There were twice as many spray paint arrows since the last time I was through there a few months ago. It’s difficult to understand the mindset or motivation behind these actions. 🤯
I grabbed a screenshot of those arrows and posted it in one of the FB hiking groups I follow and a dude said the Forest Rangers are the ones who are violating LNT and spray painting these arrows on wilderness trails!! And 4 or 5 people liked that comment! WHAT? I assumed everyone who is into hiking is as least familiar with LNT. I guess there are people who are clueless, wandering around the Supes!
Best route up or down is through Wave Cave canyon! Thanks again for that tip! I’ve used it several times now. I was going to ask you if you’ve seen the little arch on the left wall on your way up the canyon? I’m not sure I’ve got the skills to climb up to it but I bet you could. -Colby
Just did the full Ridgeline for the first time Monday (Carney to Flatiron). Ranted to my buddy about the painted arrows and commented looking down into that amazing canyon, there are no trails in there. Good to see it's passable.
I love it when the waterfalls get going in the Supes! Really enjoyed the video, and I totally agree with the spray painted arrows rant-- I was just on Peak 5047 and there were a couple new ones up there as well! And while we're at it, can we stop with the excessive cairn placement on well-established trails, please?! Thanks for posting!
Exactly! I just want to know who these people are. They are thinking "I was able to find this trail, not because it is a well travelled, very popular short hike, which exists on every single Supe map there is, but I found it because I a navigation genius! No one else is going to find it unless I help them by painting arrows on the trail! They might be standing on the trail and not realize where they are!"
Totally with you on that beginning rant! Lol Can't stand going to a beautitul spot and seeing it covered in spray paint... Great video, regardless! I've been wanting to make my way into the superstitions. Love those Saguaro Cacti and this spot looks awesome! I’ve read on trip reports for other trails in that area that car break ins are common at trailheads? Have you heard about or experienced any of that? Cheers!🤙🏼 - Steve
Oh yeah man, spray paint is my pet peeve! I’ve never had any trouble, nor have I heard of any trouble parking overnight in the Supes. I’ve left my car all over, never a problem. Peralta and 1st Water TH’s both have Forest Service Rangers present on weekends. You’ll be safe out there, no worries.
Right?! And really, once you pass the Carney Springs turnoff, it’s a single track trail. No route markers needed of any kind. Not to mention it’s 2024 and we all have hiking apps and maps now.
Was just up there at Wave cave last weekend. Yes, people do get lost. I have red-directed many folks. I don’t think the spray paint is necessary, but if people would quit tearing down the signs, that would be helpful. Great video as always.
I’m so surprised how many people go out there without a map. With a gps map, you don’t even need signs. One sign at the gate would be helpful to those without a map.
I was the solo hiker/climber you saw doing ridgeline traverse for the first time. Chose this video to reach out and laughed that when we met, as I was thanking you for getting rid of those arrows and here you are calling it out too 😂😂😂 . If you ever want to go hiking or climbing or need help with arrows, let me know dude! I think we might have exchanged numbers at climbing gym and is why i looked familiar. But i have a memory of a gold fish, so i could be wrong lol
Yeah man, I think you reminded me of a dude I met on the AZT, I checked a video and you do look like him. Funny, probably saw you at the gym too… and thought you looked familiar.
Willow Spring is a year-round water source.
Oh it is? That’s good to know.
Dude, I had the exact same rant on that exact same trail. Unfortunately, I was alone so I probably looked like a maniac, but oh well.

I’m calling 🐂💩. There is NO WAY Rangers are spray painting those arrows.
Insane!
Beautiful, I'll be heading there. Looks like the Fountain Grass plague is truly everywhere...
Great video! Keep on preaching brother, hiking with spray can is not a good idea.
Well, bear spray isn’t a bad idea to hike with. Though you are right 🤝
Man that waterfall was cool!
Awesome adventure my friend🥾😄👍
Yes it was.. already got the next canyon picked out! 😁

@@Colby168 ohhh, I didn’t notice! I think I was extra focused on watching my feet, had a lot of rough miles ahead, can’t roll an ankle now!
Really enjoyed this video, nothing like a hiking adventure.
You know what sucks? That entire canyon just burned up in a 15,000 acre fire. So sad. Won’t look like this again in my lifetime.
Nice video Breven.... beautiful day, beautiful hike.
Thanks Mike! You could run that canyon out-n-back. 👍

Absolutely love the Ridgeline, my favorite trail in the Supes! There’s a few more canyons off the Ridge I hope to explore…

@@MoonJuiceHikes Good to know. Definitely want to make a stop out there soon! Thank you!
Have not hiked off trail very often. Looks like a good one to try. Great video!
The Wave Cave canyon up to the Ridge was actually pretty fun Jim, a good challenge.
We said the same thing about the spray paint when we went up to the Wave Cave. Especially when there was plenty of rocks to use

@MoonJuiceHikes well I thank you for uploading your hikes. It gets me through my work day! Planning on doing Humphreys Peak in another week or two
Someone ought to remove the arrows with some paint remover..😊👍🏽
Good idea!
