Happy TRYers are the best TRYers! All of you try so many things that are weird or disgusting, just to entertain us, so I'm happy I could send you something you like! I'm very happy you're in the video Clisare, I would have been sad as well if it didn't work out. Dermot, thank you for the kind words, I totally adore you! I didn't expect everyone to like every flavour, but I'm glad you liked most of them. You're all class! Much love to all!
Also, similar to seasoning french fries, it is best to season them while they are still giving off a little steam from cooking. Seasoning anything after it has cooled down requires the surface to have a little bit of moisture or it just falls off.
I think the gourmet popcorn stores actually tumble the popcorn with the powder in drums to distribute it evenly. And likely they mist with oil or butter to make it stick.
BTW, we DO have that at the cinema ! You can buy little packets of powder to add to your bag of popcorn, but we do it after having put some melted butter on the popcorn so the powder sticks to it 🙂 I'm Canadian if anyone was wondering lol !
As a Canadian and someone who loves popcorn, this was amazing. I honestly have a shelf of Kernels shakers in my house at all times. And even better, when you go to the mall, they have Kernels kiosks with like 12-15 flavours you can buy that are all perfectly coated with seasoning. Clearly TRY needs to come to Canada and overload on Kernels.
If you really want to kick it up a notch, this stuff is half salt so you can use it in place of salt in some baking if you're careful. I'll buy the bulk butter-flavoured seasoning and use it in cornbread to get more buttery flavour. Add some cayenne as well and it's even better.
It is beautiful too, I mean with the left-over seasoning - it's actually a pragmatic thing too. Readd them back to the main bowl afterwards & get a second kick, all packed in!
I'm a Canadian and I didn't know that we had THAT many different flavours. My favorite is Salt & Vinegar. Sprinkle some on hot microwave popcorn, shake to mix and your family movie night at home just got better. Love these popcorn seasonings! Glad that all of you have gotten to enjoy another slice of Canada.
I am so glad that I'm not the only one that eats the edges off my popcorn and has a second bowl for the middles so I can eat them after! I feel so weird doing it, but the middles are the best part and I want to savor them.
I was wondering how they'd pull this off. See Kernels is a kiosk in most malls. You can smell the popcorn throughout the mall and you CRAVE it. Didn't even realize they had flavour shakers for sale. Most of these are indicative of our chip/crisp flavours, whereas I more associate other flavours with Kernels. Especially as they're well known for their coated versions. Personally Chicago style is my go-to (1/2 cheese, 1/2 caramel coated). Glad you all enjoyed a taste of Canada, but TRY is far overdue for a fieldtrip to the Great White North. Perhaps even getting the chance to try the real-deal Kernels!
I’d like to believe that it was me sending you those Vachon cakes that really started off Try Channel’s influx of Canadian stuff! I might be wrong, but I don’t want to know if am. Nicely done Stacey! Finding Canadian stuff to send over can be challenging. Thanks eh!!
It's thanks to you I found the TRY Channel, the Vachon video came up in my suggested videos, and after that, I was hooked! It's still my favourite video, well, maybe the second after today ;)
Fellow Canadian long time viewer. Finding stuff that is uniquely Canadian AND can travel by post to Ireland is tough. I doubt they'll be getting seal or moose meat anytime soon!!!
@@tiacho2893 yeah I hear that! Although it would be cool getting some moose meat over to the Try channel, we can only hope that someday we start making moose meat jerky! *moose meat is bloody awful! And all my relatives are from NFLD!, I still hate it!….

@@WLNS75 I was down East and tried seal flipper pie because I like trying new things and would never get the chance again (once was enough). But yeah, all the broadly Canadian stuff's been covered. So only the hyper regional stuff is left. Kernels is in almost every mall around me. But I never thought of it as "Canadian" and worth the effort to send in.
I am soo happy you guys had the opportunity to TRY these flavours! My favourite is sour cream and onion or ranch. My kids love the white cheddar one. Cheers from Canada!!!
Traveled to Victoria a few times from Kingston, Ontario when I served in the military back in early 2000s. We did some jobs at the navy base in Esquimalt and stayed in a wonderful Hotel near the parliament bldg. Beautiful area.

