    i love the fact that you acknowledged that the iphone’s images and videos falls apart as soon as you take a closer look. most of the comparisons of these mirrorless cameras and iphones are just people comparing image thumbnails and painting a wrong picture of iphones being better.
    Also i think being on auto mode on a full frame camera and letting AI do the work is like an auto pilot on a supercar. you spend all that money to drive at below speed limit. but there is always the manual mode to take things in your own hand , which is a must if you get a dedicated camera.

      Also the color and shadow rendering is so unreal from smartphones, you can tell when a picture or video comes from an iPhone because of the orange faces or warm profile with no shadows. I mean they are not the only ones guilty of this but usually people don't point on that.

      ZV-E1 is a vlogging camera dude. vloggers don't like to use their smartphone a lot rather they prefer a dedicated video camera. E1 offers better video quality and better autofocus along with your choice of lenses. Only you would take out your phone to record now.

    • @KarlSainte
      @KarlSainte ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KarlSainte dude, you seriously have no idea about cameras and their types. Sony said the ZV-E1 is for vloggers. You don't need an EVF when you're vlogging with the camera. • @Qimchiy
      @Qimchiy ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You're basically comparing an A7iii (A7C) to an A7Siii (ZV-E1).
      One is a better hybrid and one is a way better video camera.

    • @volumefact
      @volumefact ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The big benefit of the ZV-E1 is that it has 10-bit 4:2:2 color instead of the A7C's 8-bit 4:2:0, so it holds up much better to color grading and isn't as prone to color banding. Also higher slow mo frame rates at 4k, better rolling shutter, better low light, and a few other processor based improvements (Becca didn't touch on the ZV-E1's lossless digital zoom which is pretty cool). Main pros to the A7c is that it's 300 cheaper, better at avoiding overheating, and i think the body may be metal but not positive

    • @RiceCubeTech
      @RiceCubeTech ปีที่แล้ว

      @@volumefactthe A7C also has a larger megapixel count which helps when it comes to strictly photos. I would never buy the ZV-E1 if I did just as many photos as I did videos.

    • @volumefact
      @volumefact ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RiceCubeTech yeah, good call-out. Plus the A7c has an (admittedly not great) viewfinder. I was mainly thinking of things from a video perspective, which is almost entirely what I use my A7c for.

    ZVE1 is a good camera, but as a vlogging camera, it fails. The primary feature of a vlogging camera is that it should be able to shoot stable videos even without a stabilizer because vlogging is all about shooting videos anytime and anywhere, and you can’t carry a stabilizer with you all the time. However, Sony’s anti-shake function is very poor. ZVE1’s anti-shake function is very unstable when shooting handheld walking videos. Active Stabilization requires large cropping and affects image quality. You must use an external stabilizer every time you shoot. You don’t need to buy Zve1 at all. Other Sony models are similar. Even if you use a stabilizer, ZVE1 IBIS cannot handle micro-shakes well, and you still need to use post-shake reduction when you get home. A 20-minute 4K walking video takes more than 2-3 hours to convert in CATALYST BROWSE (even longer if your computer is not fast enough). As for Zve1’s AI anti-shake and tracking functions, they cause too much damage to image quality. You can feel it even on the small screen of your phone. It’s okay to play with them, but try not to use them in practice.-

    Please do these videos in 60fps in the future. Would be great to see how these cameras compare there. I know many at The Verge are not fans of HFR but they're wrong 😅 Most people are trying to capture a sense of realism, not a film...

  • @Pelzvire
    @Pelzvire ปีที่แล้ว +3

    As a small creator myself who actually shoots with an iPhone 13 Pro, I really enjoyed the comparison points and the attention to detail. The only problem that I see is that a system like this probably still is way too inaccessible for a starting creator since you not only have to buy the $2000 camera body but also add a lens to it which greatly affects the image that you get out of the camera. And, as we know, those lenses can easily cost you as much or more than the camera body itself. Compared to an $1400 iPhone 14 Pro, even with a gimbal added into the calculation (roughly $200), most starting creators will probably be choosing this "deal" since it's just the smarter move. I would love to have a beautiful bokeh effect but its just not worth adding these extra dollars.

    • @gclip9883
      @gclip9883 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be fair, you don't need a full frame sensor to get those benefits. There are numerous cameras around the 1000-Dollar price point that can still offer benefits like image stabilization and fast auto-focus. Even with a 18-55 kit lens, you will get vastly superior footage compared to the iPhone. Then you can add some prime lenses later for improved image quality, or another zoom. Also, lenses can theoretically be used for decades, and even bodies often last for 10+ years. Because of that, there is a big used market for camera gear, which will give you even better prices. With 1400 dollars, you could have a decently new body with multiple lenses, and even a gimble if you want.

    I’m pretty sure “the smallest full frame camera you can buy right now” would be the Sigma FP or FP-L, with the Sony being the smallest with IBIS. This was a really good review though, the camera seems quite compelling, and it’s nice to see Sony taking on the smartphone market by incorporating more smart features. As far as the app goes: years back people hated Nikon’s SnapBridge app because it was buggy and awful. Now, being able to take a photo with my professional camera and then have it on my phone moments later, automatically and seamlessly, is one of my favorite things about the Nikon mirrorless lineup. Hopefully Sony will put in the work and get everything fixed up, given time.

    I have a very similar ZV E10 and I got a $20 L-bracket that turns it into a great portrait-mode camera. It works great for talking head videos. All the points in this video are correct, but there is one significant omission which is kinda of the main reason many people buy ZV cameras: the ability to swap out the lenses. She should have shown how a couple of different lenses and inexpensive filters can totally change the look of this camera, hugely for the better, and make it do things phones can't even attempt. Like a macro lens or a decent prime portrait with a nice Glimmerglass filter on it - greatly superior to anything a phone can do. Admittedly the mic quality on this camera isn't sensational but that's normal, if you buy a $200 gun mic you can get great idea for a very reasonable price. I have the ZV setup with a gun mic, L Bracket and a cross mount bracket all ready to go in my bag, so I can whip it onto a tripod at a moment's notice.

Phones tend to have a crappier smaller sensor for ultrawide and Tele and obviously the front facing lens, having high quality optics of all focal lengths utilising the full sensor is an experience unmatched.

    Hi, I also have the Sony a7c but I just can't use this camera for vlogging, the image stabilization is not good enough to get smooth shots, do you have any tips? I heard that you can get the giro data from the camera.

    Well, of all the reviews and in-depth information videos I’ve watched, your video has convinced me this is the camera I wanna make the leap too.

    Thank you! I film exercise videos with a Panasonic Lumix from 2018 and the battery is going + the auto focus is horrible for filming so I have to set it to manual and pray it stays focused. Could I get your recommendation for a good camera to shoot fitness videos? Or should I just upgrade to an iphone 14 pro?

    Look up for Lumix S5 II. Much more capable camera, with phase AF finally, with tons of options for video and photo, and a line-up of affordable f/1.8 primes. Price is bit higher ($2.5k), but you'll have a proper camera for that money. And in May "S5 IIx" will be released, more video-centric type.
