Had a water leak on my 22 1290S, this video was fantastic in helping me to strip the bike down , found the leak ,it was just a hose clip, now I have the confidence in mounting electrics as well - thanks

Very helpful and detailed explanation. I’ve stripped and maintained my 2019 SAS but I have to say I wasn’t looking forward to pulling this one apart but you gave me all the info I needed to make whipping the tank off nice and easy. Thank you.

Thank you so much Steve for this video. 100% happier having seen this walk through of the process! I’d add that the 1290 SAS manual in PDF format is available from the KTM website - useful for confirming any torque settings during reassembly. Thanks again for a great video 👍🏻

I own a '22 SAS and I had my dealer do the initial wiring of my Garmin and aux lights as I was unsure of the tear down process and didn't want to cock up my new bike. After watching your video, I'll be more apt to do the work myself in the future. Thanks for another excellent presentation!

What a brilliant video, thank you so much! I just got myself a 1290 S with a coolant leak, likely from the hose at the water-pump located behind the tank. Dreaded taking the tank of to access it to it but thank to this vid I don't anymore! 😊

That is crazy how much work it takes to remove the tank. Looks time consuming. I glad you created this video... That will help when the time comes to replace the air filter and spark plugs.

    Hello
What is this hose that is plugged with a metal screw on 19:55 "the one pointing down"?
I thought it was the fuel tank gas release, but I'm probably wrong.
My bike is often showings pressure on the tank when I open the cup, so i though that this hose closed was the issue...

Great video thanks very much much - I gotta say I hate all the complicated plastic panels with literally 100s of screws - especially hate seeing Phillips self tapping screws on any plastics - I’d love to see an adventure bike with simple plastics like what you see on a motocross bike - all holes should have a metal collared bushing - all we need is side radiator panels, radiator guards, a fairing and a screen - that’s it! Basically a Dakar bike approach - only what’s needed 😊

Great! Now I understand why I had to pay 100€ for the installation of the satnav cable :-o It's kinda genius how everything fits, yet a little complex if don't do it often. Changing the spark plugs will cost me a little fortune. I'm glad they last very long.

If Triumph were quicker off the mark, I would be riding a 1200 Tiger GT Pro Explorer. Not waiting until they get these in the showrooms, I bought a new KTM 1290 Super adventure S. Just back from Europe and this bike is awesome. (From an ex BMW R1200 GSA)

I have a 2019, KTM 1290SAR, I removed the tank last year to install a Garmin Zumo to the EZCAN.
I have just put my bike in to a KTM Dealership to install 2 pairs of D3 and dial dim...they just sent pics of the job...its awful. They routed the light wiring from the D3s around the upper and lower crash bars held in place by elastic type fasteners! Terrible job. I told them why didn't you place wiring under the tank along the frame and they said it's not possible, I called BS this story is still ongoing!

What planet are KTM on. This ia so complex just to take a tank off to route some cables!!!!
I have the 2016 KTM SA, The tank take off to fit my Garmin SatNav to the bike. I was looking to change this year, but I think I will just stick with this 'Brilliant' first and last KTM. If you can pick yourself up a £8k low miles, one owner 2016 model... go for it. You won't regret it. But the new ones are way too complex, than a bike needs to be. And don't get me started on Software purchase packs after so many miles. Rant over.
    Old Honda VFR next bike.
