What came to my mind when the wind started blowing at her was, "WOW! She's singin' up a storm!" And during those last 2 "I can't help..." phrases, I couldn't believe that THAT voice was coming out of THAT young girl! Phenomenal performance. Oh, and I recognized Alisa Mon, the Norway's Got Talent judge who, after Angelina Jordan's audition of "Gloomy Sunday", commented, "Did you hear that rasp? It sounded like the girl has been drinking whiskey since she was born!"
You have witnessed history in that Diana's singing style which produces a kind of 'ghost tone' that gives her a poly-phonic quality to her voice, has carried that tone across her transition point into her head voice. I've never heard any other singer do this. Diana has worked hard to make the strides in stretching her voice to include those high notes. I'm not sure if this particular performance should be THE introduction to her catalogue, but it is very impressive ofc. One of the best intelligent reviews in the past few weeks, yes I watch all of them, Diana is the greatest female voice on our planet, my addiction to Diana started 6 years ago when she won 'You Are Super' at age 14 in 2018, she has overshadowed all others that have come before, and has continued ever upward ever since.
Of course you have never heard another voice like that in your life because there is no other voice like that on the planet, Cher is also a Contralto like Diana (the lowest type of female voice like the male Bass) but Diana is a Dramatic Contralto, which is the deepest, darkest and most powerful of the Contraltos and on top of that she is Polyphonic and she has a 4 octave range, being just a Contralto is rare enough but all these vocal traits together never manifested on the same person before. This show is a vocal competition between already established artists. There are 9 contestants who also act as the judges (plus one extra guest judge for each of the 9 episodes of the show) when they not perform, in other words they perform and judge each other. Diana was 18 years old at the time (20 years old currently) and this was her very first vocal competition she participated in as an adult and she competed against already well established famous artist in Russia, needless to say that she dominated. Totally changing the feel of the song....making it sound dark as you say. Another example of this is You Are My Sunshine by The Dead South. They sing it in A minor which brings it to a darker sound which is what was intended with the original song. Not the happy dance kid's song it has become. Yes.. you caught that... she is polyphonic :) Diana.... is a special human being. Her life story will bring anyone to their knees... it actually place her in the right place where she found 'her voice'... literally too! She has been training her vocal instrument since she was about 4 years old, which started as therapy.... around 8 years old she was already in the hands of a professional vocal coach and started going on talent contests. At 14 she participated in a contest for under privilege children.... Igor Krutoy was one of the judges... he was so taken by her talent he wanted to take her under her wing... However, Diana due to her previous life story decided she preferred to go at a slower pace at her own time. She has a repertoir of incredible songs she has covered and all of them she has made her own. She also has some original songs that are as good. She has one song that can be easily missed, but shouldn't be missed... "Fly away on the wings of the wind".... it's a song part of a Russian Opera Prince Igor.

September 25, 2021. This was Diana Ankudinova the first performance on a new Russian vocal competition called the “ShowMaskGoOn!”. Diana’s opening cover. Each performer had to sing in a different genre each week. The people you see on the side are fellow performers (they rated themselves from 1-9 excluding themselves at the end of the day). Very nice reaction 🙂 Diana is one of my favorite female artists. I'm an AVID Angelina Jordan fan, but Diana is amazing in some of the same aspects as Angelina IMO. I'm not sure if this particular performance should be THE introduction to her catalogue, but it is very impressive ofc. MY favorite performances by her have almost exclusively come from the smaller, regional stages.

One of the best intelligent reviews in the past few weeks, yes I watch all of them, Diana is the greatest female voice on our planet, my addiction to Diana started 6 years ago when she won 'You Are Super' at age 14 in 2018, she has overshadowed all others that have come before, and has continued ever upward ever since.
Why do reactors compare singer's Diana has a unique voice. Cher does not even come close, she has her own sound. No one alive sounds like Diana.

Of course you have never heard another voice like that in your life because there is no other voice like that on the planet, Cher is also a Contralto like Diana (the lowest type of female voice like the male Bass) but Diana is a Dramatic Contralto, which is the deepest, darkest and most powerful of the Contraltos and on top of that she is Polyphonic and she has a 4 octave range, being just a Contralto is rare enough but all these vocal traits together never manifested on the same person before.
This show is a vocal competition between already established artists.
There are 9 contestants who also act as the judges (plus one extra guest judge for each of the 9 episodes of the show) when they not perform, in other words they perform and judge each other.
Diana was 18 years old at the time (20 years old currently) and this was her very first vocal competition she participated in as an adult and she competed against already well established famous artist in Russia, needless to say that she dominated.
Diana is easily the best female vocalist of our time, there is nothing she can not do and there are even things no one else can do but her, artists are afraid of her covering their songs because if you hear a song from her, there is no going back to the original anymore, she is "The queen of goosebumps", "The voice of mother Earth", "An Alien", "A Unicorn", "The voice of legends" she is Diana Ankudinova.

Totally changing the feel of the song....making it sound dark as you say. Another example of this is You Are My Sunshine by The Dead South. They sing it in A minor which brings it to a darker sound which is what was intended with the original song. Not the happy dance kid's song it has become. Dead South is a Canadian bluegrass band that is amazing. I've seen Diana's name around but just discovering her through this reaction. Thanks!

She’s only 18 years old at the time of this performance she is currently 20. Diana has an extremely rare voice type she is a dramatic contralto which is the deepest darkest lowest most powerful voice type for a female. She also has ability to seeing with polyphonic overtones and has a extremely rare tone That is unique to her.

Diana.... is a special human being. Her life story will bring anyone to their knees... it actually place her in the right place where she found 'her voice'... literally too!
She has been training her vocal instrument since she was about 4 years old, which started as therapy.... around 8 years old she was already in the hands of a professional vocal coach and started going on talent contests. At 14 she participated in a contest for under privilege children.... Igor Krutoy was one of the judges... he was so taken by her talent he wanted to take her under her wing... However, Diana due to her previous life story decided she preferred to go at a slower pace at her own time.
She has a repertoir of incredible songs she has covered and all of them she has made her own. She also has some original songs that are as good.
She has one song that can be easily missed, but shouldn't be missed... "Fly away on the wings of the wind".... it's a song part of a Russian Opera Prince Igor.

September 25, 2021. This was Diana Ankudinova the first performance on a new Russian vocal competition called the “ShowMaskGoOn!”. Diana’s opening cover. Each performer had to sing in a different genre each week. The people you see on the side are fellow performers (they rated themselves from 1-9 excluding themselves at the end of the day). Diana was easily the youngest and least established singer of the group. Diana is magical. She's 18 here (20 today).

Greetings from Scotland! Diana is 18yo here in this live performance in front of an audience. You analysed this very well, spotting some vocal abilities that others miss. She has a very very special voice, absolutely unique and one of a kind! The kind of depth and power that is palpable, physically affecting your body and mind! For me, it feels like a pressure on the centre of my chest and it disrupts my brain patterns. That sounds a bit dramatic, but I am not alone with this dramatic feeling when she sings! A natural Dramatic Contralto with a natural ability to create Polyphonic Overtones and sound like multiple voices from the one person. On top of this, Diana has the most charming personality that is totally disarming! Don't be fooled into thinking that the lower tones are all she has, because she has in excess of 4 octaves and it is increasing continually. At 20yo now (soon to be 21yo) she has branched into acting, writing songs and playing various musical instruments. That will also increase, because Diana loves to experiment vocally and she loves to surprise us and get surprises too!