I'm glad that Clare got to have a popcorn video at last, and she was glammin' like a rock star in this one! Love popcorn, and I'd love to try some of those flavors! Nice one, Try Channel!
Ever since a friend introduced it to me in high school when we walked to his house for lunch since his house was in a neighborhood right behind the school's football field, I've always loved putting the cheap grated parmesan from the green can/jar on popcorn. It's so good.
Garlic powder or garlic salt also works on popcorn, including in addition to parmesan. They used to have microwave sour cream and onion popcorn and it doesn't sound good on paper but was wildly delicious and addictive like the potato chips. (Much better than just adding dry sour cream and onion powder; I'm assuming it was flavored oil in the early types of microwave popcorn bags which required refrigeration.)
When my friends and I go to the movies we take our favorite popcorn spice and add to the our popcorn because they put butter on it the spice holds really well yummmmmmy 🇨🇦
We do have flavoured powder at the cinema! I don't think it's the same company. But there is usually sale and vinegar, cheddar, dill pickle... And maybe another 1 or 2.

As a Canadian that LOVES Jalapeño Jack. When you get the popcorn from Kernals it’s solid orange from the seasoning. So much better than just the light douse you had.
You need to add it to hot buttered popcorn for the seasonings to stick to the popcorn correctly. At restaurants here, we make Dill Pickle chicken wings...we just toss them with Kernels powder on them hot out the fryer. Fkng delish. A lot of cinemas here also keep these out for people to use on their popcorn. I always use the ketchup or dill pickle, no one complains lol

I work at a cinema where we offer a selection of seasonings to add to the popcorn. My two favorites are curry and za'atar. Maybe you could do another video featuring seasonings that you select to try on popcorn.
Just to blow their mind...in case someone hasn't already said so, our big theatres (megaplexes) do have little machines that you out your bag of popcorn into and hit the buttons to spray these exact products onto it! There's usually 3-4 flavors you can choose from at these machines. They're right up by the concession stand so you get your buttered popcorn and then add the seasonjngs while it's still nice and warm so it sticks to the kernals well.
I'm a Canadian that buys huge bags of plain chips (crisps) and rebags them in serving sizes, then pour in some of those very same popcorn seasonings and shake the storage bags for even coating. Also, on fried potatoes. Those Kernels seasoning powders are handy for any potato product - better than on popcorn.
Melt a bit of butter over the popcorn then you MUST mix dill pickle seasoning and white cheddar seasoning. At our wedding we had baskets of popcorn and tons of popcorn seasonings.
Dill pickle is my favourite 😊I have it in my kitchen and might go get some now lol. And they do have it in packets to buy at theatres here along with other flavours.
Not only Canadian but American as well. Thier shakers are in all the grocery stores. The butter flavor just tastes like salt though. Not buttery at all. I wish they had Caramel. I'd buy a case of that stuff.
At the Kernels store one of the flavors they regularly offer is "Cheesy Dill" which is where they put both white cheddar and the dill seasoning on. They mentioned the idea of putting it on popcorn at the movie theatre... out here (Vancouver area) they've had popcorn seasoning shakers at the movie theatres for about 25-30 years now.
Dill pickle is the best add a little cheddar to it brilliant! I loved watching how happy everyone was. As a Canadian I love when we can blow people's minds with our flavours and foods. Even Dermott was in a jolly mood!
A bunch of the cinemas here in Canada (at least Alberta,) actually have a few popcorn seasoning stations set up within them, at least one by concession, and then in larger theatres, maybe one partway down each hallway with multiple theatres in a row, often right next to drink machines.
In America, some of the really class theaters, sell little shakers of the American version of kernels. My favorite is getting my popcorn well coated with butter and then hitting it with salted carmel kettle corn seasoning. It's amazing!
HEY! I nom off the edges too! But eat the middle immediately after- perhaps dipping it in a sauce or powder before moving onto the next piece. No second bowl of corn middles. I do it to have more bits per kernel.
