    Thanks for your honest comments mate. I am an old bloke with a 2018 Hilux, still on road tyres. Your tyres get a true workout, everyday, not on weekends. And you are not sponsored. But if you were I reckon you would still give an honest opinion. Love watching your videos, will go a long way to helping me decide on new tyres. One of the best sites on TH-cam I reckon, keep up the good work. All the best mate from Melbourne.

      Good old hilux mate that's the go! Thankyou, that's high praise and I really appreciate you watching and getting something worthwhile from the vids. I will always be as honest as I can, it's just the way it goes I reckon. Thanks again mate. 👍

    Great work - Tyres on your application are literally a huge consideration to make - great channel - I’m about to buy a number of these new model 70 series for an extremely demanding application in Liberia West Africa so I have been watching your show from the get go with great interest - keep em coming .👍

      Wow mate that is bloody awesome, thanks for watching I'm glad your getting something out of the channel. Tyres are definitely a huge consideration. I'd be interested to know more about that project, the vehicles will be working hard I imagine?

    Great picture quality. Thanks for the vid. I've had BFG KM's for over 10 years and think that they are a great all-rounder even though they are for mud. People that say they are dangerous in the wet probably drive their 4WD like it's a car around roundabouts.

    So unlucky to have two flats w/in a short amount of time, and on practically new tyres too. That's gotta hurt the wallet. But tyres are critically important. Specially for you, with the type of work you do, having the correct quality tyres is as important as having a very reliable and capable vehicle. I like your pragmatic approach to these things - utterly level headed. Onya mate. 👍

    • @OutbackOffroadNT
      @OutbackOffroadNT  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah mate pretty unlucky, I did two with the Mickey's and one sidewall with the Toyo's already which I mentioned in my latest vid. It never ends mate! All I really need and care about is reliability and I don't like to muck around with shitty equipment. And yes lots of money on tyres lately, ridiculous. I'll sell the Mickey's I had on the front.

    I have had 3 vehicles with full sets of Toyo all terrains and now I have them on my 79 series, so I reckon they are a good thing. Not one puncture but Im only in rough country now and then. I run 33s and empty get around 13.89 and loaded mid 14s .

      That's the go mate, I'm actually getting the right rear Toyo replaced today, two sidewall punctures on the same tyre... not bad economy. I'm getting around 600km from 100ltr.

    Nitto is owned by Toyo. Not sure if their tyres come from the same factory or share construction methods. I ran 2 sets of Ko2’s on my previous vehicle (Hilux) and had no issues with them, albeit my vehicle use is nowhere as harsh as your environment. Yes, they were ‘skatee in the wet when worn, but they were reliable.
    Enjoy your channel.

    I found the side biters on the MT Baja AT’s have torn away from the sidewalls when in heavy rocks. They are good for other terrain but not rocks/boulders. I’m going back to tyres with a little less aggressive side biters.

    Tyres are one of those things. I had BFG's ko2 on my hundred series no flats or anything but in mud they stink! -My upinion! Had a delamination problem with BFG'S well.
    Anyway for my bike i ones bought an Avon rear tyre, the thing was NOT round, so another one under warranty, well to make a long annoying, to me, story short, i went through 8 yes 8 tyres all with the same problem, it ended up being a "batch" problem the last one was of a different batch and was good. Just saying maybe you had a similar problem?
    I now run "Comforcers" MT 285 75sx16, 10PR, cheap but have run them before in the outback quite a bit, with no problems.

      Haha what a bloody muck around mate! Yeah part of the issue for me was running the stock GXL rims which are a little to narrow for my size tyres. They are 7 inch wide, I've since gone to 8.

    Hey mate how's it going.
    I've run the toyo open country for about 4 sets now and average around 70 to 80k out of them. Rotate every 10k great tyre good for putting a load on. Bit of a shortage of them at the moment I've paid anything from $270 to $350 a tyre , that's in Townsville and Cairns. I've used bfg muddy and had a fail with them. Stay with toyo mate they are great. I'll check the price here for you next time out of here. Get them a lot cheaper. Rito keep going 👍.

    • @OutbackOffroadNT
      @OutbackOffroadNT  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm good thanks mate, hope your well. That's good feedback and I really do like these Toyo's, my old man likes the Toyo all terrains. He used to run them on his hilux. Appreciate that mate the bloody prices here are insane haha.

    • @peterarnold1173

      That's great, i run a 2018 79 single cab and do a lot of station work out to Mt Isa and up through the gulf. And the muddy comes into their own, especially when it's pissing down . And compared to others, they aren't that noisy. Unfortunately, they do burn more fuel . I have run the mickey thomson as well, and don't rate them . Get more, k out of the toyo.

    • @OutbackOffroadNT
      @OutbackOffroadNT  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's very interesting, lots of people telling me about tyres drive around in town and don't understand what it's like out in the scrub. Great to have another perspective from someone using there gear out bush. How do you like your LandCruiser?

    • @peterarnold1173
      @peterarnold1173 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      . it great . I've put 200k on the clock gets serviced every 5k from new. Just tuned it and amazing the difference. if I got 250km to quarter a tank was pretty good , but first drive out of town I looked down at the same stage and had 320km . I only wanted bit better fuel economy and when I over take bet more power, no need to drop Back to fourth, leave it in 5th, and just pulls. The bloke who tuned it does work for a company that has probably 6 or 7 stations, and he did a manifold clean first, then tune . It's well priced as well.

    • @OutbackOffroadNT
      @OutbackOffroadNT  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah that's the go mate, 5000km service intervals really are what's needed for vehicles that work offroad. I'm toying with the idea of a tune. Always worry about reliability and like to leave things as stock as possible though, I really need it to be done properly. And not looking for crazy power.

    Toyo have killed off the Open Country AT2 and replaced it with the Toyo Open Country AT3 which has a softer tread compound & different tread pattern. I've seen Toyo do this before with it's tyres and the new tyre is nowhere near as good or lasts as long as the old version. I won't ever buy COOPER tyres again, all marketing hype with a B.S mileage guarantee they are so I might have to go Bridgestone.

      Was running Toyo MT until year before last. Changed to Toyo AT3 when out and about and needed to change tyres that were on their last. Could not get Toyo MT in a hurry. My impressions. AT3 are better on bitumen in the wet and a bit less tyre noise. They might use a smidgen less fuel but not enough to worry about. MT better off road and appear stronger. 3 ply sidewall vs 2 ply for AT3. Intend to fit new Toyo MT before I head off around Aus in a few months.

      @@dognute2746 Good to know about your experience with the AT3. I've never had an issue with the AT2 in the wet & otherwise. I might give the AT3 a go depending on price. I had Toyo HO2 LT 8 plies on my one tonner 20 years ago & Toyo changed the carcass size & tread width and pattern and the new version was rubbish compared to the old HO2.
