    Hearing RC engage with people where they are at and in a manner of compassion and understanding reveals again why I was so impacted by his audio tapes and his books as a young man. He really mastered how to love God and love people so much, you will do all in your power to convey biblical truth and respect the people he is addressing. The grace and care for others exuded from RC in such a measure that it came through in his writing and the sound of his voice and the passion he put in communicating truth. I miss him so much.

    Gerstner said presup was the death of apologetics-I love it! I appreciate the motivation behind presup as we all suppress the knowledge of God. But to think that therefore traditional apologetics has no place, that contending for the evidences that God had placed in the universe to reinforce that conviction is inappropriate-that kind of thinking is truly extreme. So glad to hear Dr. Sproul address this topic.

    I was lost during the time when I had my children. I didn't instruct them, nor guided them in God's word. I wonder if that's why my son is the way he is now. He has called me names, struck his father. We had to get him evicted. It's my fault. I talk to him about the word now and pray, the Lord opens the eyes of his heart and use him as a vessel of some sort.

    Both the babies I had with my husband were unplanned pregnancies. We didn’t abort and we didn’t give them away. We didn’t put them up for adoption. We raised two children, despite the fact that my husband and I are both blind and I had an undiagnosed mental illness. I think if you have two people with disabilities who are married and you know long for the companionship in there being cuddly and so forth that I need for some people. I did have my tubes tied after the second child. Did you have to think about whether or not you can afford I mean you have to think about whether or not you can afford to keep and raise another child. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be able to enjoy intimacy with your spouse.

    • @thearamsay9578
      @thearamsay9578 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      George Christopher I disagree with the doctrines of Calvin, not the doctrines of Grace. Nobody should be made to feel unloved by their Creator. Particularly when he himself says of himself that he is not willing for anyone to perish, but for everyone to repent. That is his fathers heart toward all people.
      Paul promised there would be wolves entering in, not sparing the flock. Perhaps John Calvin was one of them. Anyone who could believe that someone could be born on love by their maker is saying something about God that isn’t true. John Calvin apparently believes that, and so does his followers. I wants heard RC Sprawle say that the people God did not love enough to provide a way of salvation for them, most of them don’t care anyway. What a callous thing to say. First of all, it’s not true. Secondly, if even one person cares that he or she is not chosen for salvation, that is one too many.
      The thing I find most offensive about Calvinism is that if impugns the character of my heavenly father, and I won’t have it. Since you are homeless, you must realize that life is already hard enough, without someone being destroyed by the tenets of Calvinism and thinking that their creator does not care for them.

  • @spencer8388
    @spencer8388 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    2:00 - Once again I’m amazed that we’re not looking to scripture for the clear and concise answer that is there. John 6:44,65 - 2 Thessalonians 2:13 - Jeremiah 31:3 - John 12:32 - Psalms 11:5 - Proverbs 21:2 - Acts 13:48 - 1 Peter 3:12 - 2 Chronicles 16:9 - 1 Samuel 16:7 etc etc etc
    God can see peoples hearts. He can see their minds. He can see who wants to get to know him, and who will listen, is ready to obey and make changes to better serve him. He examines them and pays attention and then he DRAWS them. Once they come to him and his son they begin to take in knowledge - John 17:3
    Once they take in knowledge of him and his son and what they need to do to further that relationship- James 4:8
    So the key ingredient is the proper conditions and God drawing ones and since he is impartial and doesn’t discriminate and desires all to be saved he can then provide any help that we need to continue drawing closer. He blesses effort.

    Sproul (paraphrase): "The idea of responsibility implies the ability to respond. By the way this is the thinking of the arch-heretic Pelagius..."
    This is the gibberish of Calvinism. Yes, the idea of moral responsibility not only implies but necessitates the ability to choose right from wrong. You can't get around it. Contra MacArthur, the unresolved paradox of the Bible is that God is omniscient and omnipotent while at the same time we have free moral choice, which Scripture absolutely teaches.

    at 47:00 A lady spoke about working (for an income) and looking after the home and children, I suggest a more modern answer as my wife and I cannot afford for her to just stay home and look after the children, we cannot afford to live on one salary and so we both have to share responsibilities in the home and for the home.

