof track replaced 3 times on my 17 f150.. I they are a super huge problem and the track and gears are made of plastic.. if its cracking and popping its not sealing right anymore.. My warranty has paid for them it each time but its a big expensive job.. its about 3500 bucks warranty cost.. I refuse to even open mine anymore because its been such a pita..

    Has the same issue with my Ford Edge, the cleaned the track and greased it. Gave it back to me and got stuck open, took it back 3 times didn’t get fixed. Never opened the sunroof after that. Water gets into the taillights that’s got fixed had the same problem, said forget it and sold that junk.

      Had the same on my Ford Edge, simple solution is to lubricate the panoramic roof rails with Wd40 or a silicone lubricant job sorted👍👍

      I would honestly stop using it if its acting up, I’m on a lot of forums and have had it personally happen to me when one side gets jammed and the other doesnt, and it gets cocked sideways and it will actually shatter the glass on top of you. It’s a terrible and cheap system, best bet is to just not use it...

    I've had both issues with my 2016 F150. Once in a while I'll be driving when I turn or stop. I hear water sloshing in my rear passenger door. I have to unclog the seep or drain hole at the bottom so the water can drain out. The moon roof is notorious for the plastic tracks breaking. I had the loud sounds and the roof struggled to retract. Then one day a real loud bang occurred and my roof would slide back! Long story short you most likely need the tracks replaced. Do it anyway because once out of warranty they cost $1500.00 parts and labor!

    It's the little doorsill drainage plastic plugs getting clogged by debris or something. I had the same thing with my Mustang. I took out those little plastic tabs, cleaned out the gunk inside the door and let the water drain out the front and back of the door and left them out. I haven't had the problem since. The water gets there from the rain or washing your truck.

    The sunroof thing is a known problem on the dual-pane Ford F150/Expedition system. The guides are typically the problem.

    Water seeping in through the side window where it slips down as you roll the windows down can do that. Weep hole clogged at back end of door and you tend to park slightly uphill so it doesn't drain out the front. The hole in front is draining when you step on the brakes or park downhill.

    My truck did the exact same thing. Water with debris gets down past the window dew wiper and settles in the bottom of the door. I was pulling out pine needles sticking out of my drains.

    Had the same issue with my 2014 F-150 with the water in the door. But had an anti rust coating spray underneath done where they sprayed a black rubber under the truck but also put a vaseline like jell in those holes and it plugged it up. That was their excuse to as why there was water in the door. I don’t like the thought of my steel door filled with water. At least yours is aluminum.

    Very common issue. General dirt build up clogs the weep holes that normally should drain as rain water goes through the door. I believe some doors clog easier than others. Keep a poker in the glove box.

    There is ferrous metal components in the door ie window parts. Have you ever lubricated the sun roof mechanism with lithium grease? Probably not. My bet water is going into the door from the drivers glass.

  • @Co1eTrain84

    The door water is from the upper seals on the outside of door where the glass hits the door on the bottom of the glass. some trucks are notorious for it
