I do this but cut tators in halve and scoop out the tators from the halves leaving just a little layer of tator and then brush them with olive oil or butter and put back in oven to crisp up for the best tator skins. Top them with cheese and let that melt back on oven and then salt, a little sour cream and chives and the best snack or side or football treat. Tator skins are to die for. Then you get your loaded mashed tators and a tator skin treat. You can use those half shells and fill with the tator filling and freeze or bake top with cheese for twice baked tators. I try to always have some of those in freezer for a quick easy side. YUM make any of these with the burnt end hotdogs or barbecue chicken and your set.
