I'm here today with another fairy for my mom's collection - The Snow Fairy!
I based her design on a typical snowman and I think she turned out pretty cute.
She was also a lot of fun to make.
Who doesn't like playing in a snow and building snowmen, right?! :D
I hope you will enjoy her process and like the final result as much as I do.

As a person of color, I can say I quite enjoy seeing dolls that show some diversity in both body size and hair styles. May or may not have been the original intent but I love it!
The design wasn't really about depicting woman of any particular skin color but I know what you're talking about! :) And I'm very happy that it makes you, maybe, see a little bit of yourself in those fantasy creature :) We are all magical, just as those fairies! :D

Those OMG dolls have no business being that thicc and curvy 😂 but it still looks incredible! I really like how you manage to take two very different dolls and combine them to make something very unique and original. Another great fairy 👍
Your unique hairstyles are what made me know my mom would love your work- she always looks for the pumpkin with the curliest stem when we go pick out pumpkins. And the one on the bee fairy blows my mind just thinking about it, it's SO CUTE! I totally get what you mean about a cohesive set, too- don't let any hair dissenters get you down. You know your style and your mother's taste better than anyone else!

She came out beautifully! I was clapping with your "I 👏 don't 👏 care 👏" lol. Yes ma'am! It's your art and your vision. You do what you like. Curly hair is beautiful and takes so much work to do with that tiny antenna. It's lovely and comes out stunning every time!

Just as cool as always. I really love how you basically turn your dolls into figurines, not only that you give your dolls different body shapes which I don’t see often at all in customization so that’s always fun to watch

You know I always find it a little... funny (as in strange and weird) that people keep trying to tell an artist how to do their art. Unless its a commissioned piece where the artist is PAID to work off someone else's design concept, people can just keep their concept design preferences to themselves unless the artist specifically asks for input. I love the work that you do, it is very inspiring and makes me want to sculpt more and more.
We all have our own preferences and our own aesthetics... I think that the problem is that those who are just looking at art, not creating themselves, sometimes can't look above those things to see a bigger picture, like what was the purpose, the overall design etc. I'm not mad that some people don't like the artistic choices that I made. I just want them to know why I will be making the same choices in the future, even if I know that they won't like them :) Of course I'm also very happy that most people understand and like my designs ^_^
Your designs are honestly a breath of fresh air amongst doll makers who create the same Caucasian/ straight hair/ skinny dolls over and over. Nothing wrong with that, but it’s warming to see original creations that reminds us of all shapes, sizes, colors and textures that human beings come in!
I love her icy wings. Her afro reminds me of a snowball. I love how you don't stick to one type of hairstyle. It's one of the things I love most about your dolls.
I imagine said child who created this sculpture recreation using tiny little stones to try and get all the details of the faerie's beauty with freckles and marks and it makes the concept so much more adorable 🥺

I have a winter suggestion: A doll named “Frostbit” (not Frostbite) with a hypothermia looking skin, sunken eyes, other aspects of hypothermia, and some blocks around her body that look like ice (you can use these to cover her shame) and the stand could be really deep snow

I'm so happy that you addressed the hair part, my little sister and most of my family have afro like hair and they've always been criticized for it, in my sister's school they make her tie up her hair because "it wasn't appropriate" and that she should "get rid of it because she looked bad" , I hope more people normalize afro and curly hair because it's gorgeous and awesome, this doll is a perfect example.
But like.... whaaaat?! I have a naturally straight hair and I think that curly hair are just amazing! I wish my kids could have hair like that! Your family is blessed and don't let anyone tell them different!
@@CatmeleonStudio Thank you , I wish everyone else thinks like that, I can't even count how many times my sister was insulted for it, even when my country has a lot of African culture and genetics, the people that have them are discriminated against daily, hopefully one day more people can appreciate our differences, your art is a way to show that, all of the love and support from Colombia. Keep it up, you're my inspiration when I feel like my art isn't good, you make me want to improve everyday.

I love the hairstyle choice! An afro is perfect for that snowball shape plus the texture of naturally curly hair compliments the smoothness of the rest of her body wonderfully!

I love that you make your dolls into figurines, it let you make them more life-like and dynamic with their poses and your stands always match perfectly! I imagine they all look amazing lined up on a shelf together

I love the curly hair. The tight curls remind me of black natural hairstyles, which you don't see enough on dolls.
a thin styled winter fairy could be icecicles, or you could go more literal on the Christmas theme and make a Christmas tree fairy

As a short haired woman myself, I really like short hair on dolls to. Simply because we are not the same, so the dolls are different too. I am glad that you are so determined to defend your concepts,that is why you are so original.Also ,as a curvy girl myself, I really enjoyed this project 😁

Super cute. I really love the story you associated with this. It makes it feel more alive. Another version of your story is that these fairies saw the snow sculptures made by children and started to adorn themselves to look like it because they loved it so much. ☺️
I also really love that her wings are tilted downward, it's a small design detail but it really helps the piece look rather delicate!

I am a stubborn dumass :P It is always easier for me to stick to my original idea than agreeing with someones different opinion :P It is important to learn when listening to someone is a good thing for our art (for example my sister suggesting a thicker body for my bee than MH was something that I'm glad I listened to) and when it is not (like lack of the pumpkin hairstyle on my Pumpkin Fairy).
@@CatmeleonStudio That's the whole idea when it comes to personal art, if you adapted to every conflicting opinion then it wouldn't be a reflection of you and your vision! It's respectable that you are confident enough in your own ideas that you know when to stick to them, and it's produced some totally awesome dolls XD

Seeing your snow fairy made me think of this funny and strange incident that had happened many years ago during the winter season. My mom's frontal window in her van had cracked one night from the cold (wish I wasn't serious) and literally was just this curve crack from bottom to top that my mom joked that a pixie was ice skating on it. Even my uncle who repaired glass for as long as I could remember (I'm 24) and perhaps longer had said that was the first time he saw glass crack like that and thought it was funny.

Why do people hate to round poofy hair. I for one love it, most dolls I see in the doll customization community are all long straight hair. I like that you don't follow that and I really love how it turns out!
They probably don't like the tight curls on dolls because the same hair type is looked down upon in real life🤷🏽♀️ Art imitates life after all

Here's a possibly interesting concept for a future fairy design, is what if the fairy had moth or butterfly like wings that they wear drapped over their body? Kinda like a cloak.

The doll looks amazing! Short, curly hair really match concept of snowman, but there was moment, where hairs was long, curly and literaly spread everyvere (it gave little bit of creepy vibe). It would be interesting to see Ice Witch with such hairstail as counterpart to creepy-and-cute snow fairy.
Maybe one day I will make a winter witch... who knows :)

As someone with short and extremely curly hair (basically what she makes with the dolls) I love that she makes the dolls with that hair. I feel represented.

I have a little "trick" when it comes to doing the curls. If you clamp down your hair straightener with a hair elastic, you are able to place your metal rod in it while you grab ur next section of hair then place it back in after every curl. That way ur not wasting any time heating up ur rod after every curl,it keeps it hot for you. Just found it helpful for myself so thought I would share!!!!
