@@kakhome1 Mania is great! My only 2 big criticisms are the lack of original levels and the level length. At times it feels like there too much game lol. Yeah I'll also say it's my 2nd favorite 2D Sonic game. Thanks for watching
(Replying here) The DLC is quite skippable overall IMO, though it's hard to be a ripoff for just $5. Most levels are *slightly* harder in Encore Mode but I think the palettes in Mania Mode are better. You also alternate between characters when you die. But you can also play Mania Mode as Mighty or Ray if you want with Plus. The best addition is definitely another fully original Act of Mirage Saloon that is played in Encore mode. (You can also play it from Level Select however if you find debugmode and enter the appropriate sound test to trigger Encore palettes/layouts.)
(Replying here) If you do replay I'd definitely recommend trying to just beat the levels as opposed to finding all of the routes in one playthrough - and then replay from level select of you want to explore what other routes there are. That definitely feels like the better experience to me; most Acts take less time to finish but more time to fully explore compared to 3&K's. (With a few exceptions - like some of the levels it took from 3&K or Press Garden Act 1 or Titanic Monarch come to mind.) The blue sphere bonuses are also very optional (the casino bonus in 3&K is still my favorite one).
(Replying here) That's an interesting thing to say about Mania, as I can get through (though not fully explore all routes of) most Acts faster than I'm able to get through Acts in 3&K. While the number of different routes - all with unique sights - adds to the replay value. So I'd only say there is "too much game" if you're trying to explore everything in one playthrough. (Exception of Titanic Monarch Act 2, as that level really is massive and you must play it all.) The lack of fully original zones is a fair point, though at least one Act of each reused zone is always sufficiently different from its source material, IMO.
I see. It has been a few years since I played Sonic Mania, and everytime I play I usually go for the emeralds. Maybe that's I think the game is too big. Your comment/reply has inspired me to replay an reevaluate my thoughts.

Among 2D Sonic games...do you like Mania? It's probably my 2nd favorite fully 2D game (after 3&K).

Okay then. Thoughts on the Mania Plus DLC?
