    They are both incredible athletes with great attitudes. Jakob’s manner is not arrogance, as some think, he just has unbelievable self belief and high expectations of himself.
    I love both runners for the way they are, and it’s great for the sport that they are as fearless expressing themselves as they are in their running.
    We don’t need to pick a side; just appreciate them.

    Josh Kerr is just spitting in the wind. How is this a rivalry when Kerr in all these years has beaten Jacob one time. The rivalry I see brewing isn't Kerr its Nuguse. Kerr may not even medal next year, Nuguse is way better. I like when these guys always down play the most important race and that was the Tokyo Olympics when Jakob won gold. In track and field the Olympics is everything. Steve Cram was great, world record holder won the world champs, but it was Coe and Ovett who won the Olympics. Even Hicham El Guerrouj multiple world champs and records but was considered less than by many including himself till he won that Olympics Gold Medal. There fools on letsrun needs to stop downplaying the Olympic Gold Medal which he won easily and broke the Olympics record by 3 seconds. Jakob isn't going to change tactics for the likes of Kerr. He does not fear Kerr. Kerr is the one who needs to be cautious because there are people behind him coming. It seems to me there is definitely some jealousy going on here. It just sounds to be like Jakob has rented some space in Josh Kerr's head 😅🤣😂😁🤪😀😛

      @@ZATHURAKEYDon't get me wrong, I am a big Jakob fan, and not so much a Kerr fan. I think Jakob is twice the runner Kerr is. In fact, I would be surprised if Kerr could break 13:10 for 5k, whereas Jakob could run 12:30 or better.
      That said, athletics, as well as all sports, for that matter, are really about what you do most recently and on the biggest stages. That was really my only point. Kerr suddenly grew “tired” and was done for the season (save the 5th Ave Mile) after promptly getting out kicked by Nuguse in Zurich, Kerr’s first and last track meet of the year as the World 1500m champ - Ingebrigtsen, meanwhile, broke another WR and almost broke another in the Bowerman mile - as a track distance fan, I’d much rather follow Ingebrigtsen’s record- and near-record setting season than Kerr’s one sit-and-kick win - and if anyone doubts Ingebrigtsen’s kick, rewatch the World 5K where he caught Katir in the stretch after Katir had a 5m lead with 75m to go, and rewatch the Prefontaine 3K where he holds off the world indoor mile record holder Kajelka (SP?) in a spirited sprint to the finish

    Does Josh not realise that Jakob is just playing to his strengths by front-running? You can't call it a weakness when his worst finish since 2019 has been🥈
    If Jakob took a sit and kick approach, sure he might win 🥇 but he also might finish 4th!
    Similarly, if Josh tried to front-run, he might make the podium but he also might finish dead last. You play to your strengths. I don't get why he's being so critical here?

    It's not as if a bunch of people are passing him up the home straight. At most, it's one per loss. So only one guy each time managed to get past. And all the others are getting paced and can't get past anyway. Not sure the argument holds up. Sit in and it's a lottery... Centro got to the front in a very slow race and ran 50secs for the last 400m... anyone who beats that has to run 49!!!... Jakob makes it a true race.

      Well, the same was said of Steve Cram during the 1980's - not enough pure top end speed; however, Cram developed the ability to run 1:42 for 800m, and then could outkick Seb Coe at times. So, if Jakob continues to improve his pure speed just a little more, with his aerobic capacity he'll be able to just leave everyone behind.

    A healthy Jakob will beat every runner in the 1500m with or without pacers. His improvement in 2023 was phenomenal with world records Kerr will never achieve. Kerr has also been cocky since getting 3rd in the Olympics but barely won a race since. A bit hypocritical calling out Jakob for having an ego when I’ve heard him bigging himself up pre-race then failing miserably the past 2 years other than that 1 race when Jacob was clearly ill. He’s just jealous he has to eat Jakob’s dirt 99.9% of the time!

    @GbawlZ 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

    I think your sample size is way too small to draw that conclusion. The fact that you can point out three total races he has lost in the last handful of years is proof of that. Everyone knows Jakob is cocky -- he's so cocky that he kicked his dad to the curb and became his own coach (before the scandal involving his dad came out). As an unbiased viewer, it seems to me like Josh Kerr let his single win over Jakob get to his head to the point where he feels like he is better than him. It's far more likely that Jakob, who doubles up on races in major events, overestimates his ability to handle that workload on occasion and loses a race. If he simply picks one race in next year's WC, he will win the event he races, including the 1500M, I would bet money on it. The fans in this sport, a long with the peanut gallery on TH-cam, are so quick to dethrone the top dog when they have a single bad race. People are already writing off Eliud Kipchoge for his Chicago performance, and as evidenced by this video and others, are drawing wild conclusions about Jakob based on his few losses to runners who are clearly not on his level. Does anyone view Josh Kerr or Jake Wightman as contenders for gold at any point in their careers? No. What other runner throughout history has been held to the standard Jakob is being held to? That tells you everything you need to know about his talent.

    Kerr's willingness to speak his mind is refreshing, but at the same time, he's going too far with it by making claims that go beyond what he can actually prove. I mean, he's entitled to his opinion, but once it crosses over into disparaging someone else, he's crossed the line in my opinion.
    That said, Kerr beat Jakob fair and square in the WC, and then Jakob went on this excuse making tirade about some mythical virus. I'm sure Kerr didn't appreciate that, so his words for Jakob, although perhaps excessive, are certainly understandable and probably even justified to a degree.
    For his part, Jakob would have been better served if he'd simply said that he didn't have it that day, or that his legs just felt dead. No need to diminish a fine performance by Kerr to get the win. Jakob would have been respected even more had he simply chosen to be a gracious loser. To me, the excuse making only diminishes his legacy.
