Hi Ric another fantastic video👍... When I do take delivery of my SAS I'll be happy when it comes to need new pads that I can now do it myself thanks to your vid, great little money saver 👍👍
Good morning Ash! Thanks for that mate.. it’s great to hear is if help. Yes little jobs like this alone will save a fair few notes. Particularly as the pads are so dam expensive too. 👍 Cheers again Ric
Hi Ric, just wanted to say thanks for these videos. The best set I have found for any of the bikes I have had. I was due to pick my bike up Saturday but delayed by the recall for a few weeks. 😭. Meanwhile I will just have to be content and watch you have fun on yours. So far I have ordered the pegs, rad guards and headlight protector. Cheers buddy, keep them coming. Mac.
Hi Paul! No problem and always a pleasure. Thanks for the support always welcome! And sorry to hear about the bike delay. Thats always painful. The best things come to those who wait as they say haha. Good stuff on the accessories too. :) Cheers Ric
Hi Ric, My recommendations 😉 I am using a threadlocker for screws of the caliper and also a mark to check afterwards if it's not unclenched. Just to ensure the safery.
Hiy Austro! Yes my friend you can use that too if you wish to be extra careful. I have the blue threadlocker but I am ok without it in this instance. And there is no mention of requiring it in the official workshop manual. You will find very mixed opinions on the internet of using threadlocker on calipers. It comes down to what you feel comfortable with. Some people will put on threadlocker and some will put on threadlocker and lockwire lol... But no harm in being extra safe! Just dont put too much on....or the wrong strength... or it will be a right job getting them out again lol... But defintately good to put a marker of some nature to show if its turning.👍 Cheers again for the helpful tip! Always welcomed. 🙏 Thanks🤝 Ric

Hi Ric Rode all day today. Thrashed it in the dry spells. Rode through some really heavy downpours. Soon see if the switch holds out. Big clean tomorrow. The bike is hanging! I've been playing around and getting the my ride app and my cardo working. I've downloaded an app 'turn by turn navigation for ktm' (free on the play store). Brilliant you can just use Google maps and get directions on the bike screen.
Hey James! Yeah hope the switch holds out. Sure it will this time round. And I have the cardo and the app which works a treat. What app is that free one? Thanks Ric
@@RicardoYeep it's called 'turn by turn navigation for ktm'. You set your route with Google maps and then open the app and it on the bike screen. You don't need to pay for the KTM navigation app
Ah yes I know of this come to think of it. Nuno mentioned it on the "My Ride" vid that I did. he said he used it for android. I havent checked it out on the Appstore yet. I totally forgot about this. Not sure there is one yet on the Apple store but will check it out.
@@RicardoYeep only bummer with my ride app is you can't make outgoing calls from the bike. I rode with my mate on his multistrada and he was calling me whilst riding.
Hi Ric Squirted lots of acf50 in the new switch hopefully this one lasts. Got my first service on Friday morning so looking forward to opening the bike up after.
Ah James fantastic news! Yeah had a look at mine today. Am out with a mate for a run tomorrow so will need a good clean after. I’ll do mine too then 👍.. and enjoy the bike once first service is done. That’s what it’s all about 💪
No worries mate! And yeah for real I nearly passed out when he said approx £180 a set of pads. Although I’d be interested to know how the impact of ebc sintered would be on the discs.. hopefully not wear the discs out quicker. We shall see 👍
That I do know 😂… you know what I mean. Whether it was premature deterioration or not. I mean sintered are definitely more abrasive but possibly not much in it 👍
Merci Ric
Ditch those pins (soon to be rusty) and replace them with titanium ones - my previous pins corroded where the pad contacts them and caused the pads to stick
Hi there, strongly recommend the use of a torque wrench. Also know, after disassembling the calipers, position will slightly alter. Just make the bolts hand-tight, brake and whilst braking you bring the bolts to the recommended torque using a torque wrench. Just my two cents … Btw, no need to remove calipers to change front tire, just rotate each fork to the outside an all of a sudden the front wheel can be easily removed
Hello Heinz! Thanks for the comment and positive tips. Yeah I never got round to round to getting a torque wrench. Only have one for the spindle nuts. I keep meaning to get on. I’ve done without for years though. I’ll treat myself maybe this weekend 👍 Also I’ll try your tip on rotating the fork (bottoms) all these years I’ve never thought about doing that. Cheers! That’s what I love about this. It’s a two way street and welcome any constructive tips👍 I just have managed all these years without one. And any bike garage I’ve gone to over the years hasn’t gone and fetched the torque wrench and manual to see the specific torque for any bolt even though ideally they should.. but is definitely recommend good practice though and will make a note in future on the videos for those wanting to know the torques 👍 Thanks again Ric! 🤝
Yes Too am a big fan of torque bolts correct i have 3 t w right down to the wee nuts. Its important else you over stress the threds just by saying its doge dup LOL Come on Rick get them bloody stickers of ya new bikes tank lol
Good morning Pakonan. My bike has only about 4,000km. I am doing it as an exercise mainly in understanding my new KTM. I always get to know my new vehicles by carrying out as much maintenance early on. So when I need to know I already have the knowledge and know how long it will take, cost of all parts and where best to acquire them. This exercise is not based on Need. I hope that helps 🤝 Also from my processes on my new vehicle I have learnt a lot. Front wheels not balanced Rear wheels not balanced Rear wheel possibly not aligned as good as could be. Chain dangerously over tight Hand guards completely un symmetrical affecting aerodynamic Oil used after 1st service was not KTM office Motorex Overall a lot of people with a brand new bike just take home from the dealer and ride it and wash it. And just take it back to the dealer at the next service interval. If I did that then I would not have possibly picked up all of this so soon on my bike. So For me it’s about knowing my bike which it is financially a massive investment. Nobody else cares about even the dealer once they sold it 👍 Hope that helps with understanding why I do this so soon 👍 Cheers Ric
And yeah mate got them on order. I have made do just fine without them all the yers but to be fair as I’m doing “how to” vids I really should show torques 👍

Sounds good mate. I’ve ran sintered before but on previous bikes. And I’ve replaced discs. Although never nailed it to expected wear or due to pads.
