Not defending anyone here but a question to consider is maybe his attitude (whether liked or not) is the reason he has been so dominant in the past years, he fully believes in himself and that is not easy to find.
Wether people like him or not is another story but the guy has a serious record and won’t be easy to beat I think most are agreeing with that. Just some food for thought, like him or hate him, the way he thinks most definitely plays a role in his personal success.

And it’s also what makes him a prick who is incredibly unlikable as a person. He never gives actual real credit to anyone else. He always finds a way to make himself look good. Watch his body language. He’s even disrespectful to those questioning him, but does it in a fake polite way. As a person he’s a gigantic a hole. As a competitor he’s great and I enjoy watching him, but I will never like him. The more I watch the more I feel this way. I’ve seen him at Hayward for as long as he’s been competing there. And the more I watch his interviews and the excuses he makes when he loses the less I respect him as a person. Hard not to respect him as a competitor though. A very fast and impressive run by Jacob, coming back from injury. Certainly if he improves his fitness 1-2 percent in the next 2 months he will be very well positioned to win, even double, in Paris. But it is not a stupid question about whether he is reconsidering his racing tactics. There is a real physical penalty for leading versus drafting, like a half per lap second. Yes he wins like 18 out of 20, but he was outkicked in the last two championship finals, so it's a valid consideration. If he has one slight weakness (aside from his stubbornly predictable race tactics) it seems to be a top gear to kick hard in the last 100m of a fast 15 vs Kerr or Wightmen. He chases them to the line but doesn't seem to have the top gear. Ok, small sample size, maybe he was sick both times. This is unknowable. We'll get our answer in Paris.

Nobody loves Jakob as much as Jakob. But he counts on having superior fitness to run 3 laps so fast the rest of the field is gassed, giving him a 20+ meter lead with 150m to go. But now Kerr is just as fit, and Kerr, Cole Hocker, Hobbs Kessler, and Yared Nguse all have better kicks than Jakob. Paris is going to be exciting.

Sorry, but his attitude makes no sense?!? To say strongest guy always wins and then cite that you've won 18 of 20 races - you look like a fool if those races are Olympics and World champs! World champs last year - if you're not 100% why on earth are you front running?!? Does he really think at 90% he is still so much better that he can just jog away from the field? If he doesn't win the 1500 in Paris he really needs to give this much more thought. Currently his hit rate in the last 3 major championships at 1500 WC, WC and Olympics is 33% so compared to his ability he seems an extremely poor tactician.

@@anodyne57 I mean he's obviously better than his nearest competition but to front run when he claims to be ill? That makes no sense so either he's not ill or he's judged the strategy poorly in those circumstances. There are very few people who can just run away from a field because they are that much better. Maybe he can but he very nearly lost the Diamond league in Oslo running the same tactics and if the margins are fine, you are undoubtedly making it hard to win as the last 2 WCs have shown.

You can pretty much say that about each end every fanbase. No matter the athlete, club etc. Ronaldo’s fans can be really obnoxious, just like Messi’s fans. The same is for Jakob and Kerr. I don’t think you can generalize like that, or better said, it doesn’t make sense to put all the people into one box, because it usually is, that all the dickheads who talk crap about an athlete are always the loudest.