      We must pray without ceasing - and learn how to live within our means. We cannot be worldly and try to keep up with the Jones'.
      *Matthew 6:26 - 34.
      Also,
      Live for eternity - what do we need in order to do that? We do have wants and we may even think they are needs - but "seek ye the Kingdom of GOD first - the rest will be added to us."
      I used to think that we must work two jobs, overtime, etc... Then I found out that I was being greedy.
      If course I thought I was doing the right thing and being independant, etc... What I needed was to be Biblical! I can't complain to GOD - if I don't obey GOD, so I am TRUSTING in GOD'S promises!
      Glory To GOD!!!

    There are few times which I am unsatisfied with Macarthur or Sproul's answers, but I am inclined in this instance to expand on the answer to the question of God's commandment to all men that they repent:
    All men are commanded to repent. Yet, no man can recognize that command unless called by God, for man's natural inclination is to hate God, either by denying His existence, or running away from Him, and consequentially not listening to Him. Jesus Christ said: "He who has ears, listen." - If you hear God, that is to say: If you have been elected by God, and you hear him, know that you are commanded to repent. - The commandment is to all men who have ears, and listen to God; those men who have been elected.

    Revelation 13:8 (KJV)

    But the ESV and NASB read different:

    The only place I would disagree with Dr. Sproul is in the area of apologetics. Unlike the times that Calvin, Hodge, and Warfield ministered in, they always dealt with an audience that believed in a transcendent reality. Even pagans believed in a god. The Church has never existed in an era with such a materialistic presupposition from It’s opponents as we do now. Pointing out to the atheist their reliance on a Christian worldview in order to function in the world is the only way to defeat their argument.

    Sorry but Paul refutes the Calvinist selection heresy when he writes this in 2nd Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, NOT willing that anyone should perish (Go to Hell). But that everyone come to repentance. Will everyone come to repentance? Of course not bc Jesus said the road to hell is more popular & MANY go thereto. But to say God created us without a will to choose is ridiculous! The thief on the cross made a decision to accept God's forgiveness. So it is def a confession, along with repentance that gives one salavation.

      Who makes up the "all" in this verse? In verse 1 he's addressing the "beloved." He's writing to believers. God is not willing that any of the elect should perish. This is the problem with single verse theology with no context.

    As a conditional universalist, I believe Christ died for all; not just the elect (1 John 2:2). However, only those “in Christ” are saved. I don’t think the correct question is; can you lose your salvation? I think the correct question is personal. It should be; am I in Christ? That’s the question each soul searching believer must ask. To walk with ostentatious pride is dangerous. Not to say that my Five point Calvinist brothers are prideful; but an unexamined christian life, can be fodder for false security. Every person has potential for salvation, if they put their absolute trust in the perfect, matchless, saving work of Jesus Christ. It is a workless faith in Him. It is a deeply personal matter; salvation, that is.

    As God knows all things He knows those who want to please Him. And He knows of their desire to please Him before He has created them. Therefore we know that for God to not choose to predestinate those whom He knows want to please Him, would be a very strange choosing indeed. Therefore can we not say that it must be true that God predestinates those ones whom He knows want to please Him.

    I would ask another question about Arminians. The church I attend believe in salvation by faith alone. But they say that's the beginning then you have to be faithful to the commandments to be saved in the end. If you die in some "visible" sin (adultery, drunkenness, stealing from brothers), you will surely go to hell. In other words, you were saved but by not being faithful you lose your salvation. So if you are saved by faith and you are not one of those who walk in those sins or something similar, you lose your salvation. for them the sinner on the Cross was saved and died and went to paradise, because he did not have time to lose his salvation. then. if we look at some scriptures, it seems to me that they have not believed the true gospel. for instance . The Hebrews say that with a single sacrifice he made you perfect forever ... among others. They display texts out of context to defend their position ... are they still considered saved? They constantly say that you have to be perfect (humanly speaking so as not to lose salvation ... the next question to the answer they give is: where is the line between salvation by works and salvation by Faith considered?

    • @angelikastefoglo2478

      Hello, I’m Arminian leaning, and I believe that once atoned for, always atoned for.
      However, if someone *claimed* to be a Christian but then was living in an active sinful lifestyle without a repentant heart, i.e. cheating on their spouse repeatedly, I don’t believe they were saved in the first place, and therefore would end up in hell when they died.
      However, that is much different than someone who has truly been saved sinning right before death - I believe that sin is paid for already and they go to heaven.
      What you’ve explained is actually a Roman Catholic belief, along with what Mormons believe, and so I’m not sure why that Arminian leaning church claims such doctrine. But most Arminians I know don’t think that you’d get sent to hell if you sinned right before dying.
