    I graduated with my finance degree in May and I don’t regret it but a lot of the concepts I learned are catered to Asset management/ IB / Private equity but ig I found out I don’t want to go in either of these industries so kinda find a lot of what I learned useless. I don’t regret my major but if I could do it over I’d rather get an accounting degree!

I mean I'm in my 3rd year and next year I have to choose a major, I love marketing and I was confirmed that I will major in it but recently they changed the courses and all the useful courses are removed lol now they are offering almost useless marketing courses. Now I'm thinking about finance BUT I know I will hate my job, idk what to do.

    Hi! Going into finance, starting my freshman year in under 3 weeks. I struggle with math a lot, but I never failed any courses in high school despite that. I got around a C- in precalc (68% as we don’t use letter grades where I live), do you think I can still be successful in this major? I’m a super dedicated student so my math issues are something deeper than slacking off, and besides math I am an A student.

    Math has been the main subject that i’ve been talented in all my life, and finance seems to be the major that involves math and gets paid high. I honestly have no idea about finance, which is why i’m watching your videos. If i’m good with numbers, do you think finance is the right major for me? It’s hard to find a high paying career with math, so finance seems to be my way to go. Any thoughts? I’m going to be a senior next year and i’m going to start applying to colleges around the end of summer. So after you explain your thoughts, can you also recommend me some universities that are very good for finance? Thanks!

    • @aaron_yao
      @aaron_yao  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Finance definitely involves math but some parts of finance require more math than others. The part of finance that involves math and statistics the most is quantitative trading, which also happens to be one of the highest paying areas of finance. UChicago is considered one of the best schools for quantitative finance, spawning multiple Nobel prize winning graduates. Best of luck on your journey and lmk if you have any more questions!

      I’d say accounting is only necessary if you’re looking to be an accountant, otherwise you’ll learn basic accounting as part of the finance curriculum and a finance degree would be better paired with something like comp sci, stats, or math, if you’re thinking about doing a double major.
