The Centaur - look at my horse! OOAK Monster High repaint

  • Hi there!
Another year and another doll figurine made for my sister's birthday!
When she was a child she just loved horse riding and her favorite horses were always the palomino ones.
So I made her a palomino centaur!
It was also a perfect opportunity to practice my sculpting skills.
Hope you will enjoy this video as much as I enjoyed making this girl.
    Have fun watching!
    My awesome intro made by:
    martaasroka.myportfolio.com
The horse sculpture I used as a reference:
    one-horse.net/ks/landing-jumper/
    Music:
    Dangerous Toys by SefChol

This turned out amazingly well! The sculpted horse body was totally the way to go. I think you should do more centaurs. Maybe with a deer body instead to match how slender the Monster High bodies are? I'm also looking forward to more of your fairies. : 3

Each time I see you customize dark skinned dolls I’m always so inspired and happy with the colour variation you add to the skin. So many artists make darker skin look dull but you always add colour variation in all the right places. You’ve come a long way with your customizations!

That is so awesome to hear! In Poland we don't have many really dark skinned people, so I am seeing them mostly on TV. So I am very happy to hear that I can do a justice to those pretty skin tones ^_^

I started watching you after getting addicted to Dollightful and I was instantly taken with how differently you approach things vs how she does it. Your work is very different -posed vs articulated, the faceups are done differently, techniques are different, different media etc. But you both tell a story with your work and it's all art. I love what you do and how much detail goes into your art. I hope some day you can stop being so hard on yourself and your talents because you are amazing!

The carnage! Decapitation, removal of legs and an arm, ( a boob job!) the agony and ecstasy of getting the sculpted horse armature hind to connect, this was a full epic drama! Watching everything come together was emotional and because it was for your sister, a labour of love. There's no way she doesn't love this as much as we do. There's nothing wrong with your sculpting, in my humble opinion, it's bloody marvellous 😀 Best birthday gift ever.

She came out so amazing! I love the dynamic pose and the war paint, she looks like a Celtic warrior princess. According to the Romans, the Celtic warrior women were fearless, and went into battle bare-chested to intimidate men. Hard to say how much of that is true, and how much is Roman propaganda, but it makes for a very powerful and dramatic image.

Not only more creative, she manages to find more and more detailed with each new piece as well! It's truly astounding! I love that she reroots the hair. Everyone else just makes a wig. Wigs are not any easier and they don't save time. I don't understand why anyone wouldn't just go the reroot route.

Oh, my, she turned out so beautiful. I love her war paint and for your very first time, I think the horse body turned out pretty dang accurate. The only thing I would've done differently is placing her tail behind her similar to her hair, instead of in-between her legs, since it covers the right back leg a little, but that's just a personal preference of mine. I'm sure your sister will love her birthday gift 💕🎂🎁
Also, I just love those little unrelated clips you always put in the end! I always stick around to see them ^^

    • @CatmeleonStudio
      @CatmeleonStudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you :)
The placement of the tail I based on an idea that she is about to land on her four legs and stopped to freely trow the spear (I thought it could be hard to take a good swing while galloping and looking backward :P). And even if her movement is suddenly stopping - just like in a car when you pull on the breaks - her hair and tail are still moving forward. That was the idea :P But as I said - I was experimenting a little :P

I have seen the others done from the ready made centaurs in these dolls ,but they do not look as proportional as yours does. This is so beautifully sculpted right down to the hooves.I love the choice of hair, much nicer than the first choice. But what I think I love the most about your dolls is that they are more of a figurine rather than just a doll . They are all very special and a beautiful piece of art work too.🥰

seriously impressive that you sculpted almost a whole horse body despite not being an experienced/confident sculptor. i love that the horse part and human body part is the same color too, and the contrast it makes to her white crimped hair. the addition of white body paint was very clever as it made the character more visually interesting and hints at a potential backstory. an amazing piece of art, as always!

Wow I feel like your last mermaid was just a last month. I’ve been a fan since your 4th video and I’ve loved seeing you be successful with TH-cam, learning about dolls and art and making so many beautiful dolls along the way! Please don’t change ❤️

As a 60 year old man who has been a nuclear certified welder for the last 40+ years, l find your work fascinating. I can appreciate fine workmanship in anything and you my dear are very good! I have seen others but they don't come close to you. If l had a daughter l would comission a piece of your work for her. You are very talented and are correct in your moral code about your intellectual and artistic properties.

I actually love how she came out. You don't see Centaurs with the same color human part as the Centaur body quite often. She's definitely one of my favorite Centaur Repaints alongside Dollightful's and my second favorite from your channel after "The Dark Valentine". The others I liked were "The Bait" and "Two Sides of the Mirror". 🥰

Ah yes, the classic artist "Let me just do whatever's the hardest thing to do." mindset, lol. Gotta love it!

Your sister is so lucky! I would be *thrilled* to recieve some of your fantastic art! I love you, your doll art, and your videos!
I don't mind that you don't go into detailed steps because I'm watching to admire your work and skill, not to recreate it. I watch to see the thoughts and process behind how you make such beautiful, detailed dolls/art pieces.
Free the nipple! Free those bazoongas!
Great work on sculpting the body of your centaur and great choice of pose, with her jumping and throwing a spear. I love the movement it seems to have. The resin "puddles" and "splashes" on the base looked so cool and the paint and moss make it look so real.
I could go on but I'll stop there. I know your subscriber count will grow as more people stumble across your awesome videos.
Thank you for posting your amazing art, Marzena! I look forward to your next video!

Thank you so much ^_^ I promise - there will be waaaaaay more :) My imagination is wilder than my dolls :P
And yeah.... nipples were taken hostage by social media and by TH-cam :( No anatomically correct boobie can feel save!

You say your sculpting skill is what limits you the most, but sculpting a successful horse isn't just progress, it may as well be mastery. Horses are incredibly difficult to get right, even when you're just drawing them, and I'd say you knocked this one out of the park. Fabulous job!
Also... "I gave her a boob job..." I was dying at your delivery of that statement.

I really like that she's a uniform color. It makes her resemble the origin stories about this mythological creature more closely.

As long as your willing to let your work go. And your charge realistically not only for your supplies but your time and effort you put into each lovely piece of art, then you, you can live off your art work!
I used to live off my art before my disability stole my ability.

Wow, I have been in this channel for a while now and I really don't get tired of your style, your crazy techniques and bravery when tackling your proyects. It takes guts not to take the easy routes and it's great to see you take every opportunity you have to learn something new! Hats off to you, mad lass! Regarding sculpting, this was a very good first try! Next time you can have an additional reference with the muscles of the creature you're trying to sculpt, it is easier to capture the subtle natural bumps in a body when you know where they come from. I look forward to the 100k subs video! Let's go!

I loved the edges that you added to the dolls face, it really made her hair blend in a lot smother, and even though she had all those annoying little bumps I really do feel like the face mold was perfect for this!
    Amazing job as always!!
