The "No guns" thing might have been a stipulation of the license, perhaps Universal has a contractual requirement that any license for "kids toys" cannot have guns? That said, someone needs to make some nickel plated Mini-14's... for science.
... vase in point, the Snake-Eyes Classified only comes with realistic guns like his iconic Uzi in the Deluxe Sets, the other store shelf versions only come with lame looking lasers.
I didn't know about the Playmobile Knight Rider one until your video dropped and I ran out and got one at Barnes and Noble, can't find them anywhere else, and I love my 80's TV shows especially Knight Rider, I even owned at least 4 80's Firebirds in my lifetime. love these videos Michael, I always tune in.
These Playmobil toys have been the most rewarding toys that have come out over the last few years. I am anxiously awaiting for the General Lee, Airwolf, and especially a Herbie. I couldn’t wait, so I customized a Blue Beetle into a Herbie. I could not be happier with their VW line.
Although I'm not a huge fan of Playmobil, I do remember it from childhood fondly. I have to say that I have been blown away by the sets reviewed on this channel thus far! There is a real love and attention to detail in them. It makes me sad that big multi-billion dollar companies, who shall remain nameless (*Cough* Hasbro!) can no longer seem to get their SH*T together and turn out products we'd be proud to plunk down money on and collect!
As a huge TAT fan, it's nice to see some new product! This show, unlike nearly ALL 80's properties, just has no traction culturally any more. Most have been milked, rehashed, rebooted, etc. This one just can't in this climate. Guns, smoking, clearly defined good guys beating the bad guys, Face getting the girl at the end...nothing "dark"...just fun. None of that flies anymore in Hollywood culture.
I just recently picked up the back to the future Delorian set at a fantastic price. The others you mentioned are on my list to buy. Thank you for reviewing these. i grew up with Playmobile, but sadly it is often forgotten.
If you'd have asked 10-year-old me if I wanted to collect Playmobil toys then it would've been a BIG no. After watching your Knight Rider review I started to warm to the idea and I am so happy to have jumped down the rabbit hole. I've now got most of the Back to the future sets (just waiting for the pickup truck) and advent calenders as well. Next up I'm trying to choose between the A-Team set and the Ghostbusters sets (who am I kidding,I'm eventually going to get both) . Hopefully, we'll see an Airwolf and possibly a Dukes of Hazzard set to complete the 80's nostalgia vibes.
The handles on each sides of the seats are what secure them in place once you click the hands on them. The van was first released as the Mystery Machine, then a spy/crooks van with radar dish, an adventure van then finally in all it's glory as the A-Team van. James Bond didn't have a gun either. I don't know why.
If you put a little more thought into it then you realize that a 5th seat in the van actually makes sense. For the majority of the show the A-Team was just the four guys. Also for the majority of the show they would deal with solitary clients so a 5th seat for a client is reasonable. Just grab a generic Playmobil figure and you've got a client. Selling the set with just four figures keeps the price down. At any point in the future Playmobil can put together an A-Team expansion pack with Amy Allen, Tawnia Baker, Frankie Santana, Gen. Hunt Stockwell, Col. Decker or whatever extra character they like to enhance the play-value. This way extras are left up to the consumer. Great video, Michael.
If you put a little more thought into it, you'd have heard me say why I find it weird because I prefer Amy Allen. Try not being condescending next time.
Great review of a great set. I was glad to get this set last year and keep it on a shelf with Playmobil's Ecto-1, Ecot-1A and Firehouse. The van shell was also used on the Playmobil Scooby Doo Mystery Machine a couple of years earlier (Same style "GMC/Chevy" van body with a different roof panel, body color and no hub caps) and the seating and interior are the same as well. The rear does not have seat belts, as you said, but I did notice that rear seats do have "handles" that seated figures can hold on to. It's not ideal by any means, but it helps with figures sliding around a bit. Keep up the great work Michael
I love these licenced figures from Playmobil but I'm putting my money into their Asterix the Gaul line. Series 2 is due out this summer and if the line continues I'll have the full village and a Roman army before too long!
The playmobile mystery machine seems to be a similar van as well probably used the same mold? Great video Michael playmobile toys are awesome, I'm hoping they do an Airwolf!
Playmobil have certainly knocked it out of the park with these sets. I know it's a stretch but Colonel Decker in his Plymouth Fury would set it off altogether!
The BTTF set got that extra set that included the "mr fusion" for the delorian, so i wonder if maybe there will be an add-on set with Amy and more guns/tools?
The toys aren't my style, but I love that the show got the love it deserved with this set. I have the original Galoob figures from the original run and that'll do me just fine, but these sets just keep showing love of actual interactive PLAY that so many figure sets even for adults seem to lack. I mean between the props and the open nature of the van, this would have been a dream set as a kid.
Playmobil was pretty popular when I was a kid. The sets were rugged and nearly always went straight back into their box when you were finished, and if you were a kid who liked some specific thing on a racetrack or building site or whatever, Playmobil almost certainly made it. The '80s train sets were incredible.
Great video and what a great line to end it on! RIP John Ashley who did the original opening narration of The A-Team that you parodied partially. He died in 1997 of a heart attack! So sad! He was just 62!
Not sure how you define _real member,_ but Amy participated in several undercover operations, her life was put at risk during different assignments, and she helped rescue clients as well as other members of the A-Team. So, while she may not have served alongside the other members of the Team during the war, the writers certainly treated her as a member of the team. So much so, that she was included in the 6 inch toy line (and it's not like companies were chomping at the bit to include female characters in toy lines).
@@timothyward8695 I'd say someone who was part of the original team in ''da nam'' and has military training. Not just a bit of totty they let tag along till they got tired of her blithering on.
Nice. Another cool work by Play Mobil. And I can't help kinda feeling like we now have a Banacek and Clubber Lang finally in the Play Mobil universe. Heck toss in a sorta, almost Starbuck too while we're at it.
Yeah, as people have said, this uses the same mould for the Scooby Doo Mystery Machine. But with alternate tyres, a different roof top piece, and the inclusion of the front guard. One thing to say about that set. You’d have to buy the Scooby and Shaggy box set, in order to have the full cast to go with it.
Playmobil once again hits the mark. A little off with the omissions, but still they hit it. I wonder who joined the Playmobil company who loved pop culture and the 80's so much that they consistently outshine other companies?
Loved the video and odd about the guns, especially since if A-team toys do get guns, its almost never seen the primary ones they used in show the Ruger Mini-14F most toys just get standard other rifles. Happy Memorial Day mates and a great week.
